I posted a thread not so long ago, about a sudden sexual attraction towards people in crossdressing form (male to female).
Though I've never actually met a crossdresser in the flesh and I've seen pics online, plus now I've found out that I'm quite aroused by transexuals too, again never met in person and only online pics.
What is sexual orientation and what is sexual desire?
Are the two the same or are they different which seem to conflict with each other?

OK, just for fun, I will take a shot at this one…
Sexual Orientation is which sex you find erotically attractive: opposite (hetero), same (homo), or both (bi).
Sexual Identity is how you see yourself physically: male, female, or in between.rn female, but wishes to see their body as male in all respects, their sexual identity is male.
Sexual Desire is the libido, lust, passion, sex drive, sex “instinct” etc. which propels you in the direction of your sexual interest.
Gender Identity is how you see yourself socially: man, woman, or a combination of both.
Alright then, to continue…
True Identity is what Clark Kent concealed (Superman) from the incredibly naïve citizens of Metropolis.
False Identity is the role about 95% of the people on the internet assume try to make everyone else on the net believe is their Real Identity, which in Reality is generally some form of convoluted “Internet Identity”, concocted from confabulation and magical thinking applied to distort Real Identity into the Disneyland Identity that allows them admission to the amusement park world of Internet discourse.
Real Identity is an antiquated term that originally referred to the documented personal data that confirms a person is actually the person they represent. It is now just a reference to the documentation stolen from a person by another person, who uses it to impersonate the victim, or create an entirely new Fictitious Identity in the Real World (whatever that is…)
There, pretty simple, eh?? :D:D:D

...if you seek definitions to these terms, why not simply conduct a bit of research?
Surely the answers you seek can be found there can they not?

Hello, Petit Tonya:
OK well, in my opinion, sexual orientation is a perception of to member of what sex you are attracted most. As for me, I consider myself to be a transgendered person and being mostly on female's side, but not quite sure yet, to members of which sex I have affinity to.

WOW Really loved the way the definitions in the second group would just lead from one to another. Very, very well done. I wish I would have said that!

This.
I'm a heterosexual male, I've been attracted to transsexuals for quite some time and I do find some of the ladies on these forums attractive. If that means I fall into a different category other then "heterosexual male" I don't really care, I know what I find attractive and that's all that matters to me...

 on that one, ChloeR!
Regarding "categories"...
I have a solid educational background in psychology. The one thing that always bothered me, was the psychological communities’ obsession with trying to fit everything into a "category", sometimes to the point where it seemed to be the only objective.
Categories do serve a purpose(s). It’s just another tool used to study, clarify and compare/contrast shared traits in various groups, hopefully to better understand the human experience.
But just as most things in life, when categories are taken too “seriously” and their significance overrated, they seem to take on a “life of their own”.
When we find ourselves wrestling with the unavoidable cognitive curve balls of life that sometimes leave us questioning our sanity, we frequently turn to self-help resources. Many of those contain “categories” that list shared traits/behaviors that are typically exhibited by individuals defined by the Label applied to that particular category. Simply stated…”if you have these traits/behaviors, then you are a ______.”
While this may help some people, it has the potential to propel a confused and unstable person deeper into a hole they wish to dig out of. It can initiate a host of negative thinking processes. We can choose to believe we fit into a category and become depressed, more confused, embarrassed, hopeless, try to deny it, try to disprove it, avoid it, adopt it, find ways we don’t fit, or justify it, or many other non-productive reactions. Most of these options involve redirecting our energy away from resolving the primary issue to another “problem”…acknowledging or denying the “label” really applies to us.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to perspective. Not everything you read is “true”. What I believe IS true is that I am always moving in the direction of the thoughts I choose to keep in my head. (I “am” what I think).
“Whether I believe I can or cannot do something…or whether I believe I am or am not a particular type of person, I will always be right”. (Think about it, it makes sense).
Unless I am a patient in a mental institution, I will always be the only person who can accurately define who or what I am. That will always be determined by what I choose to believe is true.
“I am what I am, and that’s all that I am, because I’m Popeye the sailor man”.---Popeye
but, that’s just me. I never claimed to be mentally stable…:battingeyelashes:
