The Unbearable Lightness of Being...Woman ~ or ~ Synchronized Outside-In With Fidelity Inside-Out ~ True to Form

I am forever non-op ~ wouldn't ever consider surgical transformation. But I have often wondered about HRT. I'd like to capitalize on the experiences of others here who are undergoing or have undergone and then stopped such therapy. I thank you in advance for sharing.

To what extent does medically supervised hormone treatment feminize the male physique? I am a forty-something year old person. Will the administration of hormone therapy actually result in the development of breasts? Really truly female breasts? It seems amazing to me that this would happen. If so, to what extent does this happen, what size breasts would form? Does it depend on how long you're exposed to such therapy? How long does it take for development to begin, level off and end? Do they go away if you stop hormone treatment once breast development has run its full course - or is the effect permanent and breast reduction surgery then becomes necessary if you decide...oopsie! Do hormones alter your figure to a more hourglass shaped waist,a smoother softer body profile, a fuller more curvy ass? Or are all these effects manifest only if you undergo such medical treatment when say, at a very young age? Oh, and does this alter libido and does it cause erectile dysfunction? If the latter, can this be overcome by Viagra? But even so, if libido is affected and your interest in sex is significantly diminished...why even bother?? Who wants to have million dollar looks if no interest in sex is the cost?

OR...are all the above highly individual and impossible to predict outcomes to such therapy? I know I could spend hours on the internet researching this textbook style, but what better resource than the real world 1st hand manifold & diverse experiences of people in the know!

Thanks so much! :battingeyelashes: Ciao Bella!

There is a fair bit of good information about HRT in the Body Issues section, and in the Transsexual section.

I recently asked roughly the same thing, and got some good answers (http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?140566-Appearnce-changes-under-MTF-HRT) in the Body Issues area.

As Stephanie S points out, everyone has breasts already, and what people are asking for is bigger breasts. From that perspective, whether you have "female breasts" or not depends on whether you consider yourself to be "female", not upon your breast size or shape.

Earlier this year, I did a bunch of searching around the topic of male and female breast and nipple sizes and shapes, and presented the results in the Body Issues forum. It turned out, for example, that my nipples were already of average female size, but that my aereola were smaller than the average male. This is an indication that we need to think more rigorously about our definitions, and what "female breasts" means to us.

It seems amazing to me that this would happen. If so, to what extent does this happen, what size breasts would form?

Summarizing from other discussions: roughly a 1 cup gain (total, after years of HRT) is fairly common, but 2 cups gain is still within the statistical norm; much beyond that becomes uncommon. 3 cups gain (e.g., flat to C) is getting to the bounds of "realism", and 4 or more cups gain can happen but is rare enough that if someone says they went from flat to D or higher, it would be wise to, uh, "evaluate the reliability of the source".

There is typically some development ("breast buds") before the end of 3 months, and it is realistic that some individuals may gain most of a cup size by the end of 4 months. The bulk of the volume increase seems to happen within the first year, but the more subtle changes finalizing the milk glands and protrusion of the aereola will usually not be complete until 2 to 3 years. There is not often much development after that.

Breast tissue growth through HRT is permanent, but breast volume that is composed of fat will usually fluctuate over the rest of one's life and may well diminish if HRT is stopped. The relative proportions of breast tissue and breast fat that you would get is not very predictable, but you can probably get a hint by thinking about your mother.

ED is considerably more common than not when one is on anti-androgens.

My gender therapist has indicated to me that all of her patients who have gone on HRT have continued to be able to have orgasms, but that the mechanics may be different. I have not asked her for specifics about how it is done.

Smaller waist starts within the first 6 month; bigger ass is spoken of more in the 2 year-ish range. Neither of those changes is permanent: the

Thanks Sandra-Leigh! I shall avail myself of the resource you've pointed me to! I'm sure all the info I need is there. I guess I'll delete this thread due to redundancy. Tremendously busy next couple days - fcn my life up even more than normal...LOL. Cant wait till the pressure's off so I can dive in afterwards. I appreciate your long response! That was very nice of you.
