In my town, safety would be a concern. I lived in FLA a long time ago, and I think it's more with the times than here. You're so brave and I admire your confidence.

Maybe one day, I will grow up and quit being so nervous about how I look.

Wow. That's pushing the envelope. I love it! I'm near that myself, sorta. Got my tight capri jeans on with little flip flops and a shinny anklet. With "Man face" lol
I've always said I'd never do it. And here I am. Doing it.
But a skirt? Oh how I'd love to but....:D Only time will tell on that one lol

I'm always on the hunt for women's clothes that can pass as mens... Everything from jeans, shorts, socks, tee shirts, even shoes/boots. When you combine all of them, though, it's a dead giveaway. However, I'd love to have the confidence to go out not en-femme in a skirt one day.

Jenifer, I have been shopping in a skirt for a little over 5 years now. Sometimes I even wear a dress! But no makeup and no wig, just a guy in feminine clothing. My late wife always did my makeup and fixed my wig, because I was not very good at it. So now that is gone, I don't bother.

But I do not go out just at night. I go virtually everywhere in my femme clothing, shopping, eating, etc.! I am a crossdresser, so that is what I do. Those who don't like it can look elsewhere! The funny thing is that in the 5 years I have been doing it, I can count the bad comments on one hand. But I have had a lot of compliments on my outfits, by both men and women!! Go figure!:)

the world needs to accept us for we are 4real. I went out today in jeans, womans sandles and a french pedi. went to the grocery store on a Sunnday morning, WAWA to get gas and home . I saw a few people look down at my feet as I walked upo to them but no one said anything . I did take the polish off today cause I am starting to press my luck.

I miss living in Fl. simply for that reason. I now live in a small hick town where, if I dared to go dressed, I would be shot DEAD, literally. Between it being extreme bible belt (that alone breeds a lot of ills towards the LGBT community) and having a lot of ignorant "rednecks" , I just keep a real low profile.

Earlier this year I was driving cross-country and I tried the same tactic. In the morning I dressed in a skirt and top with neutral shoes (runners) and got in and out of the truck for gas and coffee. Lots of people looked, particulalrly at the gas stations where I was paused for awhile, refueling the truck and others were coming and going more frequently. it was exhilerating. An elderly couple behind me in the coffee shop glowered and muttered but didn't say anything out loud.
I will say though, I got light on gas while out in the middle of nowhere so I stopped at a roadside one pump gas bar. I was going to get out of the truck and pump enough to get to the next town but it was full serrvice. When I saw the attendant, I stayed in the truck. He looked like the inspriation for the Wrong Turn movies as did the gas bar so I stayed put. I didn't want to end up in a jar on the shelf looking out the window.

Cool. Easy isn't it.

Today, I wore a knee-length denim skirt in drab to my cleaning job at a school.
Two 20-something attractive assistant teachers looked at me directly seeing that I had a skirt on. Also a young girl aged about 7. All just treated me as normal.

I also wore a cotton knee-length khaki skirt to my local Tescos the other day. Walked past a female customer, then got served by a female. No strange looks at all.

When the weather is hot, a skirt simply makes sense.

Oh check out my signature below - it is appropriate for this post!

The first time I wore a skirt in daytime in public was...yesterday! I wore a short-sleeve gray shirt, tan skirt, black sandals, small earrings, necklace, and sunglasses. No make-up, no wig. I did not shave my legs but my hair is fairly light. I drove downtown, parked in the public parking garage, and walked two blocks to a nail salon. I got my brows waxed, then I walked a few more blocks to our local store that specializes in erotic toys and clothes. I talked to the owner (we are friends) then I walked another two blocks to a jewelry store to get a new battery for my watch. On the way back to my car I went into a small shop, tried on a bracelet and necklace and bought them both. I put them in my purse and went back to my car. Nobody said anything. They were either too polite or just didn't care to make a comment. Except my friend at the erotica emporium who said I looked beautiful because my clothes all coordinated and looked very tasteful. On the way home I realized I needed gas so I stopped at my local station. There were several cars already there but by this time I was already committed. As I was getting out of my car, the young woman in the truck next to me was apparently changing from shorts to jeans because she was standing up outside the truck, wriggling into her tight jeans. I looked at her, she looked at me, and I said "Hey, I'm a guy wearing a skirt. What do I care?" She replied "Wow, damn right. That is so cool. High five!" I gave her a high five, gassed up my vehicle, and went home.

So suck it up, look half-way decent and just do it.
