Hi fellas. I'm willing to undergo SRS and become full-time as a M2F transsexual in Australia or Canada. However, since I might have had work experiences in both the countries, I need to know if I would have problems when contacting my previous employers and requesting them to change my gender and name in their references. If there's someone among you from Australia or Canada or the UK who've already done this, please let me know about your experiences and also the possibilities of having legal issues about this. Thanks. This is important for me to know.
I'm worried if my previous employers would be willing to change my name and gender on their references or not.

I dunno, Shazz.
Don't over-think this issue. I didn't contact any ex-employers. I just changed my resume. I figure there are enough mistakes made in this world so that one more wouldn't hurt. You are who you are. Your gender should be obvious to your current employer. If someone in your past has made a clerical error, it ain't yer fault.

Sephenie, what if my current employer wants a reference from my previous employer or calls the previous one up to check if "Ms.XYZ" has been on their payroll or not !?

And your point is?
Look, you can't hide a transition. But you CAN refrain from freaking out about it. Don't make this a federal case. If someone calls your previous employer, deal with it. Tell them what's going on. But if you refuse to do ANYTHING just because you are worried about what MIGHT happen, I can guarantee you will never get anywhere.

I don't know about other countries but when I changed my name I contacted my previous employer who told me they don't keep records over 7 years. So depending on how long ago you worked for them there may be no record of you anyway.

Yap that's a point you've put forward Pamela thanks for replying.
Thank's actually a good point you just have reminded me of Steph. Thanks for pointing it out. I think I need to be more firm and confident in dealing with it.
