I didn't want to get one this morning because I start my new job (which is exactly like my old job but better) today and I'd rather not be thinking about how I want to wear my dress all night.

I always hate how a lot stores are attached to a mall. If you don't want to get caught, the mall isn't exactly the best place to hide. I found the perfect store on the other side of town I might try in the morning, and they have pretty cheap prices on their dresses too.

Hopefully I won't get scared and run off. Wish me luck.

:hugs: I am so looking forward to hearing how it all went. I really love my dresses, heels, etc. from the stores and you will too. Actually, sometimes a good thrift shop will have nice things and a low key approach to helping you. I remember my first time was so nerve wracking but such a thrill.

you're gonna show us, aren't you?

XXs,
Mickey

Getting caught by whom? Its Christmas and even if it weren't no one cares what you buy.. Just waltz into the store and pick out what you want and try it on while your there and waltz back out.. The waltz pun was intended, princess! Lol.

Buying my first real dress tomorrow

I didn't want to get one this morning because I start my new job (which is exactly like my old job but better) today and I'd rather not be thinking about how I want to wear my dress all night.

Here's some luck, sweetie.

Hope you don't get "caught". Just who is chasing you? You're right, there aren't many places to hide in a mall. Maybe if you talked to mall security they would help you.

I find that skirts and tops fit my shape better than dresses. I am a couple of sizes bigger on top than on the bottom. So I can buy a skirt and a top in separate sizes.

So good luck hiding from whoever it is that's after you, and I hope you find a nice outfit.

Lovies,
Stephenie

Don't run off. Go in and buy the dress. If questioned by a SA tell her it's for you GF. We await the pic of your first choice

Good luck, Amy! We'll be with you, just keep that in mind! And we want to hear all about it!

My first dress-buying experience was on-line, but my second was in-store. Browsed the section, found a dress I liked in what I hoped was my size (it was), and just bought it. Granted, I wasn't trying it on or asking an SA for assistance. But I think most SAs these days are more accepting of it, so I know you'll be just fine!

We're with you, Amy! :)

I know what you're saying about getting caught. It's always been an issue for me as well. Still I urge you to do this properly. Assuming none of the store employees are anyone you know try the dresses on in the store and see how they look and fit on you. Yes it can be scary, but for me there is nothing quite like the feeling of being in the change room of a store and seeing yourself wearing a dress. It's especially nice if you deal with the SA and he or she turns out to be very cool about the whole thing.

if its a small enough dress have them put it into a small non-see through garment bag and if anyone asks its a suit! Hope this helps ya! BTW dont be scared to do what is natural for you.

So I drive downtown to a place called Rainbow. It's in a shopping center but not a regular mall. I tried to go at 10, but the store actually opens at 9 so I could've exchanged it.

I first go in and the salesgirls asks how I'm doing. I said I was looking for a gift and she suggested a few things and I walked around and looked.

Only 4 other people came into the store while I was in there. 2 black ladies who came in seperate and a mom and daughter I think.

I was alone when I got there so I take a look around, and see all the very low priced tops, skirts, and dresses. While I was looking one of the racks broke and I had to fix it (I did this on my own free will), but I ended up getting a long gray dress, a purple top, and a black fluffy skirt. It's a shame that the skirt doesn't fit, so I have to run down there in the future and get an exchange.

Oh yeah I forgot I'll have pics later today of the dress.

I know it's nothing special but you got to start somewhere.

I'll have the other outfit tommorow hopefully. Got to get a medium skirt instead of a large.
