When I first had the urge to dress, I thought about sneaking my mother's things, but something about it didn't sit right with me.

I did do it once or twice though until I figured out my next best option, which was to sneak underthings from a friend's sister whenever I would sleep over. She was hardly ever there, so it was quite easy. I am not proud of it and I regret it, but the interesting thing is that I was always invited over again and again.

I don't think she ever noticed - unless maybe she thought it was her brother taking her things!?!?!

Well I am just starting out right now. And i flipped the switch in my head first, and when that happened I ordered clothes of my own.
I find it a bit creepy to take someone's clothes and wear them. It's a bit disrespectful to that person imo. I wouldn't like someone else to secretly wear my clothes, and I won't do the same to others.

I apolgise for flippant sounding post of earlier, I didn't mean to sound it the way it did. My earliest memories are the usual ones, sneaking into in to my sister (twins BTW) room and raiding their wardrobe and underwear drawers etc. I don't really have a clear recollection of what age or when. My best memory is at 12 years of age finding pretty pastel and lace dresses (these where summer type dresses which buttoned up the front and had sown in underskirts trimmed with lace, one was light blue the other pink and both had flower patterns) and teaming those with lacey socks and shoes. :battingeyelashes:

From the age of 5 I was having fantasies about forced feminisation which I didn't really understand at the time. When I hit puberty I began trying on my Mum's clothes. It was a rush trying things on in front of the mirror knowing I could get caught at any time. The slightest noise out front had me racing to unfasten that tricky bra and try and get all the clothes back in the draws exactly as they were. Thankfulyl I was never caught but there were some close misses.

In my late teens I became disgusted with myself and stopped for a long time. The desire to crossdress didn't fade away however and I finally gave in and resumed my addiction a few weeks ago (I'm 30 now). My first time shopping in the ladies section of a store was a huge adrenalin rush, very addictive!

Now I'm older and calmer I can see there's no reason to be ashamed of it. A little escapism is a good thing. Just got to build up a decent wardrobe now :)

I could never get my head around using my mother's things, apart from the size, and style, she had this weird way of knowing if any of us kids had been up to anything different. Oh from all over the place. First my Mum's, then from jumble sales run by charities my family supported - I just helped lay the clothes out and had first pick! I had no sisters and my mums stuff was way too big, so I have to admit with some embarrassment, it was all stolen. First from the daughters of my parents friends and then later my folks used to offer board and lodging to actors & actresses playing at the local theatre; I would steal panties from them when they were performing. They must have known but I guess they didn't want to raise the subject.

First thing I tried was my mother's stockings when I was around 5 or 6. They were way too big and baggy at that age, but I loved the way that it made my legs feel - a kind of weird cool feeling as the air passed through the mesh.

The next thing I can remember trying was a pair of my sister's 70's hot pants (it was the 70's :)) - they were like shorts with a bib and shoulder straps like dungarees and they fastened at the back. The bib had a flower or something like that on it.

After that I used to try on lots if my sisters stuff, whenever she got something new, I'd give it a try. One of my favourites was a blue floral dress with quite a tight bodice and a full pleated swirly skirt. It had an elasticated neckline and I loved to wear it off the shoulder - my sister never wore it that way; what a waste. I wore that dress as often as I could with a pair of my mother's tan tights and a pair strappy high heeled sandals - it just made me feel so feminine. I wish I had had the courage to wear it outside the house.

Later, in the 80s, my favourite was a light emerald green drop-waisted mini-dress with a rah-rah style skirt elbow length slightly puffed sleeves and small ruff neck with 3 or 4 buttons up the back. I used to wear that with nude tights and a pair of my mother's beige calf length high heeled boots and a matching leather gloves and clutch bag. I would go for evening walks and drives into town this way. It was this outfit that I was wearing when my crossdressing was discovered by my sister. I returned home after an evening walk to find that my sister had returned whilst I was out. It was pretty humiliating to have to knock on her bedroom door, once I had changed and washed my makeup off, to return her dress.

The first thing that I actually went out and bought for myself was a white basque with suspenders :o - Gossard (36 C) I think - when I was around 20.

I lived in a house with 6 sisters, five of them older than me. I would often find used pantyhose in the trash. I would wash them out and wear them. One day I found a big box of old clothing in the storage room of our house. That box had tons of skirts, dresses, blouses and many of those outfits fit me. I was in heaven! For me, CDing went through various phases and my strategy for getting clothes changed with the phases

Age 2-5 ... my earliest memories, clothes were rarely needed much of what I wore was gender neutral. Occasionally an older female cousin or relative would play dress up ... but, it was mostly in my mind. I was a girl.

Age 6-8 ... no clothes of my own ... more fantasy and occasional dress up games. But this time, I'd initiate them.

Age 9 -16 ... clothing was everywhere. Old boxes in the attic, my mothers laundry hamper ... and the laundry or 'old' clothes I found in the houses where I babysat. I loved to babysit ... I didn't care what they paid, if there were clothes, shoes and other stuff I could try on when the kids went to sleep. Never got caught ... (to my knowledge) and still remember my first pair of high-heeled winter boots. My mother was my size, her garter belts and nylons fit fine. She always wondered why she went through so many stockings.

Age 17-20 ... girlfriends become the source of much of my wardrobe. Every once and a while, they'd even play. I'd end up with painted toes and go for long walks in the dark of the evening.

Age 20 ... got my own money. Got my own stuff. Still doing that five or six purges later.

When did I first start to cross-dress? After marriage. We were both students without a lot of disposable income. One luxury that we "splurged" on was an Atari 2600 - I'm letting my age out here - and she wasn't very good at it. If I beat her at a particular game, she would have to dress in one of her short dresses. As I said, she wasn't very good and we were poor, low stakes games. Eventually, she started beating me and I ended up in the short dress. The thing is, I found losing was more fun than winning and soon was in the short outfits more often than her.


That means that she found out that I liked crossdressing the same time that I found out. There have been many threads about telling your "significant other" early in the relationship about crossdressing. There are those of us who didn't start crossdressing until after marriage.

Was she concerned. Of course! All the usual questions that we have read and heard so many times. But after 38 years of marriage, she has pretty much figured out that I'm not going to change (sexual preference or sex) nor am I about to leave her for someone else - it's just part of the package she got when we married.

But again, when did I start? After marriage as part of a silly wager with my wife on the outcome of an Atari 2600 "Pong" game. Go figure!

Oh the advantages of starting young. I didn't have any sisters and ne3ver thought to think of Mom's stuff. The desire never occured to me until after I turned 57 (my middle life crisis?) Anyway, being 8 bra sizes and 5 dress sizes larger than my wife I had no choice but to buy my own. Probably better in the long run, but boy did I go thru a lot trial & error with mail order.
I bet I took $200 worth of wrong sizes to the Goodwill store before I finally got a complete outfit that I could wear.
Now it's straight to Lane Bryant, JCP or wherever; hold it up in front of me, in front of a mirror, and then try it on. It's been a long transition to build the confidence, but I think I've finally made it.

My wife was into girdlesand they were somewhat tight, But they fascinated me. Time flew by and I lost 40 some odd pounds. For some reason or other she bougth some VicSecrets and I tried the bras on and they fascinated me. After I tried them on boy talk about a desire. So any way I took a blk one to the store and got white ones for her " birthday' went back afew months latter and using the white one order black for her "birthday". Oh by the way it turns out she didn't like them and when she found my treasure she gave me hers too. At this point she demanded counciling and wondered how far I was going to go.

Actually, she was not in her right mind, but little did I know. She blamed herself for my sister's death, spent months in mental hospitals, underwent electroshocks, etc etc. We all knew she was ill, but not that much ill.

I started when I was 10 or 11 with my Mothers clothes and then my sisters as she got older, washing baskets was my usual source and I dressed when they went out leaving my grandmother to babysit.
