Well, even though I'm not exactly a regular boardmember, I thought I'd add an update on my own transition.

I am in my 3rd month of living full time. So far I have not received any negative comments or feedback from my family, friends or co-workers. In fact, most of the people who were close to me before have continued to be extremely supportive of the new me.

I still get the occasionally "he" or "Jeff" reference, especially over the phone at work. But I deal with it, as I know it's only a little slip on their part and not intentional. My mom has already begun referring to me as her daughter.

My relationship with my wife is flourishing better than I had hoped. She is my biggest supporter and defender. She calls me her wife and is already comfortable enough with my transition for us to start investigating HRT. She is surprised with how well she is dealing with this change. For her, it makes things so much easier when she sees how relaxed and content I have been these past few months.

So the search begins for an Endocrinologist. The specialists in my city are not taking any new patients and I've already been turned down by two other Endo's in other nearby cities. My family doctor has been making the inquiries and he says that there are two other possible options, but those doctors are several hours away. We are waiting to see if they will agree to see me.

Other than that, life has been great. I'm so happy to have begun my transition and live every minute as my true self (so cliche, I know).

Here are couple of things I've noticed over these past 3 months:

- I really need to improve my morning routine. Getting ready in the morning is taking way longer than I expected.

- High-heel boots are surprisingly comfortable to work in, if you work at a desk all day.

- I should have started electrolysis years ago

- If you are good at something, it doesn't really matter what you look like. ( I was invited to play in a hockey tournament because the team really needed a player who could pass the puck as well as I do. I am the only girl on the team, and I only know one of the guys.)

:yippee:

All the data that ANY doctor would ever need to perscribe hormones and monitor your health is pudlished right here in the internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said any doctor. The specific needs that you require are minor. The data you can access is written by doctors that have transgender competence. You can print it off and EDUCATE any doctor and then get the hormones perscribed to you.

This is a really easy process but it does take some out of the box thinking.

It is hard for me to visualize RLT without hormones so kudoes to ya for doing it this far without them.

Thank you Sharon, Tomara, Kate, Kaitlyn and Eileen. I really appreciate the comments. I don't have any friends in my life that are trans, so it's nice to hear from others who can understand what I am going through.

Kate - I know what you mean about how easily accessible the hormone information is on the internet. I probably could talk to my family doctor and convince him to start prescribing me what I need. However, I would just feel better if I could deal with specialist, especially one who has experience with transgender patients. Luckily, I was finally accepted by an Endo who has worked with many trans patients. My appointment is booked for September, and I'm so looking forward to getting things rolling.

My hockey tournament went fine, though I wasn't officially introduced to the whole team. But everybody treated me well and I felt that I performed well on the ice. I spent the weekend being called both Jenn and 'he' by the guys on the team, so it was a bit of a mixed bag. I have been invited to play in a summer ice hockey league and I will make it a point to make sure they know that I prefer "she/her" if I'm going to play all summer with these guys.

I started electrolysis again with a different business than the one I used before. She estimates that it will probably take about 3 years to get my entire face done, so the more often I go, the better. She's giving me a bit of a break on the price, so that helps.

Anyways, thanks again for caring enough to comment. Even though things are going well for me, I sometimes miss the feeling of community that I used to get from the boards. A big reason I am where I am today, is because of all the advice, comments and posts that I've read on this board.
