View Full Version : Am I the only one that cracks up at these new Old Spice commercials?

Like, seriously. Some of these bring me to tears. They're so much better than those dumbass, insulting-to-your-intelligence, libido-targeting Axe ads. At least Old Spice blatantly admits to making outrageous claims! (I know many cisguys that buy Axe products because they seriously think it'll get them into a big lesbian orgy. Who knew all you needed was to be a transman? :battingeyelashes:)

Just because I love trivia I will point out that the sailor in the Old Spice commercials from the 70's is John Perry the father of Friends star Matthew Perry.
And to make it TG related I will point out that on Friends his character's father was a transsexual.

What's sad is he actually looks "doughy" in comparison to the second guy.

I love the Old Spice adds. But I love Axe to. I like the Snake Peel it helps me feel cleaner.

Lori beat me to mentioning Hai Karate, our generation's Axe.

P.S. Axe might get you invited to a gay orgy, but it wouldn't be a lesbian one:)

I find Old Spice commercials funny because they're so homoerotic. >.>

Not implying that's a negative thing, but it's something I've certainly noticed about them.

I agree with you completely, Ze! The commercials are absolutely hilarious! I think it's because of the presentation of what is generally considered masculine. I can't help but to think about those old covers to romance novels featuring a Fabio look-alike, ha ha!

But once again, those are the exact commercials/promos I'm talking about that send the message I despise. Deodorant = you sexy = women will do you. Even in the supermarket. With passion so intense that you start ripping your clothes off miles away from your apartment.

See, if a person wears Axe around me, my main thought is "damn, I can't breathe so good." Life was more fun before asthma.

My spouse and I both use Degree for Men, and find it mutually appealing, both for alleviating the stinkiness and for the less intrusive, slightly less asthma-triggering smell.

I've got to admit, I really hate the smell of Axe. I haven't ever smelled Old Spice though. And yes, their commercials are funny. Hah!

I first saw these watching an Oprah show. I loved them, all the guys are so stero-typically male that I loved it. Men try so hard so often and women simply take it in stride and let them have their fantasies.

If I had a body like those guys I probably wouldn't be where I am today....oh yes I would.
