View Full Version : Co-worker's support

As many know I started my transition and RLE this past October. Life has been good with few road hazards. Today I had taken my timesheet to the front office, which is across the campus from where I work, and ran into a co-worker. He stopped me saying he had something to give me which is strange because I couldn't think of anything he would have for me. It turns out his daughter works for the University of MN and she had been in book study group and finished the book "Trans-sister Radio". He had mentioned my transition and she gave him her book to get to me. I thanked him for the thought and we talked a little while and then back to work.

I tell you this in a way of saying some of the support comes in a form you don't think of or from the ones you have identified with in the past.:). So if you find that person who is on the fringe of your aquaintences stops you and has something nice to say or share, by all means be grateful.

Thought you all would like to hear. Huggs Teri

The best support comes from unexpected sources. Read the book, you will enjoy it. Then read "She's Not There", a true story.

How about a quickie book report when you're done ? I've not heard of that one before ("She's not there" is great). In case book report seems odd ... you did say campus ...

Trans-sister Radio is pretty good work from a cisgendered writer. It is not exploitative and pretty accurate, I find.

Teri that's a beautiful story...so nice to hear and I'm very happy for you

I wonder if its easier sometimes for your 2nd and 3rd best friends to support you than your best friends (the ones that know you are the best)

I've been in your territory a lot over the years! My brother went to college at G.A. in St. Peter and the Twin Cities are a fav place to visit ... for art and groceries (yes, I'm strange ...)

Congrats on the ID, I know what you mean about the little things. My Drivers Lic is going to take a while as they require a new birth Cert here ... and Hawaii is slow on such... patience is a virture !!

aww.. what a great thing to hear! I can't tell you enough how nice it continues to be to hear positive things coming from SO MANY directions in regards to Trans issues. It makes me want to nearly dance in the streets with joy at the reality that so many more people are opening their minds and hearts to us. Kudos to you and to your coworker(s)! May your journey continue to be a wonderful one!

Well sister and brothers the snow storm is past and the east coast is getting it now, sorry. I also finished the book "Trans-sister Radio" and thought it was very good. I thought the ending was interesting but was predictable earlier on. I will have to send a card to my co-worker's daughter thanking her for the book.

For everyone I want to offer a much deserved Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
