Depending on certain factors tomorrow, I may finally be going out en femme. I have my out fit put together (high heels are a bit large, but since I'm not planning on being active I should be alright.) Only thing holding me back at the moment is budget. If I can manage to get my plasma donation in tomorrow I'll have enough money to deal with the cover charge for our local LGBT joint. I'm hoping it works out.

come to think of it this brings up another question how does one politely refuse a drink at a bar? Two main reasons, one being that i want to avoid any awkward situations, two I"m going to be driving myself out there.

My friend told me drink up and say thanks. Not sure I am comfortable doing that but she said as long as you don't dance with them .....

What is more awkward? Accepting a drink or refusing a drink, either way you have to deal with what I can only assume would be unwelcome advances. A girl alone in a bar is just shouting out, "buy me a drink" or "pick me up". Find someone to go with, otherwise your first night out may turn out miserable.

Good luck with that Jaina, hope you have a good time.

If you are driving, that's a perfect reason for not accepting alcohol, or if you do have a drink, limiting to one or two.

Good luck and remember the first rule of crossdressing is "Have Fun!!"

Trying to walk convincingly in heels that aren't snug is another good reason to refuse drinks. If you are going to a LGBT hang out i wouldn't worry about
anything being an awkward situation. Just relax and enjoy it.

I hope all of this planning works out for you. Enjoy your time out of the closet. :D I hope it leads to you not wanting to go back in the closet ever again.

As has been mentioned, if you are driving that is reason enough. However, if you need more just tell them you are taking a medication that the alcohol does not mix well with and they DON"T want to see that. Otherwise, I hope all works out well and you have a wonderful time.

When I go out, I tell the person I am driving, but a coke sounds good. Have a great time and be sure to thank the person buying your drinks.

Smile demurely and say "Why yes, a Shirley Temple would be delightful". Of course this will make you sound like your 60 years old, but at least it has no alcohol in it.
