If you haven't already, give a read to this article (http://etransgender.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=406).

As I read today, "Patients talk in terms of cup sizes, but surgeons talk in terms of cubic centimeters". That's because surgeons need to know how much to add to get you where you want to go.

You will have to decide on the major shape you want. See the article for a discussion of the basic shapes and the advantage of each.

If you are anything like I was until recently, then your starting volume will be quite small; according to research papers I read, I would, at most, have qualified for the smallest possible implant (125 cubic centimeters)

What are you starting from? If you hardly have anything now, then you are going to be fairly restricted in how much you can safely add without stretching the skin too much, and without having the implant stick out too obviously, and without risking stretch marks. You may wish to consider one of two routes:

A) "expander" disks. This is implanting something temporary now to stretch the skin and have the appropriate healing go on in your breast; later you have another operation to get the real implants. If you want to go for significantly larger than you started with, then you may even need to go through a couple of different sized expanders before the final implant.

B) an expandable implant. This is implanting something permanent now that has room for expansion; it is filled to what can be handled now, and every month or so you go to the doctor and have some more saline (or whatever) injected in them. The injection is done through a refill port that runs from your implant to the point where the implant was inserted; eventually when you have reached your final size and everything is going well, a very minor procedure removes the refill line. If you take this road, then you can "try out" a size for a while and get some taken out if you decide it is too big.

Shape... I've spent years thinking that over. It's a very personal decision. My own goal would (at least at this time) be relatively modest projection, but enough sideways to be able to have the two sides touching without much strain. However, I calculated how big around that would have to be and it was pretty big, about a G cup and implied 6 1/2 inch projection unless I was willing to have the result look fairly disc-shaped, which I don't want. Fortunately for me, I recently started filling out (for no known reason), which gives a lot more free play; I can see now that I'd probably be able to get cleavage towards the upper end of C cup (but D would probably be easier to work with.)

i just had a breast augment...my apporoach was to search the net for before/after pics....i chose about 4 pics that i liked...not just for size..for shape too!! i took those pics to my surgeon and we discussed each pic....prior to the conversation he was talking cc's and cup sizes/....he liked seeing the pics, and we dumped one of them then focused on 3 which were similar...i told him if i ended up looking like those pics, i would be happy and i gave him leeway to put any cc's he felt were neccessary...we talked a bit about the type and i wanted silicone...we talked about going in through the ariola and i told him that i didnt care if the breasts were smaller...(apparently going through small ariolas like mine limits size) i ended up with 325cc implants...and so far they look great....

so my approach was not math, it was totally how they are gonna look on my body..

Kate - congratulations on the implants. I know that you must be pleased because you seem to always do your homework. I do have a question.... does the weight feel different with and without a bra. It must be an incredible sensation.

Thanks for the comments. Im fairly sure about the shape im looking for. I want to look natural so will avoid going too big. Fortunately I already have a good deal of breast growth (see avatar) due to htr and various other techniques. For me breasts are a very important thing for me, I feel they will make me transition fully. Currently I am still not out to some of my closest family and friends however I do feel that they already know. They will be informed shortly based on the outcome of the consultation tomorrow. Im getting to a very nervous time in my life but I cant wait to come out the other side and begin living my life as a girl.

Kate, id also love to hear more about your new breasts and how they feel etc. When do we get to see some pictures of them and the new you?

Kaitlyn just went through major surgery, let the "girl" (I know she loves to hear that) rest and recover.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update. Last friday I got the go ahead from my surgeon for breast enlargement. He determined I had sufficient breast tissue growth and that I was ready. Yay! We have also decided on the size and shape. Those guys are so helpful and know exactly what im thinking! He's actually suggested I go bigger than what I was thinking to get the most natural looking cleavage.

Ive also come out to more of my family and one more of my friends. My mum was shocked at first but a few days have passed now and she's becoming more supportive. I think she'll come round.

Kate, Id love to hear how you are getting on after your surgery. I hope things are losening up now.

Of all the three surgeries I had the BA was the most painful. The way my implants were put in was in my armpits. This left me with sore arms for a few days!

Jess: That is great news! So are you going for the larger size? Are you getting the teardrop shape and how implanted? Is it going to be out patient?

Kate: Even though the armpit method was more painful, now aren't you glad you went that direction?

I really dont have much of an opinion about the methods. The people I know that had them put in in different ways had no complaints so who knows. If you cornered me I would think the least painful and least noticable is the insertion in the belly button type that some docs are doing.

Hi Traci,
I am going to go for a slightly larger size than i previously intended. The ones ive picked are a more tear drop shape because that looks most natural to me. We are still discussing the type of implant thats best for me. I dont really want any scars left so we are thinking of the armpit option even though ive heard by a few people that it hurts quite a bit.

My next consultation is this week.

i mentioned before..i had mine through the areola...i can already tell there will be NO scar...he actually injected the implant!! how bizarre.. i am surprised you are not being given this option

they are feeling more natural everyday...the silicon is not hard at all..i feel that its already impossible to tell i had implants...i can not say enough that my surgeon (dr meltzer) is a brilliant surgeon and he knows exactly what we want..he knows how to deal with natal males and breast augments..pls make sure your surgeon has experience in this regard...it made a huge difference for me..

i still have nerve pain and its dissappating over time...they look absolutely gorgeous...i mentioned that i showed my doc pictures...and they look almost like the pictures, if they drop as expected, they will look just like the breasts i saw online...

also the larger you go, the more risk of complications, and the more risk of bad aesthetic outcomes...it sucks but its the cold truth...so pls be thoughtful about it...as exciting as it sounded to me to have huge breasts, there is some risk.

I'm not being a downer, in the end its totally your call and i have seen some incredible DD breasts on ts women...

bottom line...i am delighted and i so much hope u get a great outcome...its a life changer...:hugs:

Great to hear you're doing well Kate.
The surgeon I am using does have experience with males and he has reassured me by showing pictures from previous clients. We have decided to go for an outcome of between a C and a D cup, although he said once the swelling drops it will most likely be a large C.
He has actually suggested the Areola option but im afraid of my nipples becoming misshapen.
I look forward to seeing the outcome of your surgery Kate. PM me if you decide to put up any pics.
