i'm 20 and when i shave, my facial hair doesn't become totally noticable until 4 days later, and it's very thick 3 days after that which makes a week since i've last shaved, so any guesses as to how many hours of electrolysis i'd have to go through? my facial hair is black by the way. thanks :)

You probably should ask an experienced electrolysis tech.

no way to guess, especially since we're not qualified ;-) You should consider laser first, might work very well for you. Easier, cheaper and quicker.

Facial hair is generally more rugged and thick, enough so that laser may not be enough.

I am now in the postion that I will do my chest & back hair by laser, but I will do the face by electro. This is an ongoing process for me as time goes by.
I am budgeting the money now. The place near me is charging $600 for back or chest by laser...please tell me if you think this is excessive or unreasonable . I've even heard as little as $75 by others.

It's impossible to guess how much you'd need just based on that. Just look at your face and ask yourself two questions: How big of a are does it grow on? How close is the hair growing to each other? The bigger the area and the close the hair is the longer it's going to take. Simply based on the fact that the hair follicles will have to be killed one by one so the more hair there is to kill the longer will it take.

Even then that is only going to be a guess at the most. No one will be able to tell you truly how long it's going to take. Even electrologist can only give you estimates. It might still be gone faster or slower. Though their estimates are the most accurate you can get.

Okay, here's a guess. Between 100 and 300 hours.Everyone's hair and growth patterns are different and there is no way to really tell in advance how long it is going to take. If your hair is "very thick" after a week without shaving then it sounds as though perhaps you just have slow growing hair. My electrologist has been doing it for 23 years and the 100-300 hours was still the best estimate she will give anyone.

Facial hair removal is something that you can't really set a final cost on to budget nor can you use it as part of a time frame to do anything else. I budget $100 a week, two hours, every single week. But I can't say that I am going to set aside enough money for 150 hours of electrolysis and then it is done.

It is not how fast it grows in, but how dense the hair is, that will determine how long electrolysis will take (with other factors.) I started out with facial hair that grew rather slowly compared to the average, but the density was so high it caused problems shaving, a beard shadow after shaving etc.

Giving estimates for how long electrolysis will take is very tricky. Since you cannot show all of your hair growing at once it is difficult to see how many hairs are needed to zap in total throughout from start to finish. The frequency and regularity of your appointments will also determine how long it will take. If some/most of the hair follicles are distorted, it can add even more time.

However, if you are willing to post a close-up picture of your facial skin, I might be able to give you a very rough idea of what you might expect.
