At the cost of adding to Wendy's kitty for a crossdresser.com party, I just hafta ask a pantyhose question...
Did the pantyhose size "Queen Size" come before or after using the term "Queen" to describe gays and alternative lifestyle types? And were the two terms affected by one another, with one referring to the other, or was it just coincidental evolutionary convergence? I imagine most drag queens wear, well, "queen" size, but was the size made for them? Or did they start calling themselves queens because they wore the size and liked the sound of it? (better than Drag Dude). I'm sure a rogue etymologist in our ranks can answer this.
Ya, isn't it kinda strange that with pantyhose size, they go Small, Medium, Large, then "Queen"? As far as I know, Queen isn't a size (or even an adjective). You wouldn't say "Whoa, I just got a queen paycheck today", or "Dude, that SUV is so queen that it scrapes up to the curb when it parks".
And it isn't like the rest of the pantyhose sizes refer to nobility. "Excuse me, I was wondering if I could get those pantyhose in Dutchess size", or "My little girl has her first ballet recital, I'd better run to the store and get her some Peasant size tights".
And what's up with the sizing chart? It goes from Small, Medium, Large, to Queen, to XQ???!!! (www.silkies.com). Extra queen? Shouldn't it be Empress size?
Ah well, just thought I'd bug all of you with something inane while I go and pound my forehead against the monitor.
O
p.s. I think I owe Wendy a dollar
