Last week I told you all that I had an appointment upcoming at a shop called Katiewannabe's. She caters to the CD/TG community and you shop by appointment only so you can have privacy. Well.....today was the day!
This morning I started my day with a nice hot lavender bath. Then I put on my clothes and make up, and for the first time, during daylight hours, I stepped out of my front door.
On the way there I was somewhat nervous about pulling up next to anyone. I still had no wig and I could definately see my shadow above my lip. But still I perservered, knowing I had my appointment to get to.
When I got there, she came out and greeted me in the parking lot. I followed her upstairs to her shop and.....WOW. She has all kinds of stuff that you girls would love. Clothes, wigs, forms, jewelry, shoes....She does hair and nails (Yes DanaJ, she is licensed and has been doing it for years).
We started with some foam forms. I can't really afford the silicone ones yet, although she did let me try them on. I love the way they feel so bouncy. Anyway, I settled on a foam pair and she showed me a bra that was designed to hold the forms in perfect shape so I got both.
Then she did a make up session with me. She asked what I was using, and I said "I thought you might ask that" and I emptied my purse on her counter. She started looking through it saying, too light, too light, wrong.....and so on. Well, what can I say. I bought what my wife uses and we have different complexions plus she doesn't have the shadow to hide. Anyway, she started with a tan 08 natural foundation stick. She put it on fairly heavy on my upper lip and jawline. Then she got out some liquid foundation of the same color and put it on pretty heavy. I mentioned that I usually don't put as much on and she said that I really needed it to help blend everything in and hide the shadow. Well, I let her do her thing. Then she used some bronzer on my jaw and cheekbone. Also a little on my nose. She said this helps define the shape of my face. Then it was some black eyeliner and soft brown eyeshadow under the eye. She used some of my white eye shadow to color the top of the eye. Then she gave me some mascara tips.
Then, it was time for the wig. I saw one I liked right off the bat. Dark Brown, straight with bangs, slightly parted on the side. She said she agreed on the color and style. She put it on me and started trimming it to shape my face nicely.
When she was done, I didn't even recongnize myself! She had truly transformed me into the woman I have been attempting to portray at home. I could not see my shadow, and with the wig I truly looked somewhat passable, well....from a distance at least.
While she worked up my bill I walked around her shop some, looking at some clothes and making my list out for the next time I go back. She also made a list of all of the make up she had used on me so I could go shopping!
The ride home was fantastic. I cared not whether I pulled up next to someone or not. I had several cars stopping next to me at stop lights and never got a second look. I blended! In my car, I passed! I didn't stop anywhere, because it was still daylight, and I am 6'4" afterall, which kinda ruins the illusion, but it was still wonderful!
Now I am home, and took some pictures of the new me with my crappy little camera. I did take one at her shop but for some reason it will not allow me to save it as a jpeg, but the other ones will. There are also a couple of me in my car that I might post later.
Sorry about the long post, but this was a good day indeed and I wanted to share it. Any of you girls that live in the Eastern PA area, I definately recommend her shop. If you want more info feel free to PM me. If you decide to go let me know and I will shoot her an email telling her that I referred you!

Oh, and I changed my avatar too. No more cartoon character for me!
