Hi Everyone,
I know I don't post very often here, but I do read alot of the threads and keep a journal here so I kinda feel part of this community. I just wanted to give a quick update on the past two weeks of my transition. First I have told everyone at my office that I will be coming to work in January as Jenn. The HR rep and I had a brief meeting with all the various department managers in my building and they were all very supportive. Once they were informed, an email was sent out company wide advising everyone of my transition. I must have received 2 dozen emails of support and congratulations, I was so touched by that.
So that left me with one final group to come out too. Actually, two groups. The guys I play hockey with on Fridays and Sundays. I was a nervous wreck, but I knew I had to do it. I want to keep playing, so I spoke to the organizers of both nights first. They were surprised but one told me right away that I would always be his friend and teammate and that I had a spot on the ice not matter what. The other guy was non-commital but email me two days later to said that he was ok with it as long as I worked out a dressing room arrangement with the other girl who plays with us. Also, they both wanted me to tell the other players before Christmas. So this past weekend, I announced to everyone what was happening with me and that I would be returning to the ice in January as Jenn. All and all, everyone took it well and wished me all the best. The girl who plays with us is ok with me changing in her room, but she wants us to get dressed one at a time, until she gets more comfortable with the idea.

Finally, I submitted my application for my change of name from Jeffrey to Jennifer last week. Wel yesterday it got approved and I received my Official Change of Name certificate and I am legally, Jennifer Elizabeth W....

YAAYYYYYYY!!

So, as you can see it has been a nerve wracking and exciting holiday season so far. Can't wait to see what 2010 brings!!

Awesome. Impressed with how professionally you handle this. Clear and precise communication in advance seems to be the way to do it.

All the best. And thanks a lot for the inspiration and how this worked out so fine.

hugs
