I think you have to follow your heart and do what you feel is the right things for you. I often feel like going full time but i have to make a living too. For me I have to accept that this is the way for me, remember you always have choices in life.

Jiminy Cricket, girl, what's with the grimace? Can't you smile? Aren't you haveing any fun? Why are you CDing if it's such a chore? Smile, sweetie. I am sure you would be quite pretty with a smile.
IMHO, if it's a wig, you're not quite ready to go full time. If you want to go full time, to live and work as a woman, then get your beard removed and grow your hair out. You certainly don't HAVE to have genital surgery to transition, but you DO need the commitment to living as a woman. You can't transition part way, and you can't switch back and forth. It just won't work.
(Wait, wait. Everyone who disagrees with me. I SAID "IMHO").
But, it is an opinion based on years and years of experience.
I personally know more than a couple of girls on this forum who live and work full time, but I don't know any who do this and switch back and forth. And I don't know any who look so unhappy.
Lovies,
Stephenie
Dump the "male specific" clothing. It will always sit there in your closet as a link to your past. Get rid of it!

I think you better start liveing as a women every chance you can and shave that beard, let your hair grow out, liveing full time a wig is a no no.

Well the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the lipstick.... Before I just decided to switch teams I'd try it out for a few days... Weeks... Months.... See if its what you want? You get saddled with a job that requires you to be female and then you decide its not for you...
Yeah I know I'm talking balsmphy.. (How ever you spell it). But for me at least... Having to be a woman 24/7 is a lot of work... More so that being a guy... And I'm just lazy enough that it could get old after a while.. Having options is always better than not...
God I sound like the voice of reason... Someone shoot me....

If it feel's wrong i say go for it. I hear what the girl's are saying about the wig's. that would be a dead give away to most employer's. I have allways wore long hair and a bandanna aka "the biker look" to hinder supsptions of my family. if full time is where you belive you need to be no since in living unhappy with your self right. let's know how it goes :hugs:
edit: i do agree with karren, try it out 24/7 for a while and make sure. you feelings might change

I think that it is possible to switch back and forth if that is what you need to do. I live full time at home and go out in public much of the time en femme. When I am in a hurry I just dress in a pseudo male mode because it takes a while to get ready to go out en femme. I say pseudo male mode because all of my clothes and shoes now are female. I wear female jackets and coats. I wear ear rings, necklaces and bracelets most of the time. My hair is long, no more wig. I am having my facial hair removed through electrolysis.
The difference between male and femme mode is that in femme mode I wear skirts, dresses, make up, perfume, high heels...
When in male mode I always wear t shirts and pants but the colors, styles and any image designs lean towards femme. Any woman who looks closely will know that there is no way that I bought any of this stuff in the men's department. Notwithstanding that in either mode I get by just fine.
I work from home much of the time so that helps, but when I go in to the office I go in pseudo male mode. People think that I am a bit weird but I get the job done and they deal with me in a proper manner. It certainly has not affected my career or my career growth.
I often think about going 100% femme, but I am taking this small steps at a time. My duaghters have seen me dressed and a small step that I took recently was being dressed in front of my son (who is less comfortable with this but is coming around) and my grandchildren who seem to take it all in stride - grandpa's in a dresss :-)
So I guess what I am saying is that you have to make choices and inch your way through this to see what works and what you can live with. It is not an easy path but it is a fulfilling one for me. Each of us have to decide for our own self what we can live with and push the envelope further as they feel they need to and as they can.
Good luck on your journey.

Well dear, of COURSE it's possible to switch back and forth. That's what most of crossdressing is all about.
But the OP said she wanted to go full time, and switching back and forth is NOT going full time. It's "switching back and forth" and it will not get you anywhere in either direction.

Darling only your heart knows what to do in this case. Karren is right. Try this out before you buy it. Being a gal is really glam for the first night or two, but after that the razor burn really begins to sting and the friggin wig is just too hot. You may find that you can't wait to hop out of bed and open your makeup drawer every day. If that is the case then it is meant to be. I spent a week this summer dressed. Every moment was a joy. The worst thing about the week was the depression I felt the first morning that I didn't dress. For some of us we are not complete unless we are en femme. For some we can't live without indulging in our masculine side. You will need to determine what that balance is. Now snatch this pebble from my hand grasshopperettte.
My recommendation on the job front is focus on TG friendly employers. There are lists of them on the internet. You can also look on the Southern Comfort Conference site for a list. Part time femme or full time femme having an employer that accepts you for who you are beats hiding in the closet from your boss.
OBTW I disagree with the girls on the wig issue. God has a sense of humor and graced me with a beautiful scalp. You can get wigs that others can't tell are your hair. You just need to spend the money on them. I personnally am a fan of human hair wigs that I can style on my own.
NO MATTER WHAT BE TRUE TO YOURSELF. Have fun with who you are, realize you have an army of sisters out there that will lend support and remember each day is just a journey. A journey to what I have no idea, but it sounds profound!
