Try an old suitcase, most of the time nobody will touch it if it is the
back of a closet. Good Luck Rader :)

Put some cobwebs on the box, that usually keeps most people out :D
I use the old box of my TV, locked away in a storage room with couple of other boxes on top of it.

It was suggested to me by another sister here that if you have your own vehicle, to put them in the trunk of your car. How many people actually go in there besides you? I keep mine in a bag, folded as nicely as possible between my stereo and the back seat. :heehee:

Used to have them in the crawl space in the basement. Thank goodness those days are over, it was such a hassle "crawling" in there to get em! :heehee:

I used to have mine anywhere that seemed very sercet. I have no idea how good of a place it was, but it basically ruined the clothes because I would squeeze it into such tiny places. Now I have kind of just given up with the hiding thing and let it take over my drawers. I guess you never know how nosey people would be..

I would be too paranoid about leaving it in my car, there are the odd times when you are with someone else who might want to put something in it etc which would lead to trouble..

Hence why it's between the stereo and back seat, nobody is going to want to move that!

I still live at home (but moving out next month! YAY!). I have a few things, but have to hide things in more than one spot because I have too much to hide all in one spot.

Makeup - I hide in a fishing tackle box at the top of my closet.

Bra's and panties - I have a hamper full of old stuffed animals in my closet. I keep them mixed in with those. I've told my parents that I'd like to keep those for sentimental reasons to make sure they stay there.

Jeans - I keep these in my dresser. Since they're practically the color of normal jeans, if anyone goes through my dresser for any reason, they probably won't realize they're not my drab jeans.

Skirts and tops - I keep these in dress shirts in the back of my closet. They're the ugliest dress shirts I own, nobody would even pull them out for any reason because they're so ugly. They're probably not as ugly as I think they are, but hey, that's just me.

Dresses - I keep them in my high school and college cap and gowns. That's a perfect reason for me, because when I graduated, I was very envious of all the dresses the girls were wearing lol

Accessories (sun glasses, hair ties, etc...) - I keep those in my shoeboxes of old magic: the gathering cards.

Hope this helps at all! I've never been caught, but my brother knows all about me, so I don't really hide anything from him.

Back in my early years when I first started dressing I would keep my stuff (what few things I had) hidden in our spare couch... Literally, it had a hole in the lining that wasn't really visible. So I would have it stuffed full of clothes. I remember storing my smaller undergarments above the drop ceiling in bags. Once I moved out into the world I did so with roomates. But then I'd hide my things in a rubbermaid container buried deep in my closet. Not unlike my dressing itself....lol

If your dresser goes to the floor you can pull out the bottom drawer and put a couple of items under the drawer and put the drawer back

I have to second the advice of Aggi. The nicer stuff that you want to hang, put it inside other clothes clear in the back. I'd put all my nighties on 2 or 3 hangers then put them together and put a bath robe over the whole works.
Find the hangers with the notches in them for shoulder straps and some even have loops for hangings skirts. All my other lingerie i would just put in boxes and cover with other stuff. mj (Cassie)

My teen years were a little like Stalag 17, with surprise inspections from Mom. I had to be creative. The suspended ceiling worked for a while. The one she never found was inside my speakers.

I think I'm confused :o, what is that?

It's ok, I actually have some subwoofers, and an amp attached to the sub box, which weighs easily over 150lbs. Not too many people are going to move it just to move it.

Living in a dorm is tough to do this but I slide them under the sheet of my mattress so that most of the time it lies flat to it (the underwear that is) as for my jeans I leave them mixed in with my other jeans (cause they look like mens). Lastly I use a box atop my closet (it has a shelf) for my shirts and stuff so that it just looks like storage!
best of luck!

When my parents moved from their retirement community in the sunny southwest back to Chicago, we shipped several boxes of clothes and other stuff back here. We still have one or two boxes in our basement.

I made "duplicate" shipping and address labels and stuck them on more boxes. I even taped them the same and then cut them open. My clothes are folded inside trash bags inside the boxes. My makeup is in a locked toolbox.

i ve hidden clothing in speakers, cardboard box,s, a tool, box, with a lock on , and now i i have so much clothing i just keep it in 2 sports bags in the garage cupboard , and i have a little bag with some lingeri nylons and some clothing inside the house , in case i have the urge but dont want to have to go to the garage ,i also had a period wher i had clothong in my trunk of the car , so i would guess i have tried most places , the next place i intend to use is my cupboard as i fee its time to stop hideing soon

my advice is be creative, and i find by spreading it up you dont have to stuff it into small bags/places so the clothing does not get ruined or creased , just remeber where it all is as that could also be a problem

The hiding things while at home stage is fun. We had a drop tile ceiling where i would hide my stuff at,wonder how much of it is still up there at that old place :daydreaming: basicly the attic is a great place as long as it's not a "common area" of the house and easily accesable to the rest of the family. never thought about the speakerbox thats great! if i ever have kids and the act supiusis thats where im heading to

When I only had a little, I kept a 2 drawer file cabinet and kept it locked. I wanted my files secure. This gave me about a drawer and a half of storage.

When I lived at home (and still had a way smaller TV :heehee:) I had a big closet for some personal stuff. I had made this whole closet so messy that my parents wouldn't even come near it anymore, when you opened it about everything fell out. Unless you knew exactly which piece to brace when opening it. Chaos is perfect for hiding things! :D

God.I remember these hassles,I used to cram mine into garbage bags, and hide them in Garden shed, was always first to offer to mow the lawn:D.My friend hires a lock-up garage, and stows them there, only taking out what she needs.Perhaps you could try that if such a thing exists over your way

I have some garment bags. They hold about 4 dresses each--and the have a big zipper down the front. Of course, my wife caught on after a while, but she doesn't say much--only that I should limit myself to 6 dresses. I also have a couple gym bags that fit behind the seat of my pickup. Hanging sport coat over a dress in the far back corner of your closet works pretty well.

I currently have it right in the open, the closet in my room has only girl clothes in it, most of the dresser. However, when I did hide things, I had them under the mattress, in a duffel bag, or even in the heating duct with some small things I was sure wouldn't get lost.

wondering if where u girls hide ur stuff if u do

Yes, I hide things, but I put everything in its place, since I'm somewhat fastidious. I hide my femme things in plain sight, even if nobody is going to enter my space. I have a closet full of clothes, plus boxes of other things nearby, a dresser with all of my unmentionables, and a bathroom with all of my makeup and hair stuff. Everything is just out of view, but a brief exploration will reveal all in short order…

The trick to finding a really effective place to stash your stuff is to identify the places that most people are not aware exist. My personal favorite happens to be the space between the floor and the bottom drawer in a dresser or desk. Pull out the bottom drawer and drop your stuff inside, put the drawer back, and bingo - it's gone.

But there are all sorts of places that most folks don't think exist. Drop ceilings are another relatively obvious example. Others might depend on how much work you want to do, and how skilled you are at doing that work.

As a general rule, women do not like attics and crawlspaces. But they will go looking in basements and garages. I you put clothes in a plastic bag in the attic, especially if the only access is a ceiling hole, you are almost guaranteed it is safe. But it is a pain to retrieve it quickly all the time. If you use garage or basement, set a can of insect killer beside or close to the storage container. It usually scares off most curious females. Another trick is to make sure the place you choose to store the "suitcase, etc. is dark. (no lights on in attic, no lights close to see in dark area, so they avoid going to that area.

FYI, humans have a natural tendency to hide things at eye level and in the direction of their dominate hand (right-handed...off center to the right...etc.).

Years ago, when I was married, I kept a box of stuff up in the rafters of the garage. One day I went to get my stuff, and some f***ing mice had built a nest right in the middle of my stuff and chewed much of it up for nest material.

As I have stated, I am closetted and will always be. I am building a utility building in my back yard to move some of my power tools out of the garage. I am building a false wall on one side with a hidden latch. Just so you don't think I am crazy or extreme here, I visited the house of 7 gables 20 years ago and I have been fasinated ever since by the hidden room they used in the event of hostiles. (I also like McGiver LOL!)

when you go to "outside" storage, bugs and animals join the list of pests you are trying to keep from discovering your things, lol. Wasps and hornets are notorious for moving into those secret places. At a minimum, I would have everything in totally sealed plastic bags. I would also keep in mind that any scent of perfume, make-up etc will attract them, as well as four legged creatures of the night.

It is not a deal-killer, but definately requires some additional strategy for those pests who do not "talk".

good luck

I used to keep clothes in a bag under my bed, at other times I kept them under my drawer where you can pull the bottom draw out and place them underneath. At one point they were in my gym bag which is not the best place as they got found. Now that my SO is accepting and stays over a lot I tend to keep my nightie under my pillow and if anyone asks its hers. Then the rest of my stuff is in a big bag in my wardrobe which is known as her emergency bag.

As one person suggested my work desk here in my office the last drawer on the floor, I can pull out that drawer so there is a great deal empty space of about 3" of room deep, 15" wide and 22 inches deep. That is where I keep 3 pair of shoes, panty hose and some bras. Then I have all these magazines subscriptions for past umpteen years that that there is like 4" of space in each one. So the top row I have all my dresses in there, Then also in my closet there is my office filing cabinet and in the back behind all the files I can store my so called made breasts a few bras and my makeup. Last place is the closet in garage in my golf bag. I can store mini skirts and tops and a pair of shoes. So I also have a hidden space that was an old radiator area and I have 2 huge plastic bins I can push up in the wall and that holds many dresses, bras and more shoes and boots.Oh yea my last place I have is a business suitcase that is in my office that has my wigs, my nicer bras, corset and stockings. So lots of places to hide items. I may take al the items in the magazines subscription boxes and put them in my closet with my suits. My wife never goes in my closet.

I still live with my parents (unfortunately), but my room is upstairs, and neither of my parents go up there except maybe once a year. Sometimes I just leave some of my stuff out on my bed, or on the side of the bed that they wouldn't be able to see from the bedroom door.

But the bulk of the stuff is kept in a large box in the bottom of my closet. It was the box my computer case came in a couple years ago. So, they hardly ever come upstairs, they go to my room even more rarely, and they have business with my closet even more rarely than that. :P

I've hid them under drawers, in dropped ceilings, in my travel trailer, in the bottoms of boxes that had other stuff on top, suitcases etc. Then I got really creative. When I was finishing the basement and framing around the main heating ducts, I extended the framework about 8 feet past where the duct work ended thus creating an empty space about 8 ft long by 4 ft wide and about 16 inches deep if you took into account the depth of the floor joists. It was perfect and never discovered. These days I no longer hide anything - but I don't leave it all lying around so that it is always in my wife's face either.

I've loved reading this thread it's really me have a laugh!
Over the years i've probably used most of the ideas mentioned above,
I always found the attic to be fairly safe most people I've lived with scared
of spiders and would not go up there!
I've lived alone now for 10 years+ and my things are openly about my bedroom
reading this has brought back memories and reminded me of the blind panic I use to feel when someone was near to one of my stashes L.O.L !!!

I used to have my clothes in a couple of suitcases in the car. Once, when I went through a security check, they searched my car and opened my bag. One of the guards was a woman, she looked at my corset and boots and assortment of leather skirts and said -- "boy you must have some fun!". I was mortified but then she said -- "hope you have a great day" - and winked. I went on with my meeting and never saw her again. Now, the clothes are in a crawl space in the attic.
Hugs,
Connie

I used to hide mine in all sorts of places. Under the floor, Bottom of the wardrobe, sports bag, in the shed, in the garage, in the loft, in the void under the bottom drawer in a cabinet was one of the best but all of them... No matter what, sooner or later someone says.... I want to move the furniture, tidy the shed, find somethng in the garage or call a plumber in.

It was a nightmare, it;s one of the reasons I'm honest with my partner, and told her about my clothes from day one... I hated hiding things and living in fear of being outed by accident.

being out to the wife makes life easy. But the hiding before was a pain.
In the box spring is easy and convenient. Flip it over and find the spaces to cut open to reach easy when flipped back.
I have been found out in most other spots, but not in the box spring.

This post sent me on a trip down memory lane big time!! lol

I've hidden stuff in my car, under the bed, behind drawers, you name it! Truth be told, I didn't have a lot to hide back then, so it wasn't that difficult. Can't imagine trying to hide dresses without wrinkling them though.

Good luck!

I moved my stash around from time to time over the years. But, last May, my wife and I finally had a talk about me. That was a little tense. But, I now have two foundation drawers for bras and panties, and nylons, and a wide drawer for folded clothes. I can put anything in the attic. No one wants to go there. :D

My walk-in closet is that my dresses/skirts share space with my suits & dress shirts & ties .
Anyone amongst family & friends wants to ask what's the deal with that?....they can. I have nothing to lose by telling the truth.

I keep underwear, tops, bottoms & intimates in a separate bureau in a separate bedroom, and my paraphernalia (breast forms, hip padding) and makeup books in a steamer trunk just for the sake of keeping track of it. I am proud to be an eccentric....so shall I be.

In my basement there is a small area under the stairs just off of the utility room. My wife would rather be caught dead then go into the utility room let alone squeeze into the back and peer under the stairs. That is where I have decided to hide my goods. I may at some point put in a small false wall to cover the last few feet for some extra security.

The internal access to my roof is in my walk-in-robe, so I hid most of my gear in the ceiling and that was never detected. The only problem was hiding it whenever we had maintenance men who needed access to the roof to check the air-conditioning or to do a pest inspection. I did toy with leaving there, wondering what they would think about a stash of shoes, lingerie and skirts in a roof. Perhaps they see it all the time :-)

I also used to conceal the odd pair of pantyhose in jacket pockets, keep my LBD in one of my suit bags or just mingle it between other clothes.

It is kind of funny, but I just have everything in two large garbage bags (and one small box) on my closet floor. It is in plain view, but no one has looked in them. They look like they belong.

I used to go all out, trying to find the craziest places to hide stuff, but I always feared that in the event they were found, someone would look inside. It is kind of hard not to when you randomly find a box hidden above the ceiling tiles. Being in plain view, no one really questions it.

Thank goodness I live alone now and can pretty much keep what I want where I want it. I one of the guys comes over and sees something I may have left by accident, its pretty easy to explain away. Pretty much every time I have purged has been due to a girlfriend moving in. Maybe next time it will be a term of the relationship, accept it or not. Anyhow i have a closet in my bedroom for the Girl stuff and a closet in the front room for my guy clothes. Since I have a bad habit of falling asleep on the sofa, I hardly ever see the bedroom. If someone really wants to go sneaking through my bedroom, they will never be invited back.

Depending on your living arrangements and handywoman abilities, it is not difficult to install "false walls". I have installed a few in every house I have lived in.

The easiest form is to do the short sidewalls of a standard room closet. You simply create a space out from the side wall with wood blocks, then install a piece of drywall from floor to ceiling on the front, painted same color as walls. Mounting the drywall to a thin waferboard (pegboard) keeps things tidy and sturdy.

If you try this anywhere, always do both sides of the closet. And make sure they are the same depth from each wall. This is critical to concealing it, due to normal human depth/visual issues.

Another general tip on hiding things. Anything that has a noticable odor (makeup etc.) should always be placed in sealed plastic bags. To avoid most problems, everything you are hiding should be in a sealable plastic bag. Be sure to squeeze the air out of each bag prior to sealing it.

Hmm i thought about this problem very often and finally i've decided the best place to hide them would be in drawers under my bed hidden under piles of other clothes. I know it's not safe but well i have no other place to hide them and noone has to look in those drawers.

I have colleected an extensive collection over the years. I eventually rented a small locker at a self storage site just around the corner from where I live. I have paid in advance so no bills come to my home and it only takes 5 minutes door to door when I feel like dressing.....

I usually don't have to hide my stuff, the exception being when people stay over. Vaccum storage bags are the answer.

If you have bright colour stuff just wrap them in a sheet etc. You would need to open and inflate and unpack the bag to see whats in it.

I have tried most of the ideas previously noted. However, as my wardrrobe increased in size and my kids got older (more curious) it became more difficult to keep things on the low down. Several months ago I rented a self-storage locker 5 minutes from my home, and this has wrked out superbly. Sincee i anly dress when I travel, I can easily stop by on my way in and out of town to pack. I started out with a 5 x 10 unit but have since move up to a 10 x 10. This gives me lots of room to store things properly. I have several wardrobe boxes from the moving supply store that allow things to hang appropriately, as well as a rolling clothes rack that I can use wehn putting outfits together. I am also able to keep shoues out, neatly arranged. Although I would much rather have things at home, this has really worked out well. My wife knows - she asked and I answered. From her perspective, I think she prefers having the stuff out of the house. Now only her husband comes home, not "the other woman".

Yes Karren, you're a very naughty girl! :dom: :)

Near the garage door perhaps?

Don't think so, then some one would think I got a garage sale going.

Maybe in the same box you put your Red Wings jersey??

Don't think so, but maybe by my Matt Stafford jersey!

My hiding place was a nightmare. I stored them in a small rucksack and plastic bags im my attic. I'd have to get the ladder down then push my things between the ceiling and the flooring I had laid in the attic.
All this hassle was one of the reasons I finaly decided to come out to my wife, with a good result. Now I have my own wardrobe to store everything.

Easy enough to do. If your bed has a box spring, then make a hole in the bottom of it. Put your things in plastic bags, and put them in the box spring. No one is going to be looking there, so you can hide it without worries.

I had a small storage area that I built under the basement stairs. If you can wall off yours and keep a lock on it, that might be a good place for you too.

Back in the bad ole' daze when I was married I traveled alot. Sometimes I would be running late leaving the house to catch my flight. When my wardrobe (inventory)was over the "take it all with you" limit and I was rushed to hide it, I had an "emergency" storage plan. (I always have a plan B for everything).

I had a large zipper soft side suitcase sitting just inside the attic access door in the garage. I had a luggage type tag hanging off the handle that said "lawn mower/tractor tarps" greasy. Of course it had a lock on the zipper. I also set a can of that 20'ft hot shot wasp killer next to the suitcase, for added effect, lol.

FYI, if you hide things in the attic, all you really have to do (in summertime) is mention how much wasps/hornets like to nest in attics. Then go "check it" every so often to keep the image realistic. Unless your SO is a beekeeper, she won't be going up there for any reason. lol

Man am I glad those days are over.

You could just put a lock on your closet.

Many years ago when I was still living with my parents, I would store it in two large lockable drawers of my desk.

Locks are a little suspicious.

When I go home for the summer, I keep all my stuff in a box or in a dufflebag. They blend in really well with all the other boxes and bags of stuff I bring home.

Locks are a little suspicious

Trust me, when I lived at home with 7 siblings and 2 parents I didn't have any other choice than using a lock. :heehee:

i comented early on in tis thread , that i had , my main stash hidden in one place and a few peices of lungeri/ nylons , for quick accrss ,

good idea but i got careless as i really could not bother to hide the small stash , so i just pushed a g-sring between the matress and bed . this i did for a month or so until one day , while at work . my wife had to quicly nd compleatlely strip the bed , you can guess the rest .

therfore i dont recomend hideing things in or under a matress unless you want to be found out :):

I loved this thread. Having been to Southern Comfort and seen the VAST quantities of stuff some people bring. I mean some pull up with trainlers of stuff!! I just have to wonder how they manage to keep it all hidden. Perhaps those people dont hide thier stuff.

Who knows.

Katie

P.S. A friends boat has numerous secret storage spots where all sorts of things can be kept. She showed me a few of the spots and I doubt I would have ever guessed they were there.
