Hi everyone, At today's session, my councilor told me he had bad news for me. He really made it sound like it was going to be a bummer. He said he had discussed my case with his boss and, he paused, she agrees that we can support you wishes for hormone treatment. Whew!!! Now for the bad news, he said he had to research how to write the letter. So from my purse I pull out the wonderful sample letter that stephie did for me, and he liked it. But I have to wait 2 weeks because he was going to be gone on vacation, next week. So on 9-9-10 I should have it in my hot little hand.:c9: I want to thank all you for talking me out of self medicating myself. Sure it took longer, going thru the counciling, but now I think it's worth it having a Dr to keep track of you progress. Thanks:hugs::love:

Now to find a Dr. I don't know if my primary care Dr will do it for me. If not, I might have to go out of town. I just got a phone call returned from a Dr's office and she she said he would do it. Office visits are any where from $150 to $225, ouch!!

Some more good news, tonight I will start a TG meeting here in W Michigan, at the local LGBT center. And I have a commitment from 3 people for tonight. It's a start, and hopefully it keeps going. So I'll keep you informed what happening in my little world:hugs:...BJ

Congratulations that things are working out for you Billijo, but I am still very
surprised that your therapist didnt know how to write up a referral letter.

And I am so glad you didnt try to self-medicate because you really do need that support of a Doctor to monitor your hormone
levels, as well as keeping a good eye on your liver & kidney function. Older transsexuals especially have to be very careful
with this from my understanding. Youve waited this long, so what is wrong with waiting for another couple of weeks? :)

Its good to hear that you are also now taking steps as well to support more transgender/transsexual people in your community.

I only wish that more people were pro-active like you because there is not enough information out there in society. My GP was going to send
me over 1200miles down south to Brisbane for support because he didnt even know there was was gender clinic here in Cairns (The Dolls House).
And believe me I wanted this that bad I would have moved to Brisbane regardless of the cost & being completely on my own & that isnt the best idea.

By the way if anyone needs any help with setting up websites or with graphic arts because they want
to become pro-active as you are doing now in promoting transgender/transsexual awareness & supporting
others like us by all means give me a shout. I am only too happy to volunteer some time to help our cause.
