i have often wondered how do you ladies choose the names you have?

i have asked julia on occasion but she does not really know (one of the first things we did together was decide on a better name as the original did not really suit i don't think)

i just wondered if it were someone you once knew or just a name you thought suited?

Kelly :)

I did this a while ago in spite of several other threads on the same subject. So without repeating, here's the link to my thread:

Gemma suited me best, I tried female equilivant's of my male name, which is Glen, the ones which matched were Glenna, Glenda, Glynis etc. and they all seemed old fashioned, no offense to anyone who has chosen these names, they just wern't me. Gemma seemed to have a youthfulness to it and so it has stuck, my full fem name is Gemma Dawn Hughes, Dawn is my Sammi's middle name and Hughes is my step-daughter's surname.

Karen rhymes with my crossdress-loving wife's name. We had gone on Adultfriendfinder.com lkg for other couples with a bi-wife and xdrg hubby. Amazingly, we found only FOUR other couples in the entire US!!!

Hmmm, may have the making of a new thread.

While that doesn't make any sense, it was a combination that made for great word-play.

Thanks for asking - and thank you for participating here. We need more GGs.

We-e-ell, I needed a name to identitify this other part of me, and it had to be clearly different from my male name, to separate the two "halves" foreverever. I had just joined crossdressers forums and wanted to find a name by which to sign in and be part of the discussions.

I batted a whole load of names around. Every time I heard a name, or thought of one, I would try saying "Hi, I'm ............. " and every one sounded wrong, like a bum note in a symphony. Then "Natalie" appeared from no-where, and sounded right to me, so I picked it up and ran with it. I think it suits my personality, somehow.

Hiya Kelly.

Here's a cut & past from an earlier response to a similar thread.

Deciding on a name for my feminine self was as difficult as naming our Son!

For years i never even needed a fem name as my crossdressing times were few and far between. However, when it came to the time where i thought it would be nice to have a name for my 'girl', the name Laura popped into my head and i settled on that for the interim.

But back in 2001/02 when my wife was pregnant, we were considering names for the baby and she suggested Laura if was to be a girl! Arrggg! Since my wife did not know about my CD'ing, i couldn't have the same name as my child (we had a boy anyway).

Recently, when i asked my wife to do a makeup job on me for fun (she's an AVON rep), she said no way Christine! So at that point, i accepted that name - thank you dear! For these forums, i didn't want to use my real surname (its an uncommon one and would be quickly recognised by people who know me), so while wondering what name to use, i heard a TV news reporter say her name, so i thought that would do - so that's where the Johnstone comes from!

Anyway, i'm reasonably happy with my title - what do you think of it?

Christine.

I thought I had posted how I came up with my name on the thread Tristen mentioned above but it's not there.....must be somewhere else. I never had a femme name until I became interested in joining a support group. I didn't want a name that reminded me of someone else and neither my wife or I knew a Jennifer. When I joined here that name was taken as was Jenny so I added a middle name. My wife's middle name is Elizabeth and since she helped so much in developing my female personna I thought Beth was fitting since there is so much of her in me.

Well Originally I went by the name of Natalie but more recently I decided to switch to Heather. Heather just seems to fit me better. Natalie was just too close to my male name, and I just really wanted to get away from that. So, here we have Heather! Now I just need to think of a middle name

I found mine in a curious place, on my birth certificate. My P & M must have known I was destined to be a girly-mon, so they gave me a gender-ambiguous middle name. So I just use it instead of my Christian name and I don't have to go through any legal rigamarole. :D

Amanda Leigh

A friend of mine helped me pick out Amanda....Leigh is the female form of my middle name and Bellinder is my wife's maiden name....she thought it fitting that Amanda take her last name instead of me keeping myown

Christina happens to be the name of my wife's best friend. This woman is smart, strong, independent. and open-minded. She was very very friendly with the alternate lifestyle crowd in college, the gay,bi-sexual, cd's, etc. The kind of person one would like to be, and a perfect model for a femme name.

Plus, she has great style!

I picked Amy because its a preppy bubbly cheerleader type name. I was always envious of the cheerleaders in high school and wanted to be one of them.

My mother wanted to call me Deborah if i was born a girl. Sometimes i wonder if that name would suit me better. Debbie sounds good too.

I picked Toni because it is my name - I just changed the last letter of it. I'm sure I have written this before.

Mandy Salamander

Actually,,,Salamander has been my nickname for as long as anyone can remember,,probably due to a fascination with anything slithery or slimy, reptilian or amphibian in nature,,,which, incidentally, I've never outgrown,,,,, Mandy, just happens to be a fave femme name that sounds really cool with Salamander,,,,,and have been going by this same name for thirty years,,,,,so it goes...
