Got a phone call on Friday from the Leeds GIC asking if I wanted to accept an appointment in May.
Well I had to think hard about it, well all of one second anyway. Of course I accepted so my first appointment at the Leeds GIC is May 18th, guess who is starting a chuff chart.
:D

Well im so pleased for you then, i sort of worked it out after i posted, but being quite new, im not up on all the terms yet, is that leeds in the uk? and if so, how long has it taken for you to get to go?

Yep its the Leeds in yorkshire. I was referred to them in Feb this year, and its been about 8 weeks from referral to being contacted and then about 4weeks to go so 12 weeks in all from referral to appointment. :)
This is a lot faster than some clinics, where I'm told the wait could be quite a lot longer.

Congratulations Nigella!
Now I will ask something. What is a chuff chart? I don't believe I have heard that term before. After Sandra's comment, I am guessing a countdown calendar? In the US Army we called them shorttimer's calendars and they usually had a jet on them symbolizing the flight home.

Thanks everyone for your responses. For those who have asked and those who knew, a chuff chart is a list of days which countdown to an event. British military personnel use them generally as a countdown to the end of tour of duty away from loved ones.
Oh by the way mine has had three days ticked off already :D
Did I tell you I was going to LEEDS??

Well we have two days left :)
I am nervous and excited all rolled into one, this is sommat big and scary for the both of us, but we have each other to bounce things off.
Don't know if it is me but things here seem to be a bit tense not in a nasty way, it's a bit hard to explain, I think we will both feel better once we have been to Leeds on Tuesday..so until then.....

I can understand the tension. It's a big step for both of you. There are many unknowns and the fear of the future. Hang in there Sandra. Nigella is so fortunate to have you by her side. You are a special lady. :hugs:

I can really understand these mixed emotions, but hang in there girls, it'll soon be Tuesday! I hope that the things you are bouncing off each other are more like fluffy toys than saucepans :heehee:

Well it was interesting to say the least, more or less it was her talking about her life to the consultant psychiatrits who was called Dr Beaini , his name made me chuckle because all I could think of was " Mr Bean", and clinical nurse called Gary.
Questions were asked and one think that was said is that some people are late comers in being TS's then there is those who know from birth, these are the most common ones. The dr did say that while Nigella realised late on in life, it is most likely that the TS tendency 's have always been there, but she did not realise this.
We have some home work to do before the next appt in June, and that is to try and think back and see if anything comes to mind, that at the time she thought nothing of it.
On the way home she did say that she couldn't think of anything, I told her to leave it for now, as I thought she was trying to hard, anyways half way home she said she said, " I used to look in a mirror and see a girl" Bingo, something had risen from the depths of her mind, I looked at her and said that is what he means about it being there from an early age., then it came out that she had tried to make things below look feminine, as she said, "it was a bit like tucking" but as a child would try it.
We have to write all this down for the next session...so it does look like it was there all the time but didn't surface properly until some time later.

Thanks everyone, what a day.
I went being the pessimist, thinking that they would say I wasn't TS, at least I would have been partially prepared if they had.
As it was, it was only a fact finding session, see where I was, what I had achieved on my own and what they needed to do to help.
Whilst Dr Beani wouldn't say I was TS officially, this was not a session to give a diagnosis, he did say there was TS traits there.
Oh by the way, if you need someone to help, then Sandra is the one you want. Once we had explained how she had helped me in my journey, he was rather impressed with the way she handled the whole situation..
One thing that did seem to be assumed was that Sandra would not be with me once either I started the full transition, or at least would not be around at the end. They were soon put right on that, we were an item through thick and thin.
