I'm moving back to riverside for school in less than 3 weeks. I am still confused about my identity to this point, even after seeing therapists for over a year.

I need a legit gender therapist, now. I need someone who knows enough to actually diagnose me, instead of just guiding me...Living life is pretty unbearable these days, I just feel so lost and so fake as a male..

Do you know of a good gender therapist in SoCal? preferably as close to the inland empire as possible.

Thank you for your help. :)

I see a gender therapist. As far as I know they don't diagnose. Gender identity is a self diagnose condition. No one can tell you that you are or you aren't.

But it does help to have their perspective.

I have only heard of gender therapists that diagnose, never encountered one in my search. I do realize that ultimately the answer comes from within but I feel like I need the reassurance of a professional telling me that I do have legitimate concerns. I am looking through that resource right now...looks like I'll have no choice but to drive an hour there and back for therapy everytime

I currently drive three hours one way to my therapist. It is an excellent time to think about what you want to talk about and reflect upon what was discussed after the session.

I actually took months to decide who I was going to see. I had a choice of seeing three or four gender specialist. I chose my current therapist due to her appearance on Dr. Phil. I know Dr. Phil is all hype, but she seemed smart, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I researched her and found everything I could about her. Other therapist in the area seemed to more interested in making money from high fees to actually providing injections. Just didn't feel right to me when they tell you that you are and make money for additional services.

Be careful who you pick. Transition is a money making industry now.

Whoever you pick, I advice Google them. Know all you can know about them.

So true.

The best advice I received was to find a therapist who would challenge you rather than simply punch your card.

Depends on who you see. I have therapist here that range from $95.00 to 300.00. I'm at $125.00 for 50 minutes. You also want to have one with connections and resources for transition. If that is what you want.
