Of all my old clothes. I think I still have 90% of all the womens clothing I ever acquired (except for maybe pantyhose which get updated every six months or so).

I swear my wife's gonna make me build an extension onto our house so I can have my own closet (we share one and I'm about to go over the magical 50% point (I wonder if I win anything???)) We're about to hit critical mass.

Seriously - does anyone else find it difficult to part with their clothes? Even stuff you haven't worn in years? Just curious.

You could say so. We live in a three bedroom house yet it's only me and my wife. The closet in one of the extra bedrooms is full of stuff I probably purchased close to twenty years ago. I recently went through it though and threw away some things because they were falling apart.

Hi Crysten, I've got to admit I've become sentimentally attached to some of my clothes, there are a couple of micro miniskirts Sheila [my SO] bought me just after we got together. I never wear them anymore, but they still hang in the closet taking up space, purely because I can't bear to part with them.
Some things I'll happily replace, others, I expect I'll keep them for life. :)

Same here,
I only throw away hose and panties.
I can't part with my others.
...
I forgot I threw away a pair of 36-B bras that are to small and I have worn out.

I still have the first skirt I ever tried on in a store and purchased. It's much too big for me now, so I don't wear it any more, but it stills hangs in my closet, (probably secretly waiting for me to get fat again). I just can't bring myself to part with it. Stockings and panties are a "toss away" item, once they show signs of wear and tear, out they go. Some of my bras are getting a bit threadbare, but like my skirt, they've been shoved to the rear of the drawer, not to be worn, but to be kept as some sort of trophy.

Yes, but even GG's girls have to have a clearout every now and then.Time to be ultra ruthless and throw away anything you have not worn in some time. Once you have sold all the stuff or taken it to a charity shop just think of the room you will have, to buy more stuff!

I have destroyed my entire wardrobe several times over the years......trying to come to terms with who I was......and each time I slowly rebuilt it, using money i had to hide away :(. It was a painful process. My weight fluctuates owing to a thyroid disorder.....so my wardrobe needs re-inventing to keep up with fashion trends.

Now I'm in a stable relationship. My SO helps me....Last night I was gifted six pairs of size 9 shoes courtesy of my GG/GFs niece.....just dont tell her as they were destined for my GF, but were tooo big :D. I am now able to build a wardrobe :)

I wish i did have some of the clothes i had before as they were often personal purchases :) with sentimental value.

Don't the GG's have some sort of time limit? My sister seems to have hers at around three years, depending on what the clothing piece is made out of.

I would think 3-6ish years would be a good limit. Of course, if you know you'll short on money for 3-6 years, then I guess you could aim for making the clothes last a decade.

As for me, I've fortunately not reached a point where anything is old enough, nor do I have too much of anything, to require disposal of clothing.

Yes, you win the ability to build or some how create your very own closet! So cool, yeah?!

I do not, if it is out of fashion or I just don't wear it, it is OUT.
I don't hang on to old stuff though, I like to live lightly.

I do tend to hang on to things I really like, even when they don't fit any longer. However there are plenty of skirts, tops, etc. that I buy and wear a few times before I realize they weren't what I thought they would be. Those things can and do go away.

yes i too have a hard time letting go of some things, but every six months or so my wife will yell Michelle it's that time again. We will go through everything and she will toss out things she doesn't think look good on me. Then she will buy me new things to replace them with. Yesterday it was a new pink skirt, and last week it was a new top. She buys me things at least once a week. When she ran a thrift store here in town she brought home at least four new items a week for me to wear. She is very very supportive of my cding. And like i said before i would't trade her for a brand new box of puppies.

It was Garry Shandling, I think, who said garments should carry expiration dates, so people would know when to throw them away.
