I know, this is a long shot and I hope this was the right place to post.

I am traveling to Cairo for two weeks on business. Which means I will have an entire weekend to myself. What is a girl to do?

I guess I am just a bit concerned about my safety and stuff.

Has anyone been to Egypt or is there anyone from there that can offer some advice?

Wikipedia says since 2000 there's been a ban (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Egypt) (with criminal penalties for LGBT (within which they evidently include crossdressing)). You may want to (seriously now) call the State Department and see what they recommend. They don't care that you CD but they don't want to see you end up in the news....

Uh, ... I think a girl should stay home and let the business person go earn some money for a future shopping trip. For that weekend alone ... go take some pictures of the Pyramids

I would keep Abigail in the hotel room and limit her to only a few outfits. A girl still has to feel pretty even if it's only for herself.

Don't even take anything into the country. You could buy some stuff there "for your wife" or "girlfriend". But keep it in the hotel.

Can you imagine being sentenced to "death by stoning" and being made to pile up the rocks they are going to use? Girl clothes stay at home!!!!:D

please do not do any dressing while there, as some relegions do not allow cd to live. getting stoned to death has a very deffernt meaning in that part of the world.

Hi
I visited Egypt. There are Tourist guards armed with AK47s everywhere ( to protect what is a third of the country's income!) and when we walked through a market in Cairo we had an armed escort. ( Pistol, I'm told he would occasionally flash it just to let people know it was there.) And that was because we were Westerners... Not sure how they would react to Crossdressed Westerners.
In any event... even on a misunderstanding, Egyptian jail is no place to be.
It's an amazing place tough. For sure enjoy it and spend some money... they tend to love you if you do. Just My experience. Have fun!

“Man dressed as woman arrested while eating sausage in mosque.” Yea, that would not make Allah’s day.

Actually, a guy WAS spotted in a Burka. He walked to the back of a bus in a full burka and the ladies, also in burkas, made him. They manhandled him and threw him off the bus. If you wear a burka... be SURE you wear ladies shoes!

Abigail: My wife and I spent 3 weeks in Egypt last Feb. We travelled the whole Nile valley from the Sudanese border in the south to Alexandria on the Mediterranean in the north.Egypt has a secular government with a president and prime minister as opposed to a place like Saudi Arabia which has a monarchy and its constitution is the Koran. The population of Egypt is about 90% muslim so keep that in mind. We found the people in Egypt very friendly and tolerant.Cairo, with 22 million people is the most populated city in all of Africa. Initially it appears to be chaotic, but one settles in quickly to the surroundings. We felt very safe there even after midnight.Police are at every corner, and outside Cairo there are military road blocks everywhere. The military holds the power, and the police play second fiddle.I took my femme clothing, but only dressed in our apartment. But then I do not go out dressed here either.Men wear the Thobe(the long outer robe), and the women wear the Burqa. I would not recommend wearing the Burqa, as it may be construed as offending the dignity of the muslim female.I doubt you would be stoned to death in Egypt, but I would not risk ending up in an Egyptian jail as a crossdresser. You will be harassed constantly for baksheesh(money), and the local and tourist markets in Cairo are a must.It can be quite exhausting, but just enjoy the experience. The Egyptian museum in Cairo just boggles the mind. The Pyramids at Giza-Alexandria.If you can get down to Luxor, and from there to Abu Simbel-just amazing.I could go on and on.Take your clothes, and decide when you get there. My personal opinion is that no one will care.Be sure to let us know how you got on.I`d like to see Abigail on a camel at the Pyramids.LOL.Enjoy your trip.

I have just got back from a christmass break in egypt with my wife, if there is one thing the men do best over there its thinking they are gods gift to a woman.
They will talk to every western girl they see and will not leave you alone, hate to think what would happen if they found out you were dressed as a girl....

Good Thought!

I am reminded of those old car accident prevention public service announcements:
