View Full Version : Have you ever been pulled over by the police while dressed?

If you have what was the officers reaction?
I've been stopped by the police while dressed. It was late after midnight I was parked in a small roadside public picnic area. I was outside my vehicle when I saw a car turn down the lane leading into the park. I quickly got in my vehicle and tried to pull out but to late the car was a police car and trapped me in. He got out came up to my window and asked what I was doing I said out for a drive and got tired stopped to walk around a bit before driving on. It seems I had gone into a park that was off limits after 10p.m. and since I was from out of town he let me go with a warning.
Wouldn't he have some story to tell everyone at the donut shop that night. Really I was from out of town as I had moved from that area a year prior to this happening so I did know about the curfew on the park but just wanted to walk around dressed.
Ok lets hear your stories BTW he never once said anything about the way I was dressed that shocked me.

No, thank God ! But about 4 years ago coming home late at night ( enfemme of course ) a police car followed me for three blocks, and then they parked in front of my house for about 10 minutes. I was dressed conservately, except for the mini. :battingeyelashes:

Hi Venessa,
I have been stopped by the police twice while dressed. The first time I had just stopped to get a soda out of a vending machine at a closed gas station. He never said why he stopped me, but I'm sure he was checking why I was in a closed station well after midnight. Sent me on my way, never said a thing about the way I was dressed, {this was @1980}.
I was stopped the second time at a DUI check-point and this cop had a good time at my expense. He wanted to know why I was dressed "that way". I told him I was at a costume party and since I didn't drink I was the designated driver and had just taken some people home and was going back for more. He liked that but before he let me go he called over a few more cops so they could get a good look and all had a big laugh. I should have told him the truth, that I was a CD but at the time I just wanted out of there. {that was @ 1990}.
If it happened today I would no doubt tell the truth and let them deal with it.

My b/f has a very fast car, and I like to drive it fast. I have been pulled over about 4 times, nothing happened..not even a ticket! Admit, that you were speeding, be polite, and never cry lol. Flirting doesn't hurt either. Our cops are pretty cool, at the least the ones I have come in contact with.

Once coming home late at night from downtown Portland. I didn't come to a "complete" stop at a stop sign. I didn't notice that an officer was right there looking for DUI drivers. He pulled me over I think more just to see if I had been drinking, and I told him I only had one drink hours ago. He took my license and registration. I kept telling myself just be cool and this will turn out OK. He came back and said "have a nice night, and be sure to come to a complete stop next time."
The next time I was on a business trip in Massachusetts. After working late I went back to the hotel and got dressed to go out, but it was really too late to do anything. So I stopped and got a coffee at Dunkin Donuts and drove around looking for places I would go shopping the next night I was able to go out earlier. I found a Kohl's about a mile away, and a Marshals store in a shopping center close to the hotel. When I drove into the hotel parking lot an officer drove up right behind me. As I got out of the car he came up to me and asked for my license. I gave it to him, and explained I was just looking for places to shop. He had me get back into the car and wait. He came back and wanted to know my room number in the hotel. I am sure he called the hotel to verify I was indeed a guest. It took about 15 minutes, but he finally motioned me over to his car and seemed to buy my truth. He said that there had been break-ins at that shopping center and it looked like I was casing the place. He took off, and I started to breath a little easier.
Note that in both cases the officers were polite. I was polite and cooperated with every request. My picture on my licenses is old and shows me with a full beard, and it clearly has an M in the gender field. In both cases my gender presentation was never mentioned.

A few years ago I was coming home from a GG friends place from a night of dancing. I drove into a checkstop setup by the city cops. I was asked how my night was and if I had been drinking. I was calm on the outside but shaking on the inside. The male cop was nice but his partner was rude(a GG). I don't know what her problem was but a few minutes later I was on my way.

Two stops, one ticket.I had to pass the "field test" in heels..not so easy to do.I don't drink and drive as a result of that "test"..not even one..I had had only a draft beer and knew that I would pass after the gymnastic program...Which could become a real bad scene, easily, with the wrong officers in the wrong place..Be careful!:2c:

Yes, I was pulled over last year by a city cop while on my way to my favorite night club. I was wearing a new halter dress and had done an exceptionally good job with my makeup that night. I noticed the policeman at an intersection as I passed. He turned out behind me and turned on his lights. I could not imagine what I had done wrong. He asked asked me for my license and registration. As I handed them over to him I asked why he stopped me. He said that there was a reported stolen vehicle matching the description of my car. He asked if I still lived at the same address listed and I said yes. After verifying everything was current and correct he told me to have a good evening. I went on to the club.
I really think it was a bogus stop. He saw me pass through the intersection and just wanted to get a better look. :heehee:

Been pulled over twice, once by Sheriff, once by State police for bad lane lane and suspected DWI, sidewalk field sobriety test ( done dressed in a ghetto neighborhood with the 'brothers' watching) and Breathalyzer failed to prove them right. In both cases not a word was mentioned about the fact I was cross dressed. Its irrelevant to them, they're only concerned about the alleged charge or reason they pulled you over, period. They can get into trouble if they stray off that tract. When they approach the car I hand them my license with male picture and announce thats me, I'm a cross dresser. Not a comment made. Have no fear.

I've been stopped twice: both times it was for defective equipment on the car (a tail-light). One time it was my car; the other time it was a state car. I didn't get a citation either time, and I didn't get anything but polite efficiency from the officers. They took my license and insurance card, did their check of my i.d., made no remarks about what I was wearing, told me to get the lights repaired, and sent me on my way. When I was stopped in the state car, the officer said that he wouldn't have stopped me if he had noticed the "exempt" plate.
I had dreaded this happening, but I don't dread it anymore. I wasn't asked on those two occasions, but if I'm ever stopped again when I'm in fem mode, I'll just tell the truth.

I have been pulled over twice well after midnight while driving home after a night out with the girls. Once in San Francisco by the highway patrol and given a very thorough DUI test, which I passed. The second time was in Detroit and again given a DUI test (passed it again), though not as thorough as the first time. Both times I was treated by professionals. My only fear was getting a DUI and having to deal with all the resulting issues and restrictions, costs, etc.

I was stopped once for RBT (random breath test, the Australian version of a DUI sobriety test, where you blow or speak into a machine that measures the alcohol in your breath), on the way home from one of our Tuesday night cafe nights in August last year.
The cop did everything by the book, including asking to see my license, which I handed to him. He looked at my male license, barely even looked at me, returned my license and sent me on my way.
I was smiling and almost laughing at the time, because I figured that he was more uncomfortable about it than I was. I'd previously read a comment by a cop who basically said that, regardless of their of opinion of "those sorts of people", they know that if they say something out of place, it could cost them their job. :)

Yes, once.
I had been out for a ride that evening (the only time I went out was when I could hide in the car) when I ran smack dab into a DUI checkpoint.
I tried to find a way to evade, but they select their setup points very carefully and there is no way out.
When it was my turn to go through, they asked for my license and proof of insurance, which I provided, and was told "Thank you Mr. xxxx, please drive carefully"
He was very polite, but I still made a beeline for the house and to change my panties.
I was wearing a white blouse under a red sweater and a knee length skirt.
It was a day I will never forget.

I've been pulled over for minor traffic violations twice (once for a rolling stop, once for a headlight out).
Both times, I was wearing a skirt, hose, heels and femme top, but not much makeup other than lipstick. One of the times I was also wearing long dangling earrings.
The way I was dressed was not mentioned at all either time. I just went through the usual routine, got a warning and was sent on my way. Of course, my 'nightmare' was that I would hear 'Please step out of the car'... but it didn't happen.
Since then, I've become more confident that any officer would be professional about the issue, especially in the progressive area I live it, but I would still hate to be in a situation where they pull me over for something more severe and end up impounding the car or taking me back to the station :(
That is one reason why I am VERY careful about how much I drink while out. Even though I can drink about a beer/hour and still be under the limit, I keep it well less than that and stop drinking at least an hour before driving. I do NOT want to end up in the 'drunk tank' in a skirt and hose!

Been stopped once and that was one of those bogus stops just to offer some proof that the officer was actually working early in the AM. No ticket, no warning, and no comments at all about my outfit.
Things have changed much since the early days and I think that it would be rare to get anything but the most professional treatment from our peace officers anymore.

Once in the '90s I was with a carload of TG friends trying to visit a drag show at a spot in Boton. We turned down (unkowingly) a one-way street, and a cop was right there. Gave me a warning. He looked gay, there were no problems... and left. We just stayed calm, and all turned out wonderfully....!

Omg where do I begin lol, I live in California but I drive to Nevada where I help out my sister by babysitting my niece for 3 days out of the week. I pretty much do a lot of driving and I noticed you get pulled over more at night time than the day time. I had 1 incident where the highway patrol pulled me over just to chit chat. I had 1 incident where he could not believe it was me so i talked in boy mode and he freaked out. I have been pulled over lots of times but this 1 time is stuck in my memory. The officer pulled me over said good morning (it was around 2am) asked for license, reg etc. gave him my stuff, he walks to his car, when he gets half way he turns around and asks me why did I give him a wrong license, I told him thats my license, so he looks at me again and laughs, told me he can give me a ticket for indecent exposure (i was wearing a short skirt but not like a hooker short skirt) after I argued and told him that he was being unfair he pulled me out of the car, he told me to wait outside the highway (its the 15fwy so its pretty much a cold cold desert at night) finally he gave me my documents back and said ok sir have a good one. Im a big cry baby I cried the last 2 hours until i got to my sisters. Some cops can be okay, I have met really nice ones, but there is those who can be disrespectful

I know it would be a mistake to mess around with cops, especially those you describe, but it would sure have been tempting; "So why are you all so interested in me, officers? You guys wanting my phone number or something?"
Or maybe "Your wasting your time flirting with me, don't you have criminals to arrest?" mj (Cassie)

I have been stopped a few times. The most memorable was in California about 20 years ago.
I was driving a new black Fiero and had on a gorgeous white blonde wig. I was heading home from someplace and a California Highway Patrol officer pulled up beside me on the passenger side. He was a young Hispanic guy. Then he dropped behind me and came up next to me on the drivers side. I looked over and he smiled and dropped behind me and hit his lights. I was almost to an exit but pulled over to the side anyway. He came strutting up to the car and asked for my papers.
I handed them to him and he started getting all noisy and yelling at me for fooling him, my license had my male picture. He was screaming at me, kinda scared me so I drove off, hit the exit and drove about 1/4 mile directly to the local Highway Patrol station. He was right behind me the whole way, lights and siren going. I slid into the parking lot, jumped out and ran inside asking to see a supervisor. A Captain came out just as this young officer came running in yelling at me. The Captain took my paperwork from the officer and told me to go.
About a week later I stopped in drab at the station to find out what went on. I met the same Captain whole told me he had warned the officer about pulling over young women just to get a look and flirt. He had received numerous complaints. Never did see that young officer again.

Not pulled over, but not too long back I had stopped at my favorite finishing parking lot. I live on a no outlet 1 1/2 mile drive, so during daylight hours I under-dress and due the finishing touches in the other town parking lot, wig, ear rings, and lipstick. As I just had pulled off the oversize tee shirt, hiding me underneath and flipped the wig on, what do I see coming up "slowly" a cop car. I just swiped on the lipstick and turned my head and smiled at him. He just smiled back and drove of. Now, I did need a change of panties later!!

It was my second time out in public, 10pm, and drove to Westport Wa, got out, walked around town, in short dress, hose, 4 inch heels. I noticed the cop keeping an eye on me, so, i got to my car, drove out of town. After a few miles right behind me, he turned on his lights, pulled me over! I was thinking, "oh no!" Heres what i get for doing this! I told him right away, that i was dressed like this, because i wanted to see what women deal with. He assured me that what i was wearing was not the issue. He wondered what i was doing walking around town late, and that my driving was nervous. I told him i was nervous, going back to my motel. He warned me, and told me to go home and left.

Almost all law enforcement officers will be professional and courteous when stopping someone when they are dressed. Unless you happen to have been caught doing something very wrong or they are investigating you because your car matched a description of somebody that did something very wrong. Or if you piss them off after they stopped you (aka Contempt of Cop). There's always exceptions to this. There are some bad cops out there that can and will make that stop as uncomfortable for you as they possibly can. A letter to their watch commander, operations division captain, professional standards division, and/or Chief can go a long way in educating that officer in how to treat a lady. :)
Not to offend anyone with this statement, but cops see a lot stranger things when working than a guy in a dress and makeup driving around. Unless that officer is new, it's not really even discussed because it is actually more common than you think. Unless you're drunk, dancing in the middle of the street, throwing up all over the place, and flashing oncoming cars it's just a normal everyday stop. :)

Hi.
Been stoped many times . The best one was at about 1 am & one of our p c,s was just around the corner i started the 4 x 4 up . & did the warm up them moved about 20 ft a long the road, we stoped & he only asked if i had had any drink . as i dont, he said he was just checking as it was getting late ,
so i gave him my profile about my self as a trans female as it was done for the papers . so there was no problems & i do know many of our p c,s . police.
We all so have a number who are trans in the force. other than that they are mostly pretty good .

10 years ago I rented a small U haul truck to move my things. I ran into a vehicle check point. I was fully dressed except for a wig, talk about embarressed. I told the oficers it was a brand new truck and should be OK, they kept me there of about 1/2 hour going over the truck. Checking brakes etc. I think it was just so they could see me squirm. Nothing was said about the way I was dressed.

That seems a tad unfair to say, given the numerous stories here of cops being professional. It seems that by and large, cops just want to do their job.
In any case though, I found a good informative video about how to best politely interact with cops in a way that protects you the best here: http://www.flexyourrights.org. IMO, this should be required viewing for anyone.

Once about 3 years ago in east central Indiana. I have been shopping and heading home about 9:00 pm. I just came off the interstate onto a state highway going next to a small town when I see flashing lights behind me.
The officer asks for license and registration and I hand them over. He asks me if I know why he stopped me (I didn't) and we discuss the headlight out. I've never been confidient of my voice.
He is gone for several minutes and comes back holding my license up and shines his flashlight at my face. He looks back at the license, back at me, etc. at least 3 or 4 times. Apparently my voice fooled him and he thought I was a GG with someone else's license.
He finally is satisfied it really is me on the license and tells me to get the headlight fixed.
I was very pleased with his professional handling of the situation and that I came off as more femme than I thought possible.

I shouldn't have read this before bed. Now I'm going to have nightmares. :(
This is a serious fear of mine. First off, since I was a really little kid, I've had a huge phobia of cops. Like if I even think there's one near me, I cannot perform basic functions, such as talk intelligibly, without using every once of strength and focus I have. Second, I have a few warrants out for my arrest (long, uninteresting stories) so if I were to get caught in that situation, I'd go straight to jail. I don't want to think about what would happen to a young reasonably attractive crossdresser! Horrible, simply horrible.
My TS friend unbelievably once got stopped by the Law,for Driving too well.Seemingly they thought she was trying to compensate for being DUI by driving just too good, sometimes you can't win:straightface:
That happened to me once. I was moving from Minnesota out to California and left at three in the morning to avoid traffic. As I was driving down a main drag in the town I lived in, I was flipping through my iPod and driving a bit slowly as a result. Due to my phobia of cops, when he started asking me what I was doing driving around at 3, I stammered so incomprehensibly that he thought I was drunk! I had to go through the drunk test, breathalyzer and everything. And he was a complete ass to me the entire time. Thankfully I wasn't dressed otherwise that would've been even more horrible. :/

I've been stopped a couple times. Nothing ever came of it.
Once I was outside the car walking around in a little roadside park late at night. Cop goes by, sweeps the park with his spotlight, lands on me, and pulls in. I was wearing a black chemise and heels. He just checked my ID and said "You can't be in here after dark", and left.
Another time, during the day, I was out walking down a remote two track in the woods, where nobody goes. Murphys Law kicks in, and a car full of seniors comes cruising down the trail. I ran and jumped in my car and left. A little while later, a few miles away, a cop pulls me over. He says "they had a report of a man wearing a blue dress like you have on, acting suspiciously". I politely said, " Yes, I guess it might look suspicious to some people". He just checked my ID and said, "you can go". The old farts had called the cops on me. No sense of humor.:D
That said, be very careful after midnight. I have been stopped several times in guy mode for bogus reasons, just to check my sobriety. The cops were clearly fishing, using bogus reasons like "you seemed to be weaving", and " you were going over the speed limit, but don't worry about that. We just need to make sure you are safe to drive". I had nothing to drink in either case. Nor was I weaving or speeding! And I didn't get any tickets. With all the recent emphasis on impaired driving, I find cops pulling people over for no good reason at all, late at night, at least in some areas. The theory being, that the more stops you make, the more likely you are to catch somone. There are also fewer cars on the road late at night, so you are more likely to be noticed.

My first time going to a t-girl party at a bar in Philadelphia, while looking for a parking spot I stopped momentarily in a spot I knew was probably too close to the corner but I just stopped to apply some makeup.
Patrol car pulls next to me looks and then pulls away. I pull out to find a legal spot and pass him, he of course pulls out behind me and follows a few blocks. I come up to a red light and want to turn right, look for a "No Turn on Red Sign" don't see one, make the turn, and red light go flashing! Darn!.
I pull over, only thing missing is my wig, but I have on my make up, nails, earrings, and female attire. He says: I know you know I was behind you why did you turn right on red? I say I didn't see any sign and I look for one, plus I was nervous you were behind me. He says license and registration. I'm sweating it out in the car but play it cool, he comes back says "You really didn't see the sign?" I say no officer, he says, be careful and lets me go. No word of my CDing. Cool guy!

For those of you stopped by the police, I don't recommend not cooperating and being polite, but you also should know and understand your rights.
Think the 5th amendment is only used by people who have something to hide? Think again. This guy was absolutely convincing...

Lana,
Good to see another Philly Girl here. As I said in another thread, Philly cops don't care about crossdressers, they have bigger fish to fry than a CDer who didn't see a sign or any other minor moving violation.

I have been pulled over 2. and each time nothing was ever said about the way I was dressed, and neither time got a warning or a ticket, it must be because i am a blond!

It was the second time I'd been out dressed and the first I had driven my car while dressed. I had gone to a local saloon (drinking only soft drinks) and was going to the supermarket on my way home. Driving down Main St. I got stopped in a DUI checkpoint. The oficer who stopped me was very professional and was only concerned about my sobriety. Once he determined I had not been drinking he let me go without complimenting my hair, dress or makeup.

sure have. Got stopped for going straight in a gay neighborhood, Hillcrest here in San Diego. Actually I was in the left hand turn lane and didn't realize it and went straight I thought that was kind of funny considering where I was Got some laughs when I went to traffic school for the ticket. The cop said nothing about my dress style want to know if I had been drinking I hadn't then gave me the ticket and sent me on my way

I had a near-miss experience in march. I was coming home from a TG support group meeting, and my car had one headlight out. I pulled off my main street to my street and a cop had followed me right to my driveway, but then dissapeared. My next door neighbor is also a cop on the same police force, so I think the police officer who followed me home chickened out. Too bad....it would have been a very interesting evening. Inevitably my neighbors would have found out about me. :heehee:

Tranny Tee, I got a laugh, I knew you would not let us down. :)
Now on the flipside, I once got pulled over when I was driving stark naked.
The officer called for backup after seeing the size of my gun.

Another one through a DUI checkpoint. I was hyperventilating by the time the State Trooper came to my window. But he took my license and registration, asked me where I'd been and where I was headed, handed me them back and said "drive safely, Dana."

Hello Bredalee!
I was pulled over last month for supposedly going to fast. The cop acted professional, but had me get out of the car and asked if he could search for drugs. He wanted me to bend over the trunk and put my hands on it. I told him I would not, it was dirty and I had done nothing wrong, had no drugs in the car and would not like to get my hands or dress dirty. When he was through checking, he returned my drivers license, asked if I dressed this way often and let me go. Professional, but being put through the paces all the same.

When I was in Vegas a month ago for Diva Las Vegas, I was pulled over on Las Vegas blvd, I had 2 other CD's and a GG in my car. When the officer walked up to my window he said he pulled me over for a burnt out license plate light, and asked for my reg. ins. and driver license. I cooperated and was not nervous at all. when the police officer came back after running my info, he handed me my paperwork and said have a nice evening ladies. no ticket. I told my passengers I think he pulled us over to check us out, I think he is a fellow crossdresser. when we arrived at our destination we looked at my license plate lights and they both were working.

Sallee, What a hoot! Is that like going the wrong way on a one-way street??
Actually the latter sort of happened to me. One of the first times I went out dressed from our apartment here in VA, I made the mistake of making a right turn into a bus-only street section and was stopped. The two cops took my license, and I told them I was a cross-dresser just moved from Florida and didn't know about the bus lane. They ran things through their computer, gave me a warning and said to more more careful next time.
I thought their attitudes were wonderful and attributed it to Arlington being a fairly enlightened place. Seeing the response from you all, it's encouraging to see that police elsewhere can be as well... well, other than Tamarav's experience -- and she did the right thing!

Myself +3 friends were of to a drag ball in Hammersmith. We nearly made it ....we were pulled over by the law cos the car had Irish plates. We were put in a cell (together) while they checked the car's history. We were the talk of the station if not the town: every 5 minutes another officer would appear & ask us various lifestyle/sex/gender/fashion questions. By the time we'd finished explaining the meaning of life etc they were all very friendly...mugs of tea & bacon rolls. We missed the ball but had fun anyway eg "Can I try your helmet" etc...

It only happened once to me and believe me once is enough. Actually it went pretty smooth. This incident took place in Dayton Ohio. I was driving on one of the main streets that goes through town approx. 9:00 P.M. I turned off the main street on to a secondary street and immediately noticed red lights flashing ahead, at first I thought there had ben a accident, however the closer I got to the area I noticed orange cones in the rode and several police officers standing about. I slowed to a stop, one officer approached my vehicle as I rolled my drivers window down, he shinned his flash light in my face, placed his head close to my window opening and asked If I had anything to drink? I told him no, he then summoned a female officer, she shinned her flash light in the car to see what I was wearing, she then asked me,"If I asked you to walk the yellow line in the street with those heels on could you do it" I answered sure. She smiled and replied " I'm glad you could because I probably could not". She then said you are free to go.......

Yes. Just a couple of months ago,I pulled into the lot at work and a Nashville metro cop pulled in behind me. No lights, etc. ( I saw him pull a u-turn a few blocks back and knew I was in for a warning for a blown headlight, which in fact blew just that morning) His only comment was "grown some hair since this picture" I had on a maxi dress and 4"pumps...nothing else was said, not even a warning ticket! I guess in the larger metropolitan areas, these guys and gals have seen it all!

I am going to call foul on this. I believe that the use of Rod Stewart and "Lady" Gaga "songs" would constitute cruel and unusual punishment. :D
That's the fashion police for you. Cruel and unusual!
not stopped in-fem....yet.
but all one has to do to reduce the chances of getting stopped, is always make sure your car is "clean" (not as in washed). all lights work, no cracks in the glass, taxes paid, and a tag on the plate, (they get stolen).
it is illegal to stop you for a "ID" check, but they just need a reason and you will be stopped.(valid or not)
it is so easy to NOT get a DUI...just do not drink and drive.
do the speed limit...
know were you are going before getting there (map quest).
when pulled over pull into a lit-up area,(if you can) turn on your dome light and 4 way flashers, turn off your motor, and keep still with your hands on the wheel.
NO idle chit-chat with the officer....he is fishing.
no tickets in 18 years and counting, :)

Well, sort of, not really. One night, I went out and got sloppy drunk! When the night was over, I drove about 3-4 miles from the bar and parked under the interstates in downtown Houston. Thank God I had the sense to park because I was WAY too drunk to be trying to drive the 25 miles home to the suburbs. I ended up passing out in my car. Then a motorcycle cop pulled up next to my car at 7 am and it woke me up. I turned the ignition and rolled down my window. He saw me in my fetish outfit: corset, fishnet top, short black skirt, and heels (picture of exact outfit in my profile). I had taken my wig off sometime during the night before I fell asleep. He just said "awwwwww" in a really nasty voice, kinda like "ewwww", got on his motorcycle, and left. It was kinda a funny situation. The bad part was that hangover it took me over 24 hours to get over!

Yes I was in 2008. I was pulled over in a town named Cranford in New Jersey. We were coming back to her place in Plainsboro after being at a club in Asbury Park. I was fully dressed as Robin and was nervous, but my friend Tina calmed me down. I was not speeding, just slightly swerving according to the policeman. My drivrs license is my male self. The policeman had me walk about 5-10 feet ( I was wearing 2 inch heels ), no problem at all and he said have a safe trip home ladies. He did not bat an eye at my femme self ( I am fairly passable brunette ). I have never told my wife about this.

Some cops can be okay, I have met really nice ones, but there is those who can be disrespectful
you should have gotten his badge number and reported him to his superiors. reports like this harassment to you stay on his name for his life in police work..even to other police jobs.

I work for a college police department as a non-commissioned employee. We have about 20 commissioned officers counting the Chief and about 1/3 of the department is gay. About 10 years ago I went to pick my wife up at the airport while completely dressed. It was over a 2 hr drive to the airport and I did not think about taking extra clothes. Needless to say the plane was 2+ hrs late. The local airport police saw me and a female officer came over to talk to me. She was polite and wanted to let me know ALL the planes that were suppose to arrive has already done so. I thanked her and told her I know one more plane was due in. We had no issues.
I have been lurking on this site for about 2 months.
My wife likes it when I dress. She loves for us to go shopping together!

I rarely get a chance to dress but found an opportunity one evening in the fall. I was in a skirt and blouse (and of course of the undergarments) and heels. I don't do make-up or wigs, partly because of my mustache. I was in Missouri driving a Ford F-150 licensed for 18,000 pounds. The law in Missouri only requires a front plate for that license, but front and rear for anything licensed less. And it's rare for a F-150 to have an 18k license. I crossed a bridge into North Kansas City on a six lane road. This road is deserted of an evening, mostly an industrial area. As I got into NKC, a police officer sitting on the side of the road immediately turned his lights on and pulled me over. I knew right away what it was for. (I am overly cautious driving while dressed.) The officer asked for license and registration. My hands were trembling, but handed both to him. He walked to the front, looked at my plate, walked back and handed me my documents and told me to be careful.
I suppose the reason I was trembling is one of my son's Boy Scout leaders is on that police force - and my truck is very recognizable. And I'm not out to anyone. I haven't driven through there dressed since.
Great stories!... that should mean that I shouldn't comment, but I know loads of police guys over here... they are like us?!
They are normal people doing a job... they have discretion etc.. OK in the random scheme of things there are ass holes, but tell them how it is... respect.

Love these types of threads...
First of all most cops aren't going to make any comments to you directly...for two reasons...
One if he does he's opening himself up for a complaint...see where yoru black or white pink or yellow male or female gay straight or somewhere in between if he were to make a comment in a derogratory way you can go and make a formal complaint and he could be investigated.
With the Gay Rights movement gaining steam and we do fall under that large umbrella BTW...PD's all over are having training on human sensitivity training etc....
Secondly, most officers 98+% of them are going to conduct themselve professionally with whoever they come inot contact with anyway...now they may have their thoughts etc...adn msot of them once they come across one of us are more or less going to want to cut bait and move on....perfectly honest they don't want to have to deal with you...to much of a hassle to be honest with you...they just would much prefer to put distance between themselves and you...they're going to look at you as an extrmely weirdo...and they have enough of them out there in other aspects of their duties that they have to deal with so why would they want to deal with one of us if they don't have to. Most of you have been stopped for a traffic violation...lots of discretionary action that can be take by a PO...like a verbal warning and be G-O-N-E!!!! Yah, you'll probably be lockeroom chat later that evening or the enxt, but soon you'll just be a forgotten memory...trust me...I spent 26 years wearing the badge and worked in the greater Miami area...now if there were ever a place that your would see all kinds of things that would be it...I got to know a lot of the street walkers down on Biscayne Blvd...you think we're weird???? LOL you all need to see them girls...I think half of them use to gargle with lestoil industrial strength. One nite a new girl showed up and I was asking one of the walkers who she was...she said oh she just got out of prison...I asked what she was in for...a question I liked to ask so I could get an idea of who they were...and I was told she was in for murdering her mother and father...so see in the grand scheme of things we and our little fetish of dressing is really small potatoes when it comes to the big bad cops...all it is to them is "weird" and then they'll move on....
So if you get stopped by the cops...be polite, answer the questions and don't try to BS him or her...and jsut be honest...chances are they'll cut you a wide path and let you go if it's no big deal....now if yoru roaring drunk and should have been driving in the first place ...well chances are he's goign to give you a thrill and let you get to meet some new boyfriends down a the local holding cell for drunks...and NO they won't let you change before you go into the cell...and I promise you it will be a nite you'll NEVER forget...jsut think of the possibilities being dressed and ina 30 person holding tank with 29 other drunk men!!!! ...the possibilities are unlimited!!!!
Nite all...
PS You all drive careful now ya hear!!!!

Last night of the SCC last year. I did not know it at the time but one of the girls I had met and was in the car was a cop also. We got pulled over and I was nervous as I have a secret clearance and this is the sort of thing that can change that. All went very well and the office was very nice about it and gave us directions to where we were trying to go. All in all it was a perfect end to a perfect week at the SCC. I cant wait to do it again this year.

I was pulled over in a routine sobriety check. (I was on my way out for the evening so no problem with the BAC.) The officer smiled and said, "This picture on your license does not do you justice." I replied that I was on my way to a party. "Have fun and drink responsibly," he said.

Watching Cops on TV makes it seem like all guys in dresses are out there turning tricks for crack. But I'm not much for taking the boob tube at face value.
I drive by every rule the book in an anonymous looking car. I make sure all the lights are working and that the insurance is paid, so chances of getting pulled over are pretty much nil. I don't think even a bad cop would do anything unless provoked, but cross-dressing anxiety isn't always rational.

A little while later, a few miles away, a cop pulls me over. He says "they had a report of a man wearing a blue dress like you have on, acting suspiciously".
Something similar happened to me, where a woman supposedly had called the police with the report. The officer seemed more concerned about indecent exposure than anything else and wanted to know if was wearing anything under my dress. (I was, of course.) I was polite, honest, answered the questions, etc. He told me to be careful and let me go.

Just a reminder...technology continues to make the potential of being stopped greater everyday.
Colorado (Denver) just got their first three patrol cars equipped with the new license plate readers mounted on the roof. They can "read" an incredible number of plates/per second, as the cars pass them in the opposite direction. (like interstates, freeways etc). They do it automatically without having to "aim" it manually.
It automatically runs the plate, registration, outstanding warrants, stolen car reports, etc immediately and displays the "red flags" to the officer on his monitor.

Yeah, in Minnesota, just north of Mankato in 1997. Late at night, rental car, coming into a small town and I didn't slow down fast enough. Come to find out it was a known speed-trap. The patrolman had to call another officer to come 'see'. I got home and paid the ticket, oh well.

A few years ago I was really into latex and leather and I had gone to a local park to walk around dressed in a red latex catsuit with black patent thigh highs and a latex hood with a black corset. I had a great time and got back in my car just before a cop car pulled into the parking lot. I pulled off the hood and drove right by the cop shuddering with fear. I don't know what I would have said if he had stopped me.
Needless to say, no more trips to parks dressed like that.

I dressed in the car as I was leaving from our work parking lot at 12:30am. I'm a 2nd shift worker so it was dark in the lot and I applied my makeup, set my blonde wig on tight because I have a convertible. I put on my tight black spandex dress, my black lacy topped thigh highs, my 4" heels and my dangle earrings, several rings, a bracelet and I was off for my 15 minute ride home.
As I drove through town, all the bars were near closing, all the businesses were closed as I drove the speed limit all the way. As I stopped at a red light, I saw him, right there behind me, I didn't panic, I just drove when the green light appeared. As we drove through the outter edges of the city into the county I felt he would turn but as we crossed into the county, there he was, I continued to the well lit entrance to the subdivision. He turned as I did. I stopped at the first stop sign, then turned left and he sat there at the stop sign as I drove away. Whoooooo!
I can't imagine what he was thinking, but I know how I felt, I was sweating like a freakin pig. My makeup was just hanging there like in puddles on my cheeks. As I drove up into my driveway and on into my carport, the bright flood lights showed the damage the sweat had done. I had forgot to shave before applying my makeup. It looked horrible, I would have been so busted.

Back in '97 I was on my way back form Mrytle Beach in SC and was pulled over by a SCHP. He got out of the car and walked up to my drivers side and just stared at me. He didn't give any instructions for me to roll the window down or to get out or anything. He just lunged at my window and started beating on it with his fists, then forced his fingers at the top of the window and forced the window down and it was stuck there. He reached in an grabbed me and screamed at the top of his lungs to "get out of the car, get out of the car, get out of the car" over and over. Needless to say I was sacred out of my wits with fear. Then he proceeded to slam me against my car asking me was I speeding on his highway. He would scream each question about 10 times and when I would try to respond he would just Holler "WHAT" as loud as he could. I was bruised in many places on my upper body, but I offered no resistance for I knew he would've started beating me with his club. After he saw he could not rile me, He made me give him my keys to my car with the threat of 30 days if I refused a search so I gave him the keys and he opened my trunk, where he threw my leather jacket in a water hole. A heavy rain had just passed. He opened my suitcases and dumped all the contents on the ground. And all of my crossdressing stuff was revealed and dumped on the damp pavement. The works, skirts, dress, panties, wig, heels, hose, many items. Then he opened the other and did the same thing. He asked ,whose female clothing are these? he yelled. I lied and said my wife's. He then called his captain and he pulled up and walked over to me and grabbed me under my armpit and lifted me up on my tip toes and he screamed at me for a couple of minutes at the top of his lungs and not even allowing me to answer. He was just showing off for his deputy.
While the deputy was writing my ticket in front of his captain, he asked me "do you think you have been mistreated today" I said "no' He looked shocked and said "you mean, you don't think you have been mistreated?" I said "no" The captain asked the same thing in disbeif and again, I answered, "no". The captain drove off and the deputy said yeah we have been here and hour or so. I said, I can't leave right now. He asked why not. I said I have to fix the window you broke for a big rain is coming. This was the first time he got to hear me speak. He saw I was a well mannered, decent man. I saw him change from mean as H*** to one so humble and I could see that he began to feel badly for how he treated me. He even helped me fix the window on my car. Afterwards he said to me, you , you're aright, I'll tell you what, when you go to pay the tickets, tell them to call me and I'll cancel the seatbelt one. And I'll move the speeding one to less than 10MPH over to help you out. He even helped me put my crossdressing clothes back in my suitcases and shook my hand and said you have a good day sir. It did take a while for my bruises to heal though.

Hi to all my sisters -- I wanted to reply, with utmost respect, to the comment posted by Lita::
"I've been so overwhelmed with wanting to be out enfemme, that I was actually contemplating going for a drive to take a past midnight walk on the beach, but then I thought about the possibility of being pulled over because it's Saturday night and late, then saw this thread, and now think I should just stay home... "
I certainly understand, and fully respect, the feeling and the outlook Lita mentions; with that being said, however (and fully understanding that some of us are literally compelled to do almost anything to avoid being outed as our true CD selves) I do want to say that when we simply surrender our human rights and our 100% crystal-clear Constitutional rights without a struggle (as in foregoing what we have every right to do) then we condemn ourselves to a life as second-class citizens. It is simply not true (at least no more than as to any other group, such as stamp-collectors or amateur astronomers) that we who choose to crossdress are law-breakers, or dangerous, or societally undesireable in any sense.
This is not to say that anyone, and certainly not any of my sisters, has some "obligation" to run out and expose herself as CD just to be "politically correct," or simply to make a "political statement;" that would be foolish. But I hope we can all (myself totally included) accept at least the reality that our crossdressing -- however outside the "norm" and however "unusual" it may be -- is completely legal and, in almost every instance, utterly benign.
Hugs and love to all my sisters! Diane

Hi!
I go out en femme alot while driving. I just do two things. I dress pretty conservatively most of the time and I go out either during the day or in the EARLY evening. Your chance of being pulled over goes way up if you drive late or you go to deserted parks, etc. So you are actually safer if you go where everyone else is. And for heaven's sake, don't speed.
Have a great and safe time,
Hugs, Connie
