I went to target today dressed as Lisa to buy some storage totes and Loreal eye lash serum which is awesome. I go out shopping quite often and rarely have problems. Today I dressed down in jeans and a sweater top. An older gentlemen came up to me as I was walking down the isle and said “I am 90 years old and I have perfect vision, and you look beautiful”. I thought he had read me, but looking at his facial expression, I did not detect that he sensed something was odd. Also he seemed sincere. I gave him a big smile and thanked him and walked away blushing, and happy. If this happened to me 10 years ago, I would have freaked out, but I guess I am at a point in my life that I am comfortable with my CD that if I was read, so be it, and he was very nice and complimentary about it. If he truly thought I was a female, then awesome.

And why wouldn't he say that to you? Judging by your avatar, he was 100 per cent correct!

What a wonderful compliment considering all of the beautiful women in Southern California. I am also jealous as I have never had a compliment like that!

Maybe, maybe not, you weren't there...my guess is he took Lisa for the pretty woman she appeared to be, but regardless it was a magic moment for her

First and foremost, congratulations Lisa on a wonderful moment - that's something every single one of us would just love to experience, and I'm glad that happened for you. Second, I very strongly suspect (not having been there, I don't know) that the gentleman took you as a lovely young woman; the generational thing makes it (to my mind) highly unlikely that he read you, not because an elderly man can't read people but because that generation generally tends to be less accepting of many kinds of different-ness including ours. My suspicion is that he thought you were good looking and it was a pleasure for him to have an opportunity to flirt with a cute young thing, which is what he did. So both of you came out ahead -- what a great outcome for you and also for him!

The statement I'm 90 and have perfect vision tells me he knows but still thinks your beautiful. Simple.

Wow that is awesome Lisa you go girl. I'm pretty sure that I am more or less always read since I'm 6 feet tall but I've noticed that women will make small talk with me when I'm dressed which is really nice. Makes me feel like one of the girls!

Could be an admirer if he clocked you. But we don't know whether or not he did. When it's respectful like that, always nice to hear.

Definitely awesome. Doesn't sound like you need it but comments like those are always nice little confidence boosters IMO.
