ZOMG! I have been asked to speak to the American Medical Womens Association. Not sure about the details yet. A room full of gg doctors...wow...talk about acceptance. They heard good things about my last talk.

I speak on the topic for the state as well. More of a cultural competency approach but I always have with me the publications written by doctors on trans medicine and such.
In any case you go girl. By the way how is the wait comming? If I had to guess the last few days have been getting really long and that one special day feels wayyyyyyyyy tooo far away!!!

How about a drug to cure trans people from being trans. It could replace the conversion therapy that works sooooo well. LOLOLOLOL

What a great honor! I am sure you will do yourself and your sisters proud.Have you given any more thought in regards to to posting the tape your first address? I know that you were a bit aprehensive about doing so, but I think it may go a long way in helping your sisters right here on this site.
Maybe all you need is some encouragement................Ladies!
What ever you decide, I wish you continued success, and the best that life has to offer

the file from julies first talk is to large to fit on the site, though it was amusing watching the q&a section :p and im sure that any sincere requests by members to julie would get you a copy of it sent to you (it is a large file and takes a while to transfer though)

Julie,
Do you find people of higher education and status more willing to accept trans-gender people more readily than the average person might? Perhaps I'm selling the average person short in such matters.
Let us know how it all goes and maybe it's a candidate for UTube?
Good luck
Sharon

Thanks everyone...I do seem to be falling into this...and I get really scared...but the possibility to help others learn about us and that we are real is too great an opportunity...so I buck up and get in front of the mic...
I have to remember that yes I am a women, but I will always be trans...as much as I wish not...no amount of deep stealth can deny that...so I want to make things better for trans...
Now what to wear...it's dress up for sure...I have a skirt suit pinstripe...may model it today...:heehee:

When I went on a research conference to Maine (early RLE) I was sitting in the library of a mansion having a lobster dinner with some of the most intelligent/accomplished scientists and the level of warmth and acceptance was overwhelming...next to me was a full Harvard Medical school professor, a program director at NIH, a research director at one of the most prestigious independent laboratories in the world (Noble Laureates teach there)...etc...to a person the educated and accomplished seem to get it...and they know it takes guts...

Congratulations, Julie! I'm sure you'll do a superb job.
Concerning posting the MP3 of the first talk, did you know about iTunes U? It's a great resource for posting educational material. I'm not familiar with the posting process, might be tied to your university. And the good news is that it's free and accessible by everyone.
Take care,

So glad you are doing this for whatever reasons you are. Our society is growing, slowly but surely, and your talk(s) are another important, of many, steps to get transgender folks and issues raised.
btw' I have no orator training, but due to being a recovering alcoholic I have spoken in front of numerous large groups of people. I find for myself it really helps if I concentrate on the message I am trying to convey and do not concern myself with what the crowd thinks of the messenger. A friend of mine put it to me this way, If I say something that helps someone, regardless of how bad my orator skills were and regardless of what everyone thinks of me, if I have said that one thing that helps someone, i have been successful. However, no matter how well my talk, how wonderful my oratory skills and how impressed everyone is with me, if I have failed to say something that helps someone I have utterly failed.
Anyway, best of luck to you Julie, You ROCK!!! and I am glad it is you who is going to educate others about transgender stuff.
