I got a great skirt from Salvation Army yesterday. It is a 10 Petite white polyester dry clean only skirt with one flaw - it seems like it has a coffee (?) stain on it - but the price was only $1.00 ! I mean, a real nice white skirt at Casual Corner can cost $64, so this was a great deal ! So anyway, how do I remove the stain? Has anyone ever cleaned a white dry clean only skirt and removed a stain? What did you do? Or do I have to bring this to a dry cleaner - will they be able to remove the stain?

Is it washable polyester? If it is, I'd pretreat it with a good stain removing product, like Spray and Wash, Shout, etc. Here's a couple of linky's to see about the stuff: http://www.shoutitout.com/stain-removers/ http://www.oxiclean.com/laundrysub.asp?MainNav=Products&SubNav=Laundry http://www.dialcorp.com/index.cfm?page_id=46
Then I'd give it a good washing, preferably putting it on a soak cycle. G'luck! Let us know how it turns out. :)

Jesse,

Try lemon juice, or a lemon based product.
Lemon is a natural cleaner for most things.
If it doesn't work it certainly wont do the skirt any damage.

I've had good results with either of the following products found at the hardware store among other places.

Thanks for your replies, but now I've got a great $297 3 pc perfect white suit from Casual Corner today. Jacket, skirt, and pants for sale at $131.97 - $143.85 after tax. I've always wanted a perfect white suit and now a have such a great outfit! I'll post a pic of me in my 3 pc suits in another thread!

Anyway, it'd be terrible to get this suit stained or dirty since it's perfect white. This one suit I'll use the dry cleaners for and risk embarrassment!
Otherwise, if you people out there have cleaned white polyester perfectly please post how you did it!

Which one of these 3 products have you used? All 3 of them? Which one gave the best results?

This stain removing technology might be real good! Like stained clothes go for dirt cheap at thrift stores, and if you clean clean them perfectly, then why not buy them and save a lot of money?

My suggestion would be to go to the dry cleaners and ask there advice. If dry cleaning over there is the same sort of price as over here you're going to pay more to have it cleaned than you paid for it, but if it's a nice skirt and they feel the stain will come out then it's worth it.

Jesse...
Being a Mother of 5, I will give you my suggestions. If it is washable, do as Kew said. I "shout" or "spay and wash" EVERYTHING! If it is not washable, try using a little diluted "Oxi Clean". Stuff works miracles!

Hope this helps.
