I spent 12 years in the army and did a year in Iraq.
Depending on your point of view crossdressing was either impossible or done al the time.
I couldn't wear women's clothes out there but the thing to remember is that over there the female soldiers wore the exact same thing that I was wearing so I was wearing female clothes.

I served in the U.S. Navy for four years on a carrier fixing F-14 Tomcats. During that whole time I made it a point to completely bury and abandon Debbie. If any of my crew knew I may have found myself swimming with the fishes in the dark of night.

24 years in most of it active Army. I wasn't ready to hang up my spurs so now I am in the Reserves. I am a Cavalryman, Cavalrywoman???? that has seen the world from the hatch of a Tank or Bradley. Korea, Germany, Desert Storm, 2 Balkan tours, 2 trips to Iraq and getting ready for a farewell tour to Afghanistan. After that I am going to trade the spurs and Stetson in on heels and a tiara.

The only thing more comfortable to me than being in uniform is being in a comfy sundress.

12.5 years Nuclear Power Plant Operator mechanic. I did time onboard the USS John C. Stennis and USS George Washington. Also was an instructor and did some dressing during my time. Also, had shaved legs and wore tights and hoses during my duty days. I really did care that much about getting caught cause I wasn't the only one. We had open gay guys in our division and also another CD guy. One chief even commented that he looked amazing as a women when he saw him.

I have never been a member of the Armed Forces but i have at least three TV/TS friends who have served their country with distinction,My friends Fiona and Sarah were in The Royal Marines and the S.A.S, respectively, both of the toughest Regiments in the British Army,But to see them dressed up and looking oh so feminine, you would never have guessed, they look so amazing and girly

My friend Gladys,is quite a celebrity in our local community, she was subject of a TV documentary, and is Scotlands oldest TS,completing transition at 70 years young,But in a former life she was a captain in the Black Watch, serving in Burma, with some amazing stories, even Involving at least one major Hollywood movie star(no names :) am sure there is far more trans ppl in the worlds Armed Forces

If only they could, use their femininity in their careers, maybe the world wouldnt be as troubled as it is,Oh well,A girl can dream

God Bless All the men and women fighting for the worlds freedom, always in our thoughts and prayers

Over 29 years so far (finally got my promotion to E-8 the other day! Woo hoo!) in both Active and Reserve, tours to many fun places, Egypt, Korea, Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, Denmark, Australia and more - dressed in each one (except Kuwait. It was one of those, "You're leaving tomorrow" kind of things, and, not knowing my conditions onsite I didn't pack any girly stuff). Basically, I'm having so much fun, they'll have to kick me out!

It was the late 60s and I was strongly against the Viet Nam war but not ready to leave for Canada. I joined the USNR for 6 years and did 2 active riding tin cans and chasing Russian submarines. At the time I hated everything military but loved being at sea. Looking back at it now,I'm glad I served but still have trouble following stupid orders.

20+ in USCG. HAZMAT response. I loved responding and coordinating it all. Secure from the scene at O'dark hundred, usually the last one and departing dressed, doing a final telephonic debrief to all parties. aaahhh memories. I did learn not to be out and about while on call. Bit of a delayed response then...

6 years in the Army National Guard in the artillery, was an E-6 when I got out. I guess for me it was OK but the drills for the most part was a waste of time. I never felt like it really served the country. Maybe that is was reason we were never given veterans benefits like those who served full time.

I served in the Navy for six years. Some of those years were very lonely
and painful for trans people. One night in a baracks in Jacksonville a friend
came to me late at night whispering and in a painful voice told me that he
was going home.I remember sitting straight up in my bunk and noticing
the pink sling backs, matching pink dress and diane carol wig he was
wearing.I was shocked and saddened both at the same time. You see,
he had just declared himself homosexual and was told he had to leave
the base immediately. That was the social climate in the armed forces
in the early nineteen eighties.A all-out witchhunt agains gays, transmen
and crossdressers. The declaration of homosexuality ment next day
expulsion, regardless as to where you were or where your ship was in
the world.I never saw my friend again.Too frightened for my own self,
I kept my little secret hidden and masked behind patriotism and duty.
These were the days before dont ask, dont tell. Many good people were
administratively discharged for nothing more than rumor or inference.
And the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy is just as bad because the
punishment for being gay or trans has remained.Do the right thing congress
and get rid (for all time) of this stupid policy....dana.

Just wondering if any on else was in armed forces. I'm a mean green marine in 5" heel's

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, eh? :heehee:

I can guess why you crossdress, and it has absolutely nothing to do with my own reason (or desire) to crossdress. I would explain further, but I’m sure you wouldn’t want to read what I have to say, especially during these insecure times. Alles klar? Frankly, I’m much more impressed that you’re a crossdresser, "mean" or otherwise…

I'm Glad that you can guess why I crossdress. I wish you would tell me as I've been trying to figure it out for a very long time. Over 50 years. And as for my military service I was proud to serve my country so that you and other's like you can have the freedom to do whatever you like. Weather I was mean or not, I did what I had to do . But I'm much better now.

I have to wonder if the repealing of don't ask don't tell will have any impact on crossdressing. As the military seems to correlate homosexuality and crossdressing as one in the same.

Didn't really go anywhere

Those who stick it out for so many years, that is excellent.
Army life just was not for me, I was the one who got stuck with most of the crappy "details" so come time to leave, I was gone.

Don't Ask Don't tell is almost gone and people ignored it any way. I spent 14 1/2 yrs in the army from Dec 65 to Sept 80. Mostly Inf and Eng and some ADA I remember my old Sn. 23 (well, almost) years in the Royal Air Force. Dressed often but always afraid of being "outed". In the early days (80-90) any arberation was a discharge offence. Knew only one gay man who was discharged after 17 years and two CD'ers. In the RAF you get an immediate pension after 22 years if you keep your nose clean. One CD'er was caught wearing someone elses panties and nightie in family accomadation late at night and had to be arrested by the military police for his own protection. We never saw him/her again.

Started 3 years enlisted Navy ('87-'90), dressed once in the privacy of my barracks room (what the hell was I thinking!).

5 years Marine Officer ('94-'99, who'd-a thunk-it!), never dared dress then! Patti emerged within 3 months of my last day on Active Duty.

.

3 years Army, 1961 - 64, one tour in Korea patrolling the DMZ with the 7th ID then 18 months with the 1st ID at Ft. Riley, Kansas.
Already posted about about making Sgt. E-5 and having my own room in the NCO barracks and almost getting caught dressed when I overslept one Sunday Morning.

Dressed many, many times in my car or in the woods in remote locations miles from Ft. Riley, gas was only 24 or 25 cents a gallon on post. Hid the clothes in several bags that were placed behind the rear seat and the trunk panel and prayed that my car wouldn't get searched on base.

Back then in Kansas you could drive all day and not see another person on the back farm roads, yet there were corn or wheat fields on each side of the road.

Located several old deserted farm houses way back from the road, that I used too. It was so quiet out there that you could hear if any cars were coming down the road.

Just before I was discharged I did a partial purge and put most of the clothes in a bag and pushed it up into a hollow tree near one of the old farmhouses.

I guess someone was scratching their head if they found them.
