View Full Version : What's a girl to do?

For many years I worked as an executive for a big organization. Mornings I would open my closet and pick out one of my many dark suits, a white shirt and a moderately colored tie. Dressing took minutes.

Now that I am retired and living full time at home in girl mode I open my closet full of dresses, skirts and pretty tops. I scan my bureau drewer for additonal options. Dressing can take hours.

Now in which situation am I better off? I think I know the answer.

--- A little TG humor for the cause.

Sounds more fun now of coarse, but if you ever get bored you could come out of retirement and find a job where you can go to dressed! I bet that would be exciting!:daydreaming:

I worked in a factory for most my working life. I wore the save style and color of work clothes every day, Dark blue pants and shirt . Depending on the season I did get to choose between a long or short sleeve shirt.

I'm retired now and though I don't dress 24/7 when I do I just love all the choices I have with my girl stuff. :D

I guess it depends on how long you like to take for a pee.:heehee:

As the saying goes, if something is worth doing, it’s worth taking the time to do it.

Well, it’s probably if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing well, but it’s the same principle! :)

No question taking hours to look through my Wardrobe, looking through all my pretty clothes and picking a nice outfit, and appling my make-up:love: may just have the edge over chucking my hideous Lime Green ASDA uniform on and working a 10 hour shift:sad:

I'm retired too and I don't ever want to go back to work. If I do work, it'll be for me. I'm sure you feel the same way.

Dressing can take hours.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why do you spend hours on dressing?

Hi...
Im retired so i dont need to work full time any more . . i still do a bit of building manly for our daughter & what i do here at home . as to dressing . most of my working life i was in shorts on buiding sites , now all most all the time its skirts & womens clothes except when doing my building or in the work shop doing cabinat making & wood turning , & then its shorts & some times overalls ,
When i go out dressed for our womens groups it would be 1 / 2 an hour tops , thats just me its not a male or female detail , just up & go all ways been like that . just very organized. when we have 3 females all at it at the same time you have to be ,
all fun if you can stand it ,

I am not retired and I don't plan on dressing full time. However, I can relate girlfriend. I travel a lot and typically take some femme clothes along for the ride. It takes me forever to decide what to take and then it always results in an extra large suitcase and me having to take a second mortgage out on the house to pay the airline for the overweight bag charge.

yes I think we all know the answer, I am doing the same as you, am retired and liveing as jenna.it does not make sence in a way, dressing as in male mode it would take me 5 minutes to dress and go, it takes jenna at least a hour, and I love ev ery minuit of getting ready,

It doesnt actually take me long to put on girl clothes once it is clear in my mind about what I am wearing. It's the deciding that takes time.

Hello Sasha!
It can take hours to get the right outfit. I've been late before just because I was filled with indecision! Was the color right? Did I wear this before? Is the skirt too short? And you, an executive who used to make management decisions routinely, has a hard time getting the right outfit!

Isn't this a great problem to have?

Ah, so many better options when selecting among dresses, skirts and tops. It's obvious which is better, but you already knew the answer!

Most retirement advice stresses the importance of having a hobby to replace the time previously devoted to working.
Sounds like you have that one covered!:heehee:

Now if you could just find a way to get paid for doing that...

You're right Sasah, deciding what to wear can take longer now. I've been known to be mostly dressed then change my mind on the outfit, several times because I decided to wear different shoes for the day. At least it only takes me 15-20 minutes to do my make up, hair, put on earrings and a necklace. Then grab my purse and I'm finally out the door to work.

Yes, I love being a woman.
