I guess this goes for the most part to the younger cd'ers living at home with your parents. If you are out to your parents, do you dress around the house or still do it in secret.

My parents know that I crossdress but I still only dress privately, but am getting kinda tired of it and want to be comfortable dressing whenever I want inside the house. I know its really dependent on the type of parents you have, but if you do dress in front of them what where their reactions like?

there is an answer to what you are asking, but only a talk with your parents will asnwer the question. Since it is there home also you should ask if they would be OK with it.

I was on my own for a little while . My mom was real furious with me after an outting gone horribly wrong and she found out about Syndi. I tried moving out but my health interfered so I am home again . I just try to keep Syndi from making too much of an appearance. Better that way.

Oh and Paula, I agree with GerriJerry too. Best to talk to them if they are willing to .

Hi Paula. :) I'm FtM TG and this link was originally directed at LGB youth, but you might still find it useful for your CDing. Just some things to weigh before you talk to your parents about being more public with it.

Forgive me for being pessimistic; my acceptance from my own parents so far hasn't been very good. I came out to the one, which turned out to be a horrible idea. I've since had to wait until I've moved out to enforce my lifestyle with the one and finally come out to the other. Mainly fear is keeping me from doing these things now that I'm finally on my own.

I'm not exactly one of the younger TG's but my 88 year old father does live with me. Earlier this year, I told him about being TG with a lot of fear and trepidation after he had spotted some signs and asked me directly about them.

I was blown away by his response which was basically to apologise for not having seen the suffering that I had spent all my time hiding and to assure me that come what may I would always be his child.

Even after this, I did not rush into dressing openly in front of him. We have an agreement that if we go into our respective room and shut the door then we want privacy, so initially I was just dressing in my room with the door shut. A couple of times he had to come into my room whilst I was dressed and could not give me time to change, but he did not react to seeing me dressed. Later, on a few occasions, the phone went and I had to rush downstairs to get him - again no time to change and again no reaction. Slowly, I started to spend time with him whilst dressed. Now I am full time and he is still supportive.

When I got divorced, I was not in a position to live on my own and moved back with my folks. Five years later I am still here, with only an uncertain economy holding me back. They do not "officially" know about Allie, though I'm sure my mom has strong suspicions. If she does, she has not said anything to me. Right now it's a "Don't ask, don't tell" situation. Sure, being here cramps my style at times, but I'm not ready to let the cat out of the bag. If in time I am asked directly, I will answer honestly.

I too had to move back home after a nasty divorce. My ex-wife made sure everyone I knew, knows about my CDing. My Mom does know, but I don't do it in front of her. She has seen my cloths in my room, and has not said anything. She ask if my girlfriend knows, which she does. My girlfried and I do dress together, and she does my makeup and hair. We have a great time, going to museums, shopping, and movies together. I want to go shopping for a wedding dress when the time is right. I would love to try on a wedding dress.

I live with a mother firmly stuck in the 50s.

She does not know of my skirts, or Goth look.

She does know and tolerates my leggings, and knows when I go out I am dressed pretty oddly for a male.

Does she give me griefe?

Oh God yes.

I hate hiding what I do from her, but even with my ex GF telling my mom one of the things she liked about me was my fashion style, mom will not budge.

when I was in my teens they found out and reacted badly, I told them it was a phase, and stopped for the longest time, I'm now just starting to crossdress again, about 10 years later... I'm going to be doing everthing I can to keep it a secret.

I currently live with my future in-laws because I can't afford a place of my own. My fiance knows that I dress but my in-laws don't. She doesn't like that I dress so I can't dress in front of her. She also doesn't want her parents to know so I dress in private. That is why I am enjoying this week while they are on vacation and I have the house to myself.

I crossdress once or twice a week in private while living with my parents I've never told them directly I dress but if they asked I wouldn't lie. I'm young still but old enough to not care if they knew I dress
