...but, do I have to have already had SRS to get my gender changed on my birth certificate?

I realize state laws vary, but from what I have researched, here in AZ, you need to "Have a letter from your SRS surgeon".
That is pretty vague. Do I need to have SRS planned, Or done.

I mean, I WILL be having SRS, and I'm sure my PCP can get me in contact with a surgeon.

I'm going to keep my name, I'm lucky enough to have a very, very rare unisex name, so that's one less step.

It would be nice to start work with the "F" on my ID......

Any input would be appreciated! :)

For me New York would not change my birth certificate until after SRS. But each state has there own rules. I was able to have my passport changed to F with a letter from my doctor stating I would be having surgery.I did try to use that letter to change my driver license in FLA, but same I needed SRS. After surgery things got changed for the most part easy.:)

Guess I have some phone calls to make. I'll call Wingspan on Monday, they'll know.

But if anyone has a clue, please feel free to inform me!

It would mean they want it to say that it was irreversible & completed...

Arizona

Arizona will change both name and sex, and will issue a new birth certificate rather than amend the old one. The original certificate is "closed" to further inspection.

You will need an original letter from your SRS surgeon, and an original or certified copy of the court order for your name change. IMPORTANT: The court order must specifically state "the name may be changed on the Arizona birth certificate."
