I am so suprised when I look back over the last 2 years and see how far I have come. 2 years ago I was in the closet and scared to death to tell anyone that I was a cd'er. I still remember that first time out the door in utter terror. This was so strange because I took the biggest step of all.

The date was August 2, 2010 and I went about my business as usual. Solving client problems and trying to get everything backed up from one computer to the other. I checked in online so I didn't have any interaction with the person at the airline ticket counter which turned out to be a real blessing. I was trying to figure out a solution to a program and get dressed at the same time. I was so preoccupied with the problem that I let myself get too close to my flight time that I only had 30 minutes after security to get to the gate. Everyone says how scary it is to go through security. Scary yes - but not deserved. I gave the TSA agent my ticket and drivers license. 2 looks to compare and I had gotten through step #1. He was very nice and courteous. Then the scanning process was next. Put my purse, luggage and everything through the scanner. Walked right through. No additional scan or anything. Got my belongings and headed for my gate. That is when the fun really started.

I felt like I was having a hot flash. I was sweating up a storm. Sweat was pouring off my forehead. I have no idea where this came from. Usually I am so calm when out dressed. Then I proceeded to go to the restroom to check my makeup and try to quit sweating. Then it happened. The skirt I was wearing almost came off. It fell a full 3 inches in seconds and I barely caught it. I couldn't believe it because I had just bought the skirt for the trip. I had 2 pair of padded panties to help provide hips and they weren't holding it up. I was in trouble because I still had several to go and I couldn't put on suspenders to keep my skirt on. That's when I realized that the problem was the waist cincher that I had on plus the couple of pounds I lost just before the trip. So I got the waist cincher off and was able to relax a little. Now I looked fat. :D After touching up my makeup which was probably the best that I had ever done BTW, I headed back for my gate. I was getting read a lot but I wasn't going to let that stop me from my goal. So I got on plane and flew to Chicago.

Budget closed earlier than my flight so I had to use Hertz. I had never rented from Hertz before so I had to stand in line. After awhile I got my car and headed to the hotel. Checked in at the hotel and everybody was nice. Collapsed on the couch realizing that I completed the toughest journey in my life. I had flown pretty. This was first time but definitely not my last.

On the way back home I got answers to other pressing questions for cd'ers. Since I was flying with a carryon and flying in male mode on the way back, the bag had my breast forms, bra, padded panties and other women items. Just about everything in the bag was female. So when I got to security I just put the bag on the conveyer belt and held my breath. Expecting to have my bag checked manually, but no. Apparently breast forms have been seen so much in carryons that they know what they are. I was free to go without a pat down or anything. What a relief.

I am enclosing a picture as proof that I made it. There are some that doubt the stories so I made sure of the proof. As you can tell, I don't pass very well but I did the impossible in many cd'ers eyes. It isn't as hard as you would think. Just act like a lady and have some fun. And no sweating!

Fun, isn't it? I did the same thing (first time), flying from VA to KS just a few weeks ago. I got a couple of "wrong ID?" questions and a Really Fun patdown from a security agent (female) when my cinch set off the alarms.

The trip was the purpose for my blog. My TSA fun is here (http://youcancallmemeg.blogspot.com/2010/07/part-four-meg-does-dulles.html).

I also flew home as a male, but I checked all my Meg gear. No note saying they went through my luggage. Frankly, I was mostly worried that my new forms would be damaged by bad luggage handling!

Where the heck are you flying out from? Usually in Atlanta or Orlando, they tell my to spread my butt cheeks, recite the National Anthem, and then say, "Oh, by the way, we've lost your bag. You can expect it in a few days...so, look forward to starting your vacation off with repeatedly laundering the same outfit."

Yeah.

And, then, they sit me next to some sweaty guy that coughs a lot...and, there is another man in front of me basically sitting in my lap, enjoying his cocktail.

There isn't enough booz world for 12 hours of that crap...

So, yeah, where the heck are you flying out from? Is Denver airport not a pain?

Good for you Michelle, I'm so glad that your living life.
Oh, that hot flash thingy? Yeah, me too. That's why I almost always go straight from security to the bathroom. LOL

I have never had much trouble flying. Denver is very easy to navigate and the people at Frontier are very easy to deal with. I have flown out of Atlanta a lot in my earlier years and it was more of a hassle but that comes with it being so big. At least if your were flying with me on my way to Chicago, you would have been flying next to a sweaty cd'er. :D

Lorileah,
I see the difference in myself. In fact I have since setup a group in Denver of cd'ers who just want to meet. It is a very informal group. We are just about helping each other have someone to go with. I got my courage when I starting going out dressed. Now I want to return the favor to others and eventually one day pass the torch to someone else so I can retire.

Yea for you Michelle! You just got added to my heroine list. So is this going to be a (semi) regular thing for work trips? If so, I hope you can stop and smell the roses a little more instead of the 30 minute dash.

I don't know how many innocents I presuaded, but I did have fun. In fact this feels like I going through my bucket list. On Tuesday it appears that I am going to play golf dressed with 3 other cd'ers. 2 of them will be dressed now. The one remaining cd'er in our foursome doesn't know yet that the event has changed from a dressing optional event to a dressing event now.

A huge Yay! for you Michelle.

Everyone should do it, it is so wonderful to enjoy the traveling day completely interacting in girl mode.

And I agree, post inspection nerve-caused sweating happens to me too. I have found that a quick stop at the bathroom, wig off and pat down with a paper towel works well without making it necessary for too much repainting. ;)

It is always so nice to hear of more of us flying pretty. Now I am looking forward to my trip next month even more.

Hugs from another Michelle:hugs:
