My second full talk since transitioning...(have given 2 scientific talks too)...

My first was how difficult this can be, but this one was much more upbeat and how wonderful to be yourself...

Questions went over...I think I am going to just put a chair front center and answer questions the entire hour for the next one...lol

Here is the email sent out to the MedCenter...

Please join
American Medical Women's Association &
Students Educating and Advocating for Diversity

Time: 12-1pm
Chinese will be served for the first 30-40!

And here is an email that I received from the Senior Director (Psychologist) of Counseling Support Services...made me feel so good...:)

Julie,

You did wonderfully!

Please know that it's a honor for me to support you. You are a courageous and generous woman. I appreciate the deliberate approach you've taken with your life. I'm grateful that you are willing to share yourself and your journey to open minds / hearts with students, staff, & faculty at XXXX....

Thanks everyone...I knew from the start with all the people I come into contact with, conferences I must attend, and scientific talks I have to give...that I would be dealing with a very public transition...

And I get scared sometimes...and sometimes overwhelmed...

But I do my best because I have so many opportunities to further understanding in society and help us all...

Julie, the Directors email couldn't be more spot on. You are one of the most brave and courageous women that I have the pleasure of knowing. I could not think of a better spokeswoman for our community. You should never feel scared and overwhelmed at this point because from where we are sitting it looks like you have full command of the situation.

His words about your deliberate approach to life really resonated with me. Life would be so much better in so many ways if more people own up to the gifts they have been given and approach them as you have rather than let society dictate who they must be. :hugs:
