Hi Ladies,

I wanted to know if there is any specific way to reduce muscle mass.
I am dieting now and have lost 20 lbs and plan on another 15 to 20 pounds. My problem is that even after losing the 20 I still think my muscles are too big. Does anyone know of a way to reduce muscle mass along with losing weight? I want to get my body back to slender!

Thaks

You'll want to limit your protein intake (make sure you're getting some though, perhaps 10 percent), and limit any strenuous workouts (walking and light swimming will be fine). Of course any kind of weight lifting is out. Don't be too afraid of muscle though (take a look at how sexy female gymnasts and swimmers are).

Good luck!

Thanks Sedona,

I have reduced my protein intake, not sure by how much but it is down from where I used to be. I agree that female gymnasts and swimmers are sexy but I am just too big. I know I have good structure I just want to be a bit smaller is all.

Thanks again

If you don't intentionally weight train...your natural musculature shouldn't be that big a problem...especially if you reduce protein intakes to amounts necessary for balanced diet (and no more). Once you have reduced excess overall body fat...take the time to learn how to discourage fat deposits to the stomach and internal organs...and how best to naturally deposit stored fat to hips and surface skin areas only.

You should automatically lose some muscle mass as you diet. I know of no way to tell your body to burn muscle instead of fat. But if you are not using your muscles then they will naturally lose mass, especially when you reach a point where most of your excess fat has been consumed.

So the simple answer is no stress exercise, strict diet and let nature take its course - but it will take time.

If you do like to exercise alot and think this is going to prevent muscle loss then you could consider taking an anti-androgen. This prevents testosterone from adding muscle mass.
