Okay! I can't keep it to Myself anymore!!

I was going to wait to announce this the night before...but...One week from today, I am going to be leaving to drive down to Florida to get My chest done...It's paid for, the pre-ops are all done and the doctor down there has the approval from My doctor....so, it's a GO! I will arrive in Florida on Sunday, the surgery will be the following Tuesday (Feb. 2)....so....anyway, just wanted to let you all know...(I've been keeping this under My hat for a while because I didn't want anything to jinx it)....I had it scheduled once before and it ended up blowing up in My face...this time, it's on....and I wanted to share that news with all of you...My good friends here on the board...and, in many ways....My family....:hugs::D:thumbsup::drink:

Well.....No pianos have come rolling down the street thusfar to prevent Me from going.....so....Looks like I am leaving tomorrow for Florida (god, that's a long drive, 1217 miles)....Will hit the road tomorrow afternoon, but will probably post before I leave....so....I will let you all know when I get there....Then the pre-op appointment on Monday....and surgery on Tuesday (not sure what time, yet)....My girlfriend is meeting Me there, she's flying down....She will get there first (Saturday evening) and will check into the hotel...I am hoping to drive pretty much straight through with a rest stop of a few hours at some point (not going to stop for an over-night, just plan to pull over someplace and get some rest)....I just want to GET there....but, if I have to sleep someplace (ie: a motel or whatever) on the way down, I will....Anyway, just wanted to update you all and let you know it's still full steam ahead on the chest surgery....:thumbsup::D:drink:

In Florida, surgery is tomorrow...:) I have an appointment today at four with the surgeon...Not sure yet what time I have to be at the surgical center in the morning....Will give more details when I know them....Not scared at all, just really anxious for it to all be done....It's been a long time coming....I'm not sure I even believe it yet...LOL Guess I will when I wake up sore as hell....Not that I care, I will go through WHATEVER it takes to just be done with this....Hard to believe today is the last day I will ever have to worry about binders, etc. Fifty years in the wrong body....tomorrow, I get the RIGHT one....:D:thumbsup::drink::drink: (and, I'm here with My roommate, who is great....and....My lady came all the way from Canada to be here with Me....she's wonderful...she really is....I am just feeling really blessed and lucky right now....Please send all the good energy tomorrow you can....:hugs:

Well.....I am back at the hotel, pillows propped up all around Me....but I am typing....:) The surgery went well, the doctor expects the results post-healing to be excellent....The procedure took about two hours, I woke up and they kept Me a very short period of time because I woke up and got up into a chair right away....I have some pain, but not too bad, really...Pain meds help a lot....I expected to be in more pain than I am, but Lisa says it's because of the pain meds they gave Me there before I left....If this post makes no sense (it does to Me), blame the anesthesia....I'm still a little fuzzy-headed.....Will keep you all updated, thanks for the good energy....It worked! :hugs::thumbsup::D

Update....Incredibly, I am having very little pain.....Can't sleep, though....I am a chronic insomniac, but I figured with the pain pills, I would sleep at least some...but I can't sleep on My back, never have been able to, and I'm not allowed to lay on My side or stomach (obviously)....There is hardly anything in the drains at all....I really feel quite good for someone who just had surgery 18 hours ago....I can already tell her did a really good job, though....The bandages will come off and the drains will come out on Monday....I'm excited to see how it looks! Again, thanks so much for the care and support...I will keep you posted....:hugs::D:drink:

I too could not ever sleep on my back well i always sleep on my tummy but for the 3 months after op i couldent do that!
What i found was if i used pillows to make it so im almost sitting while i sleep that helped also pillows under each arm so the weight of my arms dident pull on my chest.

Glad to hear your not in too much pain and dont forget rest as much as you can for the first 2 weeks at least

Thanks everyone for the good wishes, I appreciate them a lot...I'm pretty nauseous from the meds now, but still not a lot of pain....and I'm really tired, it would be nice to be able to sleep more than I am (am getting an hour or so here and there)....but I have to say, I thought it would be far worse than it has actually turned out to be....I was extremely impressed with both Dr. Garramone and the surgical center....Excellent care....Both called Me today to see how I was doing, the doctor and the center....and I can already tell I am going to like the results just by how flat I am with the bandages....It's funny to know your chest is re-done and have no idea where your nipples are....LOL....Guess I will find out on Monday....When you have this done, they remove them, trim them down, and re-position them on your chest....and you lose feeling there, so....I have no idea where they actually are now or what they look like....The unveiling is Monday morning at ten...Guess I will see it then....:) All I know is, this is it....The final thing....Two years on T, now this...and I am ready and able now to just LIVE MY LIFE....The transition is over, I am there....Have a wonderful girlfriend, wonderful friends, and a whole new lease on life....:hugs: :thumbsup::drink::D

Update.....Feeling better today than yesterday...I haven't had much pain at all, but yesterday, I did feel pretty wiped out....Slept/rested off and on....and the bandage got pretty tight for a while due to swelling (which is normal)....Woke up this morning and it felt like the swelling has gone down some, although the bandage is still tight....Less coming out of the drains now, although, really, I haven't had a ton of drainage....I haven't taken any pain meds since last night and I don't really feel like I need to....Being here in Florida where it's so beautiful, I much prefer NOT to be all doped up so that I can get out and at least enjoy some of the benefits of being here..There's a lot going on, this being Super Bowl week...There are a lot of concerts, events, etc. here in Fort Lauderdale relating to the Super Bowl since it's pretty much "down the street" in Miami....The Barenaked Ladies are having a free concert on the beach right outside our hotel on Saturday night, which we are planning on going to....things like that....anyway....that's My update, will keep you all posted....:D:drink:

Update....I'm on My way back to Ohio....The appointment on Monday went really well, he took the bandages off and the drains out and it looks GREAT!! :) The scar lines are really thin and he didn't need to connect them in the middle....it's really tight....and really flat.....:) I am more than happy and would recommend this surgeon to anyone....I will take some pics when I get home and post them (not bare chested ones, lol)....For eight days post op, I am in almost no pain, just a little soreness...It feels so great to just put on a shirt, no binder or anything, and walk out the door....It's a whole new life....and I'm loving it....:thumbsup::drink:

Thanks again everyone for your good wishes....:) I can't tell you how much it's meant to Me....You are all really wonderful.....Anyway....I'm home.....Just a bit sore and a tiny bit of swelling now, which I didn't have before, but that's normal....and it will go down in a few weeks....Otherwise, I feel great....I'm not allowed to lift or reach for things and I have to keep close tabs on the nipple grafts, but I really do feel fantastic...This surgery was so much easier than I thought it would be....The doctor I had was Garramone, he is in Fort Lauderdale, FL....I would absolutely recommend him to anyone who needs this particular procedure, he really is the best....and his prices are very reasonable, too....The surgery center he uses is clean, very well run.....and everyone there was extremely nice to Me....He does a lot of FtM chests there, so they are used to it....No being treated like there is anything different about you...Just good, professional care....and you get five copies of your gender change letter, which is very well written (and all five copies are notarized originals, which is what the SS, DMV, and passport office want)....He does fantastic work, is very nice on a personal level, and his office staff is very friendly....They treat their patients very well....I took his office girls some pink and red mini cupcakes to say thank you when I stopped by there as I was leaving FL to pick up My letters....Just a really wonderful experience....and....I'm back....:) :D:thumbsup::drink:
