I am going to Vegas with my wife next week. I would like to fly dressed in fem. I have heard that all you need is your ticket and your id. I have my male id and ticket. Does anyone know if this will be a problem?:heehee:

Yes, a security guard will check in your pants to see what you've got, ya know, check the gender and all.

In the US of A, this should not be a problem. Kimberly should pop in here any minute and let you know. She probably averages 3 trips a month en femme without any issues. One of our members works for the TSA and has informed us that they are trained to understand us and treat us with respect. (You can go to their website to check it out if you want.) Recent changes to the TSA/FAA rules require us to purchase our tickets specifying our gender. So your ID must match the purchase gender as does the name. What you dress in does not make a difference. BTW, breastforms are specifically allowed and don't have to be screened through the X-ray machine in the little plastic baggy (most won't fit, I suspect).
Hope this helps.

MJ,
Where did you have the problem? Customs or security and in which country?

As others have said, it is not an issue. I did that for the better part of a year, well over a dozen flights, and I've never had a problem. The closest I came to a problem was in the Austin airport on the way to last years SCC. At the risk of sounding vain, I was looking exceptionaly good and they really weren't sure that the woman standing in front of them was really the guy in the ID. All they asked was that I show another item of ID to add weight. I showed them a debit card with my pic on it and I was through the gate.
When your reading my friend MJ's post above, please keep in mind that she was traveling international and that may be a whole different ball of wax. While I know that some have done it, I myself would not risk traveling international.

I've flown as a female 35 times now - domestic flights are easy but international flights can be risky.
If you're travelling on a domestic route (USA to USA) then you'll be fine. But I wouldn't advise travelling internationally into the US.
I did it a month ago and had no problems as I have a passport with my new female name and complete with female photo. I lost count the number of times this was checked on my international flight - at check in, security, immigration, again before boarding the aircraft and most importantly, on my arrival in the US at immigration and customs. I wouldn't even think of turning up in the US without a passport that matches the passenger in every way.

I flew into, and out of, Vegas this past summer, femme, with little to no issues.
My license has a photo of me with a beard and hair back, and my passport has no beard and hair down. Obviously two VERY different pictures, and the security guards just looked at me, and at the IDs, looked up and smiled and I moved on. My biggest concern was breaking so much of a sweat that I might loose some of my foundation while navigating all the security and so on. I had a purse full of tissues and used MANY.
Have a safe trip, and if you have time, check out Studio Lites and The Glamour Boutique, minimally. :)
