Hi All
Just got back from a great shopping trip with my wife. Went in usual clothes shops where she buys her clothes and shoes. But to my surprise one of the shops has just started doing larger sizes.
So there I was having a look at the different styles that were now available while she was in the changing rooms trying on some new outfits. God was I feeling envious.
Well when she came back she asked me if there was anything there that I wanted, so I pointed out 2 gypsy style tunic tops in cream and a long black tiered gypsy style skirt.
But I said that I would not get them as I was not sure of the sizing. This I thought was a nice easy answer. But oh no not in the mood my wife was in today.she suggested that I should go try them on. Now remembering that this a ladies clothes shop I'm dressed in drab and its a Saturday, feel that you could see a few of the problems that could arise. I tried to explain this to my wife but she was having none of it. She said that I had been an absolute sweetie and not complained about going out dressed in drab, been dragged round all the different shops carrying the bags and still with no complaining, So she said that I deserved a special treat and that I should go and try them on.
Although I found this thought very thrilling and execiting. I also felt quite negative as it just was not going to happen, and this I pointed out again to my wife.
By what time she had selected my sizes in the items I had pointed out and was heading towards an assistant, and me not being the most confident public cd'er I was heading towards the exit.
I didn't get to the exit before she called me over to her and the assistant.
reluctantly I turned and headed towards them feeling quite embaressed out what had been said by my wife, although I know she would not do anything to hurt my feelings or to cause me to lose face in public.
Upon reaching them my wife said that it was all arranged and that we should head towards the changing rooms. I couldn't believe what was going on, and had to ask. The assistant explained that she would go in and check if anybody was in there and if it was clear my wife and I could enter, and I could try on the outfits as they were separate cubicles and when I was finished my wife would come out and let her know that I was ready to exit, and she would knock when it was clear for me to come out, and voila job done.
Now another problem arose, once I was in the changing room trying on the outfits I didn't want to leave as I was have such a great time, my wife had go go out three or four times to get other items for me to try on. and while all the time I could hear others coming in and using other cubicles. I felt just like one of the girls.
But all things must come to an end, and it was time to leave, so again my wife went and got the assistant and leaving went just as smoothly as entering, and I had choosen some lovely outfits.
My next surprise happened at the checkout, the same assistant was there and said that if I was ever passing and wanted to try anything on just let her know and she would arrange it for me. I thanked her but said this would probably be the only time I would do this so she didn't get in trouble with the manager. To which she pointed to her ID badge which read Sarah xxxxxxxx Manager.
I thanked her again said in that case she would see me again as this was the best customer service I had ever had, but would probably not be needing the changing rooms again as the sizing is accurate.
When outside the shop my wife got a big hug and a kiss. Then taken to her favorite Bistro for a glass of chablis and a nice meal.
My head is still spinning now after a day like this, and if it was not for the new outfits I would have thought it had been a dream.
I will post pictures of the outfits hopefully within the next couple days.

It sounds like you had a good time.
Most clothes shops are understanding, the thing is that your buying things, that keeps them in a job. What do they care if your a gg or a cd.
I hope you have many more shopping trips like this and enjoy them all.

Hi Joanna,

What a wonderful experience you had! I know for myself how it feels to be in a changing room wearing women's clothes and hearing nothing but female voices in the surrounding cubicals. Usually my wife accompanies me in the cubical too.

It must be so gratifying (and a relief) to know that the Manager of the store is cd friendly as far as buying the clothes is concerned. And that lovely wife of yours!.....I'm glad you let her know she's appreciated by hugs and kisses, nice meals and big glasses of wine :D btw...I love Chablis too! (the high quality French version not the American version that is)

Congratulations Joanna! A wonderful, positive adventure!

It's also nice that you were considerate of the store clerks and the other customers, I think your politeness and reservations worked well for you. If you had rudely demanded it, it might've been denied to you. You make all us CD'rs look good! :D
