Hi all,
So, about 4 months after I started HRT I started to get the symptoms of Reynaud's phenomenon. This is a condition where either fingers or toes (not usually both) turn colors in response to cold, heat or stress. I have not been officially diagnosed - yet - but I'm pretty sure about it. My ex had it and the basic color changes etc, are pretty distinctive. Considering my age (52) it is a bit surprising for it to just show up now? I am wondering if the HRT may have triggered it ? RP occurs in both sexes, but is much more common in women. As well, one of the base causes is unbalanced hormones !! Un-apposed estrogen therapy has been known to trigger it. Normally it is not a huge deal, but a bad case can be quite dangerous ( you can lose digits ).
Anyone else out there develop this after HRT ???
Charlene
p.s. the most obvious symptom is a color change in some of your finger or toes. First to white, then blue, then red. It is due to a spasm in the fine capillaries in your extremities, resulting in very low blood flow (hence the white), followed by anoexia (the blue) with increase blood flow once the spasm ends (the red color). Normally the digits become numb, then hurt.
