View Full Version : Raging Hormones?

I have been on a hormone regimen for several months now ... with no outward emotional side effects until today. I read a very moving post about a friend sticking up for another (at the risk of their own job), witnessed my wife unselfishly give away a large chunk of money she had been saving for years to help our daughter, and finally reviewing some pictures from a recent trip with some girlfriends.
I don't know what the magic convergence was, but I felt a bit "overwhelmed" and emotional as I headed off to work ... fast forward an hour - I'm in a meeting with the CFO of my company and all of a sudden this emotional tidal wave rolls over me ... voice breaks, tears flow and I have to excuse myself from the meet.
Never, never experienced anything quite like it ... is this the tip of the iceberg, an anamoly? Or is this my life from now on?
Anyone here have the same (or similar) experience?
BTW Sort of got the whole "outburst" cleared up with boss ... whew!!

I sure hope emotional "outbursts" are not a frequent long-term occurrence as a result of HRT.
I have been on hormones for probably about the same about of time as you, and I have had a couple of experiences like that lately. I have for example been talking to my wife about something that is just the least bit touching or sentimental and I can't get though it because tears flow and I get all "choked-up."
My wife & I drink a glass a wine a night at dinner and before we sip the wine we toast each other alternating days. Several times tears swell-up when I'm trying to toast my wife. I can't seem to stop the emotions.
The only good thing I can say about it is that they are all positive emotions and are making me feel softer which I like.

I've always been the emotional type...but it got much much worse & way more overwhelming when I was on a Progesterone...and is why I don't take it anymore....
I'm still emotional & always will be, but I don't have it hitting me like an overwhelming tidal wave from out of nowhere anymore....so when I feel it coming, I just get the tissues ready & get ready to redo my eye makeup....lol

When I am low on testosterone, estrogen takes over, and I can say for me, there's a big difference emotionally. I'm almost callous when my testosterone levels are normal, but when my estrogen is shooting up, I'm a mess, sobbing about nearly everything.

Emotions? I was watching the NASCAR hall of fame presentation last night and when they got to Dale Earnhardt the tears were flowing. At that point now I was laughing and crying at the same time.

Yup! You will get used to this, but be prepared for a MUCH more emotional life.

A few months ago I was watching the latest verson of King Kong and when it was playing the part where Kong was on the Empire State building and the military was shooting at him I lost it. I could not finish watching the rest of it till later on.
What a puss...!

I am not on any kind of hormones, but I admit that I can get emotional at the drop of a pin when I see, read or experience something that gets to my heart. It is those emotions that I wonder at times if my mental makeup is somewhat more female then male. And I am not or ever considered transition. I'm a basically happy CD with an understanding and accepting partner.

oh, yeah, me too and I've always been that way. I wondered why I was like that, until I finally realized that those "I want to be a girl when I grow up" thoughts I had as a child weren't just a child's fantasy. I remember being scolded by a teacher in elementary school, she told me to "control my emotions". Makes sense for a boy. I don't think she would have had the same response to a girl, but little did she know - nor did I realize. I was just painfully confused.

I believe I had always the feminine emotional side. I sat at my desk at work and cried all afternoon one day, years before I discovered I was TS.

when one of my kids recently got married, I was sitting there pretending there weren't tears streaming down my face during the ceremony. Yeah, some big hulking burly-man I am.
