I don't know what I am. I've wanted to dress since I was 4 and I started dressing at 11 but have never dressed fully. Just little bits here and there. It's a sexual turn-on for me. However, I think about starting hormones and having SRS every day.

Please (or try to) identify who/what I am.

You are a person. Any other diagnosis on this forum is totally absurd. Only you and a professional therapist have the ability to work that one out.

Well, you probably shouldn't have SRS if it's just a sexual turnon. However over time the sexual part can fade an deeper feelings can be found.
You really should take some time to explore your feelings.

Stacey and Kate hit the nail right on the head - the decisions that lead to hormones or SRS are only ones you can reach through years of work and appropriate therapy. That's totally outside the scope of this site. I

If you enjoy dressing - that's fine - for whatever reason. Just don't get ahead of yourself or jump to conclusions.

Personally (and I can't speak for anyone else here), I know I'm not transsexual, even though there are times I would like to actually be a woman (and dressing always makes me feel better). However I also know I am a husband and father and those will not change.

I don't know what I am, and I suspect never really will, except that I know I'm me :) The transgender area is very diverse.

One thing someone else said... imagine if you DID go through with SRS, and it wasn't right for you. What kind of psychological trauma that could cause is immeasurable.

As you are only 20, you may not yet be ready to transition. I think you should see a therapist before making any decisions as you are the only person who truly knows how you feel.

Well, I am in counseling right now for depression. She's just a general counselor I think. Is that a good start or...?

Have you talked to her about your crossdressing? If so, yes, that's a good start. However, you may eventually want to see someone who specializes in gender issues--especially if you start down the path to transition.

Yes, it's a very good start.
I believe that any competent counselor can help not just a gender specialist.
Don't worry about attaching labels to yourself just be open in counseling and see where it goes.

Stacey Jane is so right. A competent counselor can help you deal with understanding and accepting yourself. I have been through treatment for depression, and inevitably, I had to acknowledge that I enjoyed wearing women's clothes. My therapist was very understanding, positive and accepting and ultimately helped me understand myself and learn to think positively about myself. I hope that you're able to do the same.

I did tell her awhile back about my crossdressing and I believe that I told her that I WASN'T SURE IF I WANTED TO BE A WOMAN or I DIDN'T WANT TO BE ONE EITHER RIGHT NOW OR LATER. Usually I have a very good memory so yeah...

Try not to think about hormones or SRS, it might make it easier to figure things out.
