I don't think I've had a new dress in... forever. I think the only new thing (which was actually used) was a denim skirt my wife donated to me like a year ago.. I wanna buy a new outfit so badly (just saw a beautiful B&W polka dot dress on ebay for $32 shipped), but I just refuse to do it. I've convinced myself that I don't want to waste money on women's clothing until I loose weight and can fit into a smaller dress size... how many others are in this mindset?

That is one of the girliest things ever said! :D

Hi, Jo_Ann,
I had that kind of thinking some time back around buying my usual men's clothes. It was only when I began to dress as a woman that I began eating less and, of course, losing weight.
I have a hunch that if you buy some article of inexpensive women's clothing and wear it, you'll suddenly be less interested in food. Perhaps denying yourself the clothing you hunger for is making you eat beyond your needs
to nuture yourself from the deprivation.
Here in New York I recently bought a very nice black skirt for $7, well worth it to me.
Best of luck. :)

or.. how about I do like some women do.. buy a dress one size too small and force myself to fit into it.. then again if I wanted a dress too small I could just raid my wife's section of our closet :)

Wow! That was esoteric... but makes a lot of sense!!!
Okay... get the dress one size smaller... or get this one and screw the $32 bucks. BTW... I love polka dots!!!
Next... find some of those dresses that have the ties in the back. That's what I did for a long time. Lots of them are really cute, too.
Lastly... start taking MSM (tablets or powder). It helps to regulate your cravings for things like salt and sugar. Plus... it helps to get rid of wrinkles!!! Don't laugh... 10 years from now, you will thank me!!! :p
Good luck, Hon!!!
[Addendum: MSM is available at your local, gender-friendly health food store... or online, I'm sure!]
[Addendum 2: Scratch the 'one size smaller' idea... we both posted at the same time!]

Not anymore - i just lost 15 kilos in 10 weeks!
But the way i did it is not recommended by health professionals. My weight loss was stress related and i essentially starved myself which brought on its own associated problems.
As for a practical answer to your Q, if you are borderline in size to the next dress size down, i'd buy it and work on the diet to fit into it comfortably. If your weight is going to take some work to get down to that smaller size, i'd suggest you just buy the dress in your current size and wear it. You'll just cause yourself some unnecessary grief by holding back. We all need to actually wear these things - not dream about maybe wearing them.
Its a case of which alternative is more achieveable for happiness in the near future for you.

at the beging of this year i was 195/ 200 pounds yes a lot of wendy ...being lazey and likeing to eat ..then a lot of my fav. things seamed to shrink ...omg was i growing ???
then i just made up my mind time to fix this ...i hade a goal trhat if i got to a size 14 then i would buy some jeans....eating right not eating a lot of junk food ...salids ....and moveing around a lot walking and keeping busey i got into them size 13/14 jeans.....and now in a size 9....trying to get into a size 8 but thats still a while away....but comming .... from 195/ 200 pounds t0 162 pounds.......
look it's not easy to do but set some short term goals something that you can do and reward you for doing it ..then move along to the next goal ...rember gaining a few pounds along the way is not the end of the world ...although it seams like it ....stay with it you can do it .....

Christine........You worry me! Would you look after yourself? Please?
Jo ann, The feel of leaving your clothes all over the floor, because you couldn't decide between the new and the old, is just.....AWESOME!
Hearing your wife, go nuts at your "girly side" for doing it, is really "I didnt do it!" LOL :p

I can buy anything I want from size 4 to size 10. This is because I lost weight from 205 lbs (size 16) to today's 140.2 lbs (size 6 for a good fit). Size 4 is tight on me. Size 2 is too small, though I fit one size 2 jacket I have.
And I don't even diet, I eat some junk food, but I bike a lot. I eat a 500 calorie breakfast and then a good lunch and dinner. I mostly drink diet sodas and for Potato Chips I eat Ruffles Light.
It took me 2 years to lose 65 lbs. But if you bike 14 to 20 hours a week at 75% Max Heart Rate you can lose 42 lbs in 3 months.
