Does anyone ever get any flak when they get carded at bars and clubs while all dolled up? Are gay bars and clubs more accomodating?

At my age they just want to see if you get the senior discount. The last time I was carded, I told clerk "thanks sonny".

The only time I was ever carded I was 21 in a club wearing jungle fatigues and the drinking age was only 18. I looked at the other door person and asked "I need to show an ID". He just waived me by. Like Mickey I only need it now to get the senior discount.

I have CD friends that fly on airplanes with a male id and present as female! Yes I know this because I have personally flown with them!

Are you possibly going to get some comment from this? Well let me present a little excersize for you. I hate white people, and black people (I have to guess you are one of them). What ya going to do about it???????

Really what are you going to do about the fact that I hate white and black people???? let me take a guess. Your going to say "oh well" or "screw you".

Ok so now a new scenerio. I hate CDs. What are you going to do about it?

DO YOU GET THE POINT OF THIS LITTLE EXCERSIZE.

For the record I do not hate white and black people or anyone for that matter! This was an excersize.

Veronica, the flack you speak of is that your face does not match your ID card...so a couple extra questions may come up.

I attend Rennaissance support groups, and I had an ID card made with niki's picture on the front but with Vince's information...it also states that i am transgendered etc. [ if you need the verbage i will get it to you.]

but i hand it to the police with my license and other than a second glance... i have done fine.

You might want to look into something like that...i am way too old to be carded anymore... but i have been stopped by the police while driving.

Hope that helps

hugs

I just don't wanna be refused service because my outward appearance contradicts my required identification document(id).

Very unlikely but then if you act out of place and lacking in confidence then you will probably get some crap. Its like the wild kingdom. The lions like to wait for the weak and then eat it. If your weak it shows and you will get eaten sis.

I get carded in the casinos and bars sometimes, or at the door while trying to get into some of the clubs. Oh and at the market if I try and buy liquor LOL My ID matches me though.

I haven't been carded, but if I were, I doubt that there would be much problem. In most parts of Seattle, I would think that you would not have any hassle at all (unless you're in the Rainier district or down on First Ave. and a few other places, but downtown, on Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, even Ballard, I think that you wouldn't even get a blink in many places).

You're worrying over nothing. I have said this so many times I should make an app to spit it out when ever I want.

Here goes:

NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU WEAR.

You are just not that important. Get over yourself. If you have a valid ID, no one cares what you have on. You can go to bars, fly on airplanes, get a passport, drive a car, buy an new bra with your credit card, or anything else that requires an ID.

I know it's tempting to think that the world will stop spinning if anyone finds out you wear a dress now and then, but it just ain't true.

The bar wants to know that you are of age. I know you are, but to keep from getting into trouble, the bar may have a rule that EVERYONE gets carded.

Relax, dear. Go have fun.

Stephie.

Never been an issue. Most clubs in NYC are only concerned that you have id should the police stop in to check. Only seen them enter a bar on a handful of occasions. Even then the police never checked. It was usually over capacity safety reasons that brought them in.

Never been carded at any bar or nightclub, all the way from age 14 to 40.

I've had to show my driver's license to a cop at a random breath test on the way home from dinner out en femme, and the cop did everything strictly by the book and didn't say a word about my appearance versus my male license. Another cop from the same state has previously stated that behaving the wrong way towards a TG person could cost them their job and, no matter what their opinion, they aren't going to do anything that could jeopardise their job.

That's almost completely true, but not 100% true.

I got asked to leave a bar in Toronto because I was cross-dressed. The doorman had no problem letting me in, the waitress had no problem taking my order, I was sitting quietly, but the manager on duty came over and asked me to leave. Said if it was up to him he wouldn't have any problem with me staying, but the bar had a dress code policy and he could be fired for letting me stay. Something about the previous management had had some problems with some cross-dressers and that although there were new owners now, they hadn't reviewed that policy.

Odd thing is I'd been to the same bar a few times before cross-dressed with no problems at all.

So I walked down the street another five or ten blocks, found another bar, and had an enjoyable time there, with the staff making sure to let me know that I was welcome back dressed any time.

Oh yes, and one consignment store in the city I live, the owner pointedly asked that I not come in during regular hours and instead make after-hours appointments -- she was afraid I would scare off the female customers.

At one of the high end bra stores in the city I live in, when it is busy, one of the three co-owners asks me to come back another time if I want to try something on (but browsing is okay); the other two co-owners are fine with having me try things at any time.

But there are many stores where I am welcomed unconditionally -- and a number of stores where the SA's prefer to deal with me than random female customers -- because they know that I am patient and polite.

You are always gonna run into jerks and idiots in this world. That's just a fact of life. Live with it. The above instances are so rare as to be almost unbelievable. Oh, don't get me wrong dear, I believe they happened to you. But to live your life in the expectation that the worst will happen is to live a VERY sheltered and boring life. Of course the world MIGHT stop spinning if someone discovers your secret, but so far it hasn't. I prefer to have the BEST expectations and deal with the disappointments as they come.

Just at a gas station in town (Town Ord.) and at certain clubs in Chicago because its required to when purchasing liquor at all age shows and never once been hassled or treated badly in anyway. Just the occasional double take and a smile or you had me fooled.
The "The Office Nite CLub" where I hang out in Rockford IL. is a very friendly GLBT club.
