View Full Version : Crossdresser Day 2009

Secret Sis

Just wondering...

Last year we had a "Crossdresser Day" on the second Friday in November... We as crossdressers (especially those of us well in the closet) wore a simple rubber band on our left wrist to identify us as such... to simply identify us to each other without outing ourselves to anyone not a member of our community.

I know it's nothing huge and probably doesn't make a difference, but last year I saw a couple people with rubber bands on their left wrist and at least wondered... are they one of us or is it just a coincidence?

I find this idea interesting because I work in a job where I come in contact with the public frequently... usually a few hundred people a day...

Does anyone have any interest in doing this again this year?

I did it last year and went to the mall and saw one person wearing a rubber band . We smiled at one another and went about feeling good. I would like to do it this year also.

How big should the rubber band be? Do you wear it on the left or right or does that depend on orientation? Is red better than flesh color?

If all 43 people who responded to this thread all wore thick, pink rubber bands around their left wrists all on the same day, during the hours of 9 am to 2 pm, that would really make a statement to the world!!!! I used to use a rubber band on my wrist to stop myself from CDing. When I felt the Pink Fog coming on, I'd snap the band & so give myself a slap on the wrist. works for any bad habit.
Now I'm pushing the enveleope again, not trying to stop.

Maybe passing through and trawling a general rendezvous location like a Barnes & Noble bookstore, or if you are in the UK, Waterstone's or Tesco (sorry I don't know england that well). No particular time of day except the time you choose. Rubber bands or heels, I don't care. :)

Some are in the closet, some are out, and some are way out of the closet. What I'm saying is .....wear a small rubberband if you want to say you did it. Wear a large colorful one if you want another cder to notice you and wear a bunch if you want the world to know. It's up to you. I suggest the malls. Get a cup of coffee and relax. Great place for people watching and maybe cd spotting.

To make this work, you all have to spread the word to any other sites your on.

OMG! My son used to work at a customer fulfillment warehouse as a stock picker. He would come home with a wrist full of rubber bands every day. Does this mean he's a crossdresser and I don't know it? HORRORS!

I love this idea, but unfortunately on Fridays I work from home so don't have much chance to actually get out, and if I do, my wife is with me and she's suspect something weird (I don't wear anything other than my watch on my wrists).

But if I DO get out, you know I'll be looking for rubber bands on left wrists!

Thanks Beth for remembering. The best part about wearing the rubberband was the excitement of maybe running into someone who has the same feeling as yourself. Even though I didn't run into anybody. The excitement was still there. For those of you that want different colors and sizes, do what makes you feel good. I'm wearing a wide brown rubberband. That way if my so ask what its for, I can say I was just playing around with it.

To celebrate crossdressing day we wear a rubber band? Why not a dress? Our more closeted crossdressers could merely show a bra strap.

I am still not able to be fully dressed at work, but I can and will wear something like a pink rubber friendship bracelet.

Our more closeted crossdressers could merely show a bra strap.

My employer's dress code would not make that possible

Nothing to do with shameful, everything to do with what is possible.

Wow... Look at all the responses here!

As the starter of this year's thread I think a few things do need to be clarified though...

First and most importantly, I owe a huge apology to Sandygal... I never meant to steal anyone's idea. I just remembered doing this last year and thought it was a lot of fun and saw nothing mentioned about it this year. I'd love to see this become an annual tradition!

Also, after reading a couple of the responses I think we need to understand the purpose behind doing this... it's not to say to the general public "Look at us, we're crossdressers and we're proud!", it's to have a way to possibly identify ourselves to other crossdressers without saying a word - a way to know that we're not alone... that there are others like us.

There have been a few inquiries about SO's participating, and I say why not? These people are wonderful enough to stand by us and I strongly believe they should be included. What a great sight it would be to see a couple - both wearing rubber bands! If my wife knew (and I hope she does soon) I would love to see her participate.

Thanks for all the responses so far... some of them made me laugh out loud... we certainly have a sense of humor!

See you all Friday the 13th,, (I hope...):)

Sandygal

Secret Sis ...No apology is nessessary. You wrote exactly what I intended this day to be. I didn't bring it up this year because....Well...I was bummed out after last year. I kept reading how everyone wanted crossdressing to be accepted, so I came up with a small starting point and all I read was one negative thing after the other. Mostly from the girls who were totally out. That's when I decided that we will never come out and I headed back to my closet. I tried a small step. I gave up. But I'm willing to try again. So lets all get our rubberbands and head to the malls after work for some coffee and people watching.

Exactly! For those of us that aren't out yet, I think this is a great idea. I myself still feel kinda' alone no matter how much I read the posts on this site...don't get me wrong, I love talking to all the girls on this site, but I'm pretty sure that there are some girls that are so far in the closet that are hesitant to let on where they are located, but they may just take that chance and wear a rubber band.....easy enough to make an excuse for if someone asks, so not a big deal. Sure, there is surely someone that will be wearing a rubber band "just because", but if any of us CD'ers are, sometimes just a knowing glance is all we need. WE don't even have to talk to each other, don't even have to acknowledge each other, but at least some of us will know that maybe there are more of us out there than we think there are!:battingeyelashes:

I like this Idea very much. I am a closeted male attracted to MTF cross dressers, transvestites and transsexual (CD/TV/TS) women, personally and romantically.

My problem is protecting my business from the biased public. I dare not go to the CD/TV/TS bars and clubs where the ladies congregate; news of me in such a place might spread like bad news. So I live my TG lifestyle in quite, private places, which makes it very difficult to find my and maintain good friends in the local TG community; it's easier when traveling.:battingeyelashes:

Wearing a rubber band is an effective, innocent and subtle way to announce yourself, to identify other locals (genetic male and CD/TV/TS women) and preserve one's own options in safely choosing to whom you wish to out yourself (locally and while traveling); it's a super idea; I love it as an everyday idea versus only once a year.

I will wear a rubber band on my left wrist from this day forward.

I hope you ladies take of the practice too! :daydreaming:

PS: I live in southeast Michigan; if you do too, I like to know you:love:

Blake:)

i did it last year. wasn't a rubber band, but a hair elastic. (i have long hair, which work requires me to tie back.) didn't see any rubber bands, or anybody checking wrists surreptitiously either. i do have some rubber bands, but most are covered with paint and glue (from building models.) have to see what i can find.

I had to go to my lawyers office to talk about settling a parent's estate. I didn't notice until he started discussing the final steps of estate distribution that he was wearing a blue rubber band on his left wrist. Talk about a shock. Coincidence?

My wife and I are open about crossdressing so I told her about the crossdresser rubber band day. She half heartedly told me that it will disrupt her day at work today; all she will do is walk around trying to find men that have rubber bands on their left wrist. I almost didn't take part in Crossdresser Day today. I'm a total chicken.

But then I happened to be the last one out the door this morning, and a light-green rubber band happened to be sitting there on the counter as I was rinsing off my breakfast plate, and the next thing I knew I was slipping it on.

I haven't noticed anyone else wearing one, but I wasn't really expecting to. I know that statistically, there's probably at least one other crossdresser at work, but the chance that there actually is one who also happens to be a member here and is participating in Crossdresser Day is far too remote.

What do you mean;"aren't supposed to be". I only have panties to wear! I did not have a chance to go anywhere to wear an elastic band.

I think like all holidays.... Hallmark came up with the idea... Pick up your elastic band at the card store... By next year they will have Happy Dressing Day cards for sale... Bumper stickers... "Honk if your wearing panties.... And aren't supposed to be". :D

I had my rubber band on plus pink panties underneath but no sightings of other left wristed rubber band wearers during my errands today. No luck here either. Went out for a 3 mile walk (passed and passed by numerous people), then went to both an indoor mall, including food court, then to a huge outlet mall south of Austin (dark by then). Sadly, no sightings by me either. I did a walk through the big mall, and only saw women and old husbands waiting for their wives.
Hopefully some more sightings will be reported here today.:)

What I'd like to suggest is doing this a few times a year and in the warmer months. ( Up north here in November is typically colder than we experienced yesterday (62 degrees), so wearing short sleeves was no problem. Had the weather been more typical, us northerners would have been wearing jackets thus hiding our rubber bands.
Also, as Sandygal and others suggested we should include other forums to spread the word further.....
Some of the ones I'm with are:
http://crossdressers-forum.com/forums/

http://crossdresserclub.com

http://velvetboudoir.proboards106.com/index.cgi

To be honest I haven't been to them in a while, as this is home to me:D

Well... As I said, I work in an occupation which puts me in contact with a fairly large number of people on a daily basis... on my 8 hour shift yesterday, (3-11PM) if my numbers are correct, I dealt with 1481 people and noticed 7 wearing rubber bands. Of those, 3 seemed to take notice of mine although no words were said. Maybe a coincidence? I don't know, but interesting....

Aeval
11-15-2009, 11:14 PM
I wore mine all day...I even doodled on it at lunch with a sharpie to make it look a bit snazzier.

Alas, I didn't see anyone else...

I still agree that doing this maybe the second Friday of every month might be nice. Who knows...seeing the same person with a rubber band on every second Friday for a few months may be just the thing we need to approach them and start a conversation!

I even made a point in the last few days to shop where the rainbow flags are present, and stil have had no luck. I am so burnt out on caffeine as a result of all the cofeee shops in these areas.

AlanaBCD

As someone said, we don't want the whole world knowing about this, as then you might as well wear a sign that says, "I AM A CROSSDRESSER!" Granted, some might want to do this. I do not. I have been in public twice now dressed. Some have never been out, but still want their dress preference to be known without broadcasting to everyone.

We have to be careful about getting this message out. We only want fellow CDer's and supportive SO's to know.

I am all up for doing this more regularly. I would love to see other CDer's, and let them know I am one too. But I think if the population in general knew about this, it would lose the very purpose of what we are trying to say, "I am a crossdresser, but I can't dress right now. If you are a crossdresser, I am in your camp too."

How about making this a every other month thing? Second Friday, every other month? Ideas???

MyBlackTights

alot of people wear bands on their wrists, how about picking a certain color so it cuts down on the risk of asking a stranger about the band and its absolutely nothing....preferably an odd color.....so's that do not know anything about it wont even suspect, fridays or another day of the week or month aint bad either.......just my 2c :drink:

Like the idea of doing this say, every other month - the odd month like November is the 11th month, on the second Friday. Missed this thread until it was too late, and upon reading it thought doing this once a year was not enough. So every other month sounds great. Anyone else going for this idea? Need to start a new thread about it?

Keep the faith,

Heather Dur
