Mine was only a few months ago. It was the scariest and most exciting thing I ever did. I wish I had someone to go with for support. I went to Walmart, Target and a Mall to a payless, and then for carryout food. I had not problems, It was a Friday night, and walking through the mall alone was terrifying with a lot of teenagers around. I went through the mall to a payless, there was a family with small children in the Isle I needed, I didn't want any problems so I exited quickly, went to the nearest exit, walked outside to my car, and took the deepest breath of my life.
I cant wait to do it again!

Mine was about a month ago, in broad daylight. Had the SO by my side, we took a stroll around a square close to home. At first the place was empty, but then a ton of people started arriving. I started to freak out a bit, but in the end nobody took a second look at me, it was just two girls walking around the square. Lotsa fun!
Good luck and enjoy!!

It isn't nearly as frightening as it now looks to you, Missy - provided that you accept the fact that you will be read by some or more of the people (depending upon your passability), and realize that being read by such strangers is of no consequence. Before I shaved my moustache and went out totally done up as I appear in my photo here, I decided to give myself a "baptism of fire" by stepping out of my car at a busy gas station fully dressed in skirt, blouse, hose and heels (without wig or makeup and with moustache) and topping off the tank. It was a major rush at first, but I was surprised to find that nobody around me even seemed to notice or gave me a second glance. When I finally shaved everything clean and made my first public outing, I was not fearful or nervous in the least - just mildly curious about how many would read me and whether any would even show a reaction. The most reaction to my visual appearance I have seen to date has been some long stares from a couple of NC rednecks; as I was in a rather sexy dress and shoes I do not know whether they were reading me, admiring me, or just trying to figure out which sex I was. I would venture to say that almost all of those who do read you will show no reaction whatsoever. When I conduct business at restaurants and stores, I just speak softly in my own voice (as I do not yet have a femme voice), and so far have seen no reaction to me beyond a knowing smile. Now naturally, I am too fussy about my femme appearance to want to go out dressed up while moustached, but I do cruise around and go to drive-up ATMs in that mode. It is most important while out to maintain a calm, devil-may-care attitude, an erect posture, and feminine body language. Just smile, hold your head up, and at first avoid lengthy eye contact with others, and you will gain confidence as your time out increases. If you are not very passable en femme and you do see the occasional reaction, just rationalize by realizing that those folks are just strangers, so who could care less what they think ? You really do have "nothing to fear but fear itself". Above all, be attentive and street-smart at all times !

Where are you going? Lips? Not that I am suggesting it, just that you mentioned the village. I am out in NYC most weekends. It might be nice meet up to say hi if you want.

My first time out was spent mostly in a car at night. I did walk through the Boston commons for about 1 1//2 hrs. The thrill was still there.

lets see my first time out was about 6 years ago,and i went through the drive through,i went and got gas, then i went and walked around k mart.ialso tried on shoes that day at k mart then walked into a ross store, and tried on shoes but couldent work up the nerve to actually make a purchase.that would be too much contact for a first timer.but i dont remember being read by anyone, and i looked to see what peoples reaction to me was.people usually dont see what they are not looking for.but wow what an incredable rush the day was.

I first went out 7 years ago, learnt that you must be dressed for the occasion, don't over do it, and make shore you go accompanied with someone. Its safer in a crowd even if its only two of you, also you don't stick out of the crowd with a partner.:battingeyelashes:
