View Full Version : Have you ever been 'too' comfortable dressed?

I was full time in the early 80's for most of 5 years so of course I have been totally comfortable dressed how ever from elegant floor length dresses to a string bikini. But these days, even tho I still dress all the time its limited to slacks/jeans and blouses for daily wear and shorts/tops on the off hours and weekends. This past Saturday, my wife was gone all day, no kids anymore, and no one else around. So after she left I dressed for the morning feeding and daily chores of a Saturday. Along with my normal under dressing, I donned a white square neck knit blouse and short denim mini skirt (and tube socks with barn shoes!) and started my day. Fed the herd, worked on oldest daughters car for a while, fixed the lawn mower, ran up to the local convenience store for mowing gas (we are pretty rural here), mowed the back yard, watched TV, did the afternoon feeding, showered and then put on shorts/tank top for the evening. It wasn't till I was on the way home from getting the gas that I realized what I just did and how I was dressed. Thankfully, its a pay at the pump and no one was around (that I saw) but it didn't dawn on me till after I was almost home I just did that wearing what I had on. At first I thought it was funny. Then I began to wonder that if I can so forget what I have on and do something so 'natural' as go and get gas dressed in a mini and not think a thing of it, am I "too" comfortable dressed?
I pondered this yesterday, and wrote a rather much to long post about it last night only to have the ISP crash when I hit the send button. So I said screw it and wrote this significantly shorter version this am hence the time delay from Saturday till now. But I offer the question and I believe this goes hand in hand to beyond "forgetting how your dressed", or forgetting your earrings, or makeup...maybe it does or doesn't. In my case I knew how I was dressed, just totally comfortable in what I was dressed...and I don't wear skirts very often...especially a mini. Maybe its because I 'dress' everyday. Maybe its because I used to dress this way all the time. I would think it has been long enough since I did that that it wouldn't be so second nature. But it felt that way.
How 'bout you. Are you "too" comfortable dressed?

I wouldn't say "too" comfortable... although I've eaten at a place or two I was already known in the "other" mode without putting much thought into it.

I have never been that comfortable. I imagine that it takes years of crossdressing to achive that level of comfort. I hope that someday I'll be close, but it will be a long time in the future before I'm anywhere close.

When I am in feminine clothes I am comfortable!! Having been dressing in some way for the better part of 70 years, I should be comfortable. Of course, since I no longer wear makeup or a wig, I definitely look like the man that I am. But my clothing is most often that of a younger female, not the older man that I am. But comfortable?? Definitely YES!!!

Jennifer, I hear you! I even wrote a post like it once where I questioned why I was feeling what I was feeling. I felt that the adrenaline had left and now dressing seemed "normal." I get to the point that look in the mirror, and seeing myself in makeup seems normal and without seems odd.
We are who we are. To me, accepting that is normal.

On a few occasions I forget I'm wearing high heels while driving then open the door after I park and oops quick close the door to switch out.
I could however become very comfortable in skirts and blouses. Little to "Unacceptable" where I live though. So I keep those outfits in private. :)

I've done the same thing, got out to get gas, forgot to put on the boy shoes. It would have been too ackward to 'jump back in' to change, so I pumped the gas and went on my way.
Done the same thing with clip on ear-rings. They are easy to quickly take off though.

I think we can get very comfortable and natural feeling while dressed. I know when I dressed for 8-10 months almost 24/7 that I had those feelings. While I never went out half dressed, I could see that happening.

My wife has forgotten how I was dressed :) We've gone out shopping, drug store and renovation store, and to a restaurant, with me wearing a denim midi; she says she didn't notice.

I get to dress up to infrequently it's really unlikely I'd ever "forget" that I'm dressed enfemme. I'd love to reach that level of comfort though. I'm truly envious of those of you who can!

I feel very comfortable dressed in slacks, a blouse and jacket. Always wearing low heel shoes when driving. And wearing modest make-up and a pale blond wig.

I hear you Jenny. I often go down the street to by new out fits so it is good to be comfortable being dressed. There is nothing I enjoy more than going shopping for new outfits .

I've read many posts about "wanting to get caught" or "trying to out youself", but i think what you described is more accurate. mj (Cassie)

I've been dressing for ever it seems, and sometimes I find that I have to go out for an appointment or to buy something. I'm always dressed in the house ; just casually in girl jeans and tee , so I put on a guy shirt unbuttoned and some flip-flops and head out.
When I get where I'm going ,I realize my finger and toe nails are stunningly polished in bright red. I don't know whether I'm just lazy or "too comfortable ":bonk:

I got too comfortable and lax that I let go of my feminine voice and started speaking in my guy mode voice. It freaked only one other person, after which I switched back to my feminine voice. A big whoops on my part ^^;;

I do have to remind myself at times when I put out the garbage, now Barbara remember you're wearing a skirt, you're wearing a skirt! One moment's absent mindedeness and I 'll be giving the neighbours a shock.

I guess I would like to become that comfortable that I could forget. Still, every time I dress (even partially) I get the adrenaline rush from dressing in femme clothes.

I think as long as the cows didn't say anything that you're ok.
I got gas last night for the first time dressed up. I bought a new dress yesterday. I'm trying to get a little more into everyday clothes because most of my outfits are ****ty and show a lotta skin.
About it being too comfortable, isn't it one of our goal to become comfortable enough to where it feels natural and we're able to do it in public?

I am now; I go about the day, forgetting that I'm not supposed to go out the way I am. A few nights ago I took out the garbage and went to the car to get something, forgetting I was dressed in a schoolgirl outfit before I got all the way to the car. Fortunately, it was the middle of the night and I don't think anyone spotted me. I realized it when I bent over into the car and my hair dropped off my shoulders into my view.

A couple of times, I've stopped myself from walking into the office to see what I was wearing. LOL
