View Full Version : For Those On the Patch, Step Inside!

I am one of the older gals here who have started the estrogen patch and Spiro a couple of months ago. Both meds are are being increased monthly until I reach where I need to be. Especially the Spiro since I started with High Blood Pressure to begin with and I really need to get it under control but so far each increase has made a great improvement in my blood pressure. But on to the real question I have:

For those of you who are are older and on the patch, how soon did you notice any breast development and what signs should I look for?

Good or bad, even though I am on the thin side (145#) I already had full A/small B cup (my wife gives me her old 36B bras and I do fill them out) to begin with so I am not sure how to tell when I am changing due to the estrogen?

For those of you who have been on HRT for years, how long (years) until you think your final growth leveled out?

The really good news for me this that within these past couple of months my mental state has become so peaceful, relaxed, and I am a softer person that I have ever been before if that makes any sense to you.

Traci, I started a month ago so it is to soon to notice much. How long have you been on your HRT? I will be watching the responses with you. Thanks

You'll find a bunch of threads about this question around here. The gist of the answers is that each person is different, there are several significant variables, hence there really is not a good way to predict what you will "get". Age plays a part, as does genetics, as does luck ( the largest part ). Ask any GG and you'll find they say the same thing about any young natal girl's chances and/or their own history . . .

I was kind of more looking for just a bench as to the earliest anyone older started noticing but more importantly "what" is it that they noticed and felt?

All the women in my family have above average breasts. Except me of course!

Back in the 1990's I asked my doctor what to expect in the way of breast development and he asked me what my four sisters looked like. Well all my sisters, mom, my mom's sisters were all well developed in the D and DD range. After two years taking Premerin I have had a DD cup for many years. So look at your sisters and mom for a probable outcome. Karan

About 10 minutes.. - No, a little longer than that!

In fact I felt a tingly feeling behind one nipple just a few days afterwards. I thought I was imagining it, but I could also feel it on the other side a day later. After 2 months there seemed to be a painful lump behind each nipple, which is perfectly normal. To ask how long was it before I noticed any development is hard to say as the growth is so slow. Today they look okay, if still a little small (see photo below). I'm about an inch off a 'b' cup.

I'm on patches and cream. I've been on hormones since December 2008 (15 months) - I feel that after 2 years most of the growth (80%?) will be attained and things will slow down.... and then maybe creep along at a very slow pace for 3 more years

My breast growth leveled out between the 3rd & fourth year..:D

Since I had breast development before starting hormones the only thing I can tell is that it "appears" the fold on the bottom of my breasts is becoming more pronounced.

Even though I started off with long nipples, I have not noticed anything nipple wise as far as any visible swelling, tenderness, or tingly feelings. But it has only been two months for me on the patch. And everything I have read about the patch for us older gals is that it takes longer for things to happen.

Are you seeing a doctor/ endrocrinologist?

Traci Elizabeth

Doctor yes. But I think I am my doctor's first Transgender patient. And for the sake of not sounding boastful, I think I know far more than he does about Transgender issues. But he is a means of getting my prescriptions and blood work. Anything else, I'm on my own. Where I am from there are NO doctors that cater to the Transgender community. I suspect that is true for a lot of us.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?

Not the "age" question? Well I am not over the hill yet but am a proud 60! :battingeyelashes:

No, your not over the hill yet...

Just thought it important for us to know, so you can have a better idea what to expect from others in your same age bracket....

Because results do vary by age......

BTW, I didn't start HRT until almost 45, so I was a late bloomer too..

:hugs:

Yep! Military service, professional positions, and raising children all took preference over my personal desires. Too bad we only live once. But the good news is it is never too late to be truly one's self. Just enjoy the time we do have and be thankful for that.

I don't mean to highjack this thread, but I was wondering pretty much what the OP mentioned. I'm 48 and if you look at my genes it's a bit confusing since my sister is stacked quite well and my mom is flat as a pancake.

I haven't started yet and to be perfectly honest I'm not sure that I ever will, but then 6 months ago hair removal, laser and electrolysis was just a curiousity and now they're a reality.

I have been on the patch for 15 months. I noticed changes after a couple of months, but my estrogen levels have never been satisfactory in my blood tests.

I started out with one small patch, then went to the bigger one after four months, and both patches six months after that. I will be seeing my endocrinologist next week, I may have to increase the patch size yet.

The breast growth has not been bad, but the estrogen level has been too low in my blood thus far to sustain good health and wanted developments.

One never knows until you do it..

I'm now 49, and developed to a C cup..and my mom was a D cup before her breast reduction...although my older sister is an A cup..

I do think it is true what they say, in that you will develope one size smaller than either your mother or sibbling....

In my case, it was my mother....thank God.....lol

And the funny thing is, my mom just commented on my breast last night after our Easter dinner together because I didn't wear a bra (opps), she didn't realize until then that I had such large breast, because she always assumed I used padding in my bra ....lol.....

Then was saying how my sister seems to have gotten way jipped in the breast dept...lol

So currently, both my mom & myself now have the same size breast....Ummm, her words, not mine...
Sorry Sis...:D:tongueout:hugs:

Being new here and at the risk of sounding stupid, when you take the HRT and other medications you have take, are they for the rest of you life, or just until you have full transformation?

I have gathered from the thread also that you don't have any control over the final size of your lets say natural breasts, as i did have one TG work friend a while ago, and she had developed loose skin and larger nipples, but her breasts never filled out, and she was considering an implant, but i also know she got the stuff she was taking off the internet.

I am a long way off this level, but am looking at as much information as i can then i can decide which rout to take, my first step will be next week when i have an appointment with my GP, to see if i can talk to a professional about my feelings.

Sorry i don't want to hijack this thread, but as you were already on this topic i thought i would ask.

Sara,

You've got to do some surfing. There is a wealth of information out there and this site is a good place to start. Aside from links, there are a ton of girls who have done all the research. There was an English girl, I think Diane or Michelle? Who got me started. It's all her fault that I can't wear t-shirts anymore. Search "breast development" and "effects of hormones," and whatever you can think of. Maybe some of the chicks here can point out some threads. Know what you're doing before you do it, even if you're going to do it anyway.

The first thing we all will say is tell your doctor, even if you're going to do it from UK web pharmacies. There are a lot of choices to make, and you want to get informed.

Oh, you'll know. the itching and the pain will be the first clues. I started on the patch and was on it for about a year, but I now inject. It didnt take long to start feeling, and seeing results. Maybe a month. Best of luck to you.

LOL! That's funny you should say that. I have been lucky up until the patch I just took off. It itched and I had just a hint of a rash which is the first time for either.

I don't know what made this patch any different than all the others.

But what the heck!

Well I am not feeling any itching or pain behind my nipples yet. It is not from lack of poking around though! :D

I am just beginning to feel a very slight ting behind my nipples but I don't know if that is the placebo effect, my wishful thinking, or from me POKING throughout the day! :heehee:
