My wife and I have been working on my halloween costumes and the spare room has costumes, clothing, party wigs all spread all over. My daughter, 6 years old, had not seen the room, but yesterday she went in there and came running out...Daddy! Daddy! look at all the costume's in there!!! Then she spent 1/2 hour running and jumping out of the door, "Ta Da!"...look my hair is purple, then pink....then blond.... It was cute.
Later on, I was in there with her and she says to me, looking at the wedding dress I am going to wear. She says,very excited at seeing the dress, Daddy...who's wedding outfit? Are you a going to be a wedding vampire? (Last week I lied to her... I told her I was going to be a vampire...because I know she will talk at school...and vampire is easy for her friends to remember/understand) I'm not ready to explain much too her, but halloween is for fun and it is an easy way to introduce the concept to her, so I just said with confidence, "yup, something like that!" and she did this look...can't say for sure, but it was this surprised grin...like 5 milliseconds of doesn't compute, then cool - that's neat! (she loves princesses and wedding dresses). Then it was on to some other topic.
...its going to be fun when she sees me all made up (going for 100% flawless bride, except my face which is going to be either skull or zombie makeup, but with a female conturing to add some gender mystery)! My wife and I are going out to a danceclub party, the only thing I'm a little shy about is the neighbor babysitter...who has no idea. Hope she doesn't freak out (she's 18, very shy and conservative). Should be good for a laugh in any case! Maybe I'll sneak up behind her when she comes in the front door! ...I get this feeling her parents will be asking to see me dressed too...if I get really brave I might wear my costume handing out candies and walking my daughter door to door.
