Today, I finaly did it, I came out at work. I have only spoken to my supervisor sofar, and he is going to arrange a meeting with the factory manager, hopefully next week. This is the final obstacle to me going full time and starting my RLE, which I am planning to start in April. :)
I will post an update after the meeting to let you all know how it goes.

The real treat is if you start a job or transfer to a different location. It ranks up there close to the name change. The point is to go someplace where the people never knew the boy.
If you cant then that is life but it is a hinderance.

Congratulations Carole, it is a truly liberating experience even just to speak to your supervisor. I did that a few weeks ago and have since been waiting for a meeting with my manager, but in between I have been able to express myself more freely.
This is the final obstacle to me going full time and starting my RLE, which I am planning to start in April. :)
You're way ahead of me there and I envy you for it, but that won't stop me wishing you all the best for April. :bighug:
I will post an update after the meeting to let you all know how it goes.
Please do. I will be thinking of you. Do you know which day next week, or else can you let us know when you do?

I spoke to the factory manager yesterday and he said he will arrange a meeting with the HR. He has knowledge of dealing with a transitioning employee in his previous job so he knows what to do. :)

Good new Carole. Try to get as much information as you can about your company's policies regarding this matter.
If you are not happy with anything that arises out of your meeting, don't let the meeting continue till you are happy, even if it means that you have to postpone the meeting.
Finally, if you are in a union, speak to your local office for any advice they can offer you.
Good Luck :hugs:

Congratulations Carole
That's good news that he's had experience with someone transitioning (hopefully it was a good experience).
Best of everything to you.

I spoke with the factory manager again today to set a preliminary sate for me going full time at work. As stated before he has previuos experience of employees transitioning at work, twice in fact so he has spoken to HR and made most of the arrangements. All I have to do is to book some time off and give them details of my name change.
What they have arranged is that while I am off work they will oather all the other employees together and explain that I am returning to work as Carole
and why I am transitioning.
I have decided to have a two week break from Monday 12th April to Fiday 23rd April, returning to work on Moday 26th, as Carole, which will be the day I start my RLE. :D

That's great news. I'm really glad that it is going so well for you! :hugs: What a bonus to find a manager who understands all about it. The weeks will soon pass by then you can truly be yourself at work as well as at home.

Carole,
Kudos to you for being so brave and confident.
You may encounter some resistance as your co-workers, if they were not already aware , adjust to the change in your appearance. This is normal.
It doesn't become a problem so long as you don't allow it to be.
Keep your head held high and exhume an air of confidence that others can see and you should be alright.
Be safe. Be smart. (You go , Girl!!)

Takes a lot of courage, but I imagine that you're also feeling relief to be able to live more openly. Congratulations!

Wonderful news Carole. When I transitioned at work I was pleasantly surprised by the acceptance and support I received; I hope you get the same.
Congratulations and best wishes

That's great Carole.
You are a little ahead of me. I am friends with one of the women and work and at the moment, I am comtemplating coming out to her, as a prelude to making it official.
Anyway, that's great news for you.
well done again.

As some of you may know, I started work as Nigella, but even now after almost 3 years, I still need to remind people to refer to me in female nouns and pronouns.
They are not being funny, just dealing with what they have been conditioned to deal with.

Nigella,
Being referred to in female nouns & pronouns is not the measure of who we are. We are all rocks that wish to be trees. Even though now we may have been skillfully chiseled by the hands of the sculptor to resemble a tree it is not the fault of the viewer if they still see a rock, no matter how detailed and beautiful the sculpture may be.
Some people just don't appreciate good art work.:D
I have been asked many time over the years what I prefer to be called. I tell them. "It doesn't matter. Call me what you like. I've heard it all. I know who I am. "
Be safe. Be smart.

Congratulations Carole! I imagine you're absolutely elated right now, is nice to see he's done this before and is taking care of some of the things himself. That's really cool of him!
