Victoria Anne

After much thought and discussion it is now in our plans for me to legally change my name by years end. I will have to keep my given first name for the time being but my middle name will be Victoria Anne and I will also be getting an ID card for me that will have my photo and not my male pic. This for me is a big step as it somehow legitamises my femme self and gives me a lisence to move forward if that makes any sence but it is very important to me. I only wish my career was not so tied to the "good ole boy" system. I know of only a few girls that tried it and all were promtly fired. The company I work for fired two at the first chance they had. I just need to do this though, for my own self esteem.

Not sure I quite understand keeping your old 1st name, but if it works for you, go for it!

Ya gotta be very careful about jobs. Even when you live in a state where gender is a protected class, they can find a reason to can you.
I think the idea of changing the middle is cool, gives you something to feel good about and protects you as well !!
Congrats !

It protects you until someone from your work reads the legal columns in the local newspaper and finds that you are changing your middle names. I think almost all jurisdictions require a public declaration before the court hearing.
Just a thought. I hope I am wrong.

The good old boy system is a real pain and works for those that want to keep the status quo. However, the middle name change is something for me to return to and reconsider again. I would like to be keep up to date on your progress in this. Congrats and I think you are heading in the right direction.

It sounds like your future job prospects here are not good. I hope it's worth it to you - you are quite brave.

Here in Arizona (at least the Yuma part) all I had to do was like file, pay the fee and go upstairs for a few moments. All done & said in under a hour during the slow summer months, no newspaper thingie or any other thingie required. Took the certified copy or wutever of the court order and got my SS, drivers license, bank account, VA, etc, and total life finally as who I am.
One note of interest however: I did this like 3 yrs ago. I was just in to check on the proceedings or wutever for another girlfriend and was like so totally blown away for the costs as the state of AZ slips into unconscious due to this lame economy or wutever. Went from $180.00 filing to $256.00. Certified copy from $20.00 to $26.00. The only thing I regret is also having left my old dead boi name as a middle name. It was like not needed to "prove" anything later down the road. It's gonna be like a $282.00 learning curve now lol.

In good ol'e taxachusetts, doing it myself without involving a lawyer, cost me $180 to file the petition at the courthouse, and $160 to run a one day legal notice in the paper...and $20 per copy of the name change court order...
The whole process took exactly 1 month from start to finish..total DIY cost, $420.
