Just got back from the book store and on my way outside, but I wanted to jot this thought down..
Kind of strange for Phoenix, but we got quite a bit of rain today, and it was still raining when I got home. I thought it would be relaxing to sit out on the patio with a fire in the pit and read a bit. But I just finished my last book and need to go to the bookstore to get another. I quickly showered, threw on a jean skirt and as always the same stupid song keeps running around in my head as I’m putting on makeup. Burl Ives’s Ugly Bug Ball.:whistling:
Thank goodness whenever the wife and I go anywhere together as the two girls she always starts the drive of with Cindy Laupers Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.:GD:
Anybody else silly enough to have their own dressing “theme song”?

"As Girls Go" by Suzanne Vega probably comes close to my theme song. Though if I'm in New Orleans "Take Your Mamma" by the Scissor Sisters would work...

I soppose, Tom Jones' "She's a Lady." But, that is Kim Komando's theme! Let's see...uh...uh...maybe "Lady Willpower", a 60's song by Gary Puckett and The Union Gap, maybe "Long cool woman in a black dress." Hollies. Maybe, "Long, tall woman." Don't know the group. "She's got Legs!" ZZ Top. All would be nice, but, just remembered an Elvis song, that fits me, "Long-legged girl with the short dress on!"

"Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman, but she was another man.
All the other girls thought she had it comin' but she gets it while she can."

- from the Beatles live rooftop performance of "Get back".

Bit obvious but gotta be Shania Twain"man i feel like a woman"and this from a C & W phobic,or "shes my man" by the Scissor Sisters.
also love the Shadows "apache" just cause of the scene in the movie "scandal" when the two girls get dressed together in front of vanity.

When out in car dressed, have to put Girls Aloud on the cd player

I don't make it a habbit to play it when I'm dressed, or dressing up, but I get a kick out of hearing Aerosmith's "Dude looks like a lady."

You guys should go and check out 'King for a Day' by Greenday on youtube.

Started at the age of four,
My mother went to the grocery store,
Went sneaking through her bedroom door,
To find something in a size four,

Sugar and spice and everything nice wasn't made for only girls,
GI-Joe in pantie hose is making room for the one and only
KING FOR A DAY...

My daddy threw me in therapy,
He thinks I'm not a real man,
Who put the 'drag' in the drag queen?
Don't knock it untill you've tried it!

Seriously, if youre not familiar, check it out.
Its a great light hearted touch on the subject.

Not really but if I ever had my own CD sitcom, the theme would be Pat Benatar's "Hit me with your best shot.":battingeyelashes::)

DING DONG!! THE WITCH IS DEAD!! WHICH OLD WITCH? THE WICKED WITCH!!

Originally from the Wizard of Oz I think - but much funnier in Naked Gun.

And that's not just for dressing up/makeup. That rolls around in my head constantly. I think I need help. :)

Into the Light by Alice Peacock.

Here's the first verse and chorus:

i'm not asking for perfection
i only ask that you try
'cause you keep looking for answers outside yourself
when you've had them the whole time
it's time to see yourself as holy
time to see yourself complete
it's time to set aside the anger
and the spirit of defeat

come into the light
yeah, be the one you're born to be
into the light
wake up from your lonely sleep
the shadows can conceal what the heart longs to heal
come into the light

Hugs...Joni Mari

It was the first time I ever seriously shopped for Women's clothing in some thrift store, the Paul McCartney song "I can see the world tonight" was playing on the store radio. Plus, when I was coming back from Colorado to have the house to myself for a month, that song was playing a lot. Of course getting en femme for the first time was on my mind the whole trip.
So that with a few other weird songs, like Mercyful fate's "Evil", cause I was listening to it the first time I ever was getting ready to hit some gay club.

Not sure why but I pretty much can;t stand any song that makes a TG reference. Just seems like a mockery. "Dude looks like a lady" is my most hated.

Karen: "I Wanna Drive The Zamboni" is my SO's theme song!
We've been trying to figure out a way to actually get her to drive a Zamboni somewhere.
My favorite hockey song is one that they used to play at my local ECHL team's games that I can't find anywhere now.
It's about a guy from Canada who is asked if he plays hockey and he replies "do I play hockey? I play ice hockey, table hockey, air hockey..... etc."

Thanks Karen; that's it. I've been looking for it forever and could not find it.
We got an ECHL expansion team 90 mins from where I lived and I followed them from day one. They played all the hockey songs during breaks in the action and distributed a booklet called "Hockey for Southerners" sponsored by KFC that explained the rules.
Good memories!

I don't really have a theme song. Well, I guess "I GOTTA BE ME!" Sung like Ethel Merman at the top of my lungs....

Other than that I love listening to ABBA, Melisa Etheridge, Levis Kriess, Madonna and the Go Go's when I am getting dressed. My IPOD is ringing out the soundtracks to Glee right now.

Well, I guess "I GOTTA BE ME!" Sung like Ethel Merman at the top of my lungs....

Ethel Merman, eh? That reminds me:

There's no business like show business
Like no business I know
Everything about it is appealing
Everything that traffic will allow
Nowhere could you get that happy feeling
When you are stealing that extra bow

There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low
Yesterday they told you you would not go far
That night you open and there you are
Next day on your dressing room they've hung a star
Let's go on with the show...

The costumes, the scenery, the makeup, the props
The audience that lifts you when you're down
The headaches, the heartaches, the backaches, the flops
The sherriff who'll escort you out of town
The opening when your heart beats like a drum...
The closing when the customers don't come...

There's no business like show business
Like no business I know
You get word before the show has started
That your favourite uncle died at dawn
And top of that, your pa and ma have parted
You're broken-hearted, but you go on

There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low
Even with a turkey that you know will fold
You may be stranded out in the cold
Still you wouldn't change it for a sack of gold
Let's go on with the show
Let's go - on with the - show...
